I'm not offended by your post, but I do find it a load of tub thumping nonsense.
    1) If a lead star on a production punched a producer, there would be consequences, even if it were Tom Cruise.
    2) You seem to conveniently paper over the fact that he was caught saying nigger on camera and also called an asian guy a "slant'. Two of numerous offences that went unpunished and led to his final warning.
If you want to move into this sort of editorial you need to put down both sides of the story, especially when your followers are not all UK based.
This isn't bending over to political correctness, it is very lightly punishing someone for a constant stream of problems. Most other presenters would have been kicked in to touch long ago. You cannot let someone go unpunished, time and again, just because he is a creative asset and pulls in big bucks.
I don't mind Clarkson, he can be funny, entertaining, no nonsense and clearly knows his cars. But that isn't a green light to do absolutely anything.

Well, yea, he did. Off camera, on camera, out take... What's the difference, he said it, he apologised. It shows the mindset of the man.
I'm about as hard to offend as possible, I'm not offended by Clarkson. I don't even dislike the guy (other than being a chelsea fan)... I laughed out loud when he said he was "off to the job centre" yesterday.
I just don't believe that huge stars should be given different rights to anyone else. If the producer had punched Clarkson, do you think he would be working today?
This diatribe is hiding an ugly point behind an indie/creativity mask.... That big stars should be able to do whatever they want, without consequence... Because they bring in money and entertain. It's the opposite of the indie mindset.

    Hey Andrew
    clearly this bothers you
the he thing is you are making statements based not upon facts not assumptions. We don't know the full story here but I can tell you this if the presenter of a show I was working on (allegedly) punched a producer the show would be most likely suspended until this was sorted out.

Love him or loathe him he is the show. He is what you see, a loutish, arrogant loudmouth. That's why he is so polarising. I personally grew tired of him a couple of decades ago but my post here is not about my personal feelings towards Mr. Clarkson. He does what he does very well indeed.
There clearly is more to this than we have been told but hypothetically if Clarkson punched this producer unprovoked just because there was no catering that is beyond acceptable behaviour. He should be fired. If it was the other way round and producer punched Clarkson would the show be suspended like this? Would the producer still have a job a half million petition to bring him back? If there was a fight between them behind closed doors then maybe, just maybe they could sort it out between them. But in the public? It becomes something more...this is public behaviour.
If Clarkson did punch him then it's assault pure and simple. Do we just ignore it and give out the message this is ok to do? No we do not. Last time I checked punching someone was still illegal.
Yes, it's a massively successful show and brings in huge amounts of money. I think what the BBC have done is show balls! The cynical amongst us would have expected the Beeb to not want to lose their cash cow and sweep it under the carpet, pay off producer and carry on like nothing happened for danger of losing said cash cow.
The BBC have to be beyond reproach. It's part of their remit. They are not a broadcaster like all the others. If they want to do away with the licence fee and make it a commercial station like all the rest then they could get away with the aforementioned cynical behaviour. They are the BBC. They cannot. They have a really bad stigma these days about very serious past incidents that they ignored. We all know what those are. They HAVE to be seen to not protect their stars and brush stuff under the carpet. No company should but especially the BBC given what's happened the past two years or so.

    so there are my thoughts.
if you miss the show watch the movie version.  It's more believable. "fast and the furious"

Samsung can do it because they just entered the DSLR business.  You're a wedding photographer, does Samsung have the color science and lenses to deliver you the results you can get with your 5D? (let alone FF DOF).  You're an architectural photographer, where are Samsung's tilt-shifts?  You're a documentary filmmaker, where's the Samsung camera with XRL inputs?   In Canon's labs I'm SURE they can do 4K with the 70D, for example, just like I can get 720p RAW out of the EOSM using Magic Lantern.  But it's one thing to tweak the camera in a lab to get 4K and another to put it in the real-world where it must co-exist with your working technologies which are important to your market, which is broad for Canon.  Or put another way, Canon can't do 4K without creating a lot of risk that they'll screw up something with their mainstream business.
I'm sure it's the same in Berlin, as it is in London, as it is here in Cambridge, MA.  Walk the street.  You'll count Canon after Canon in DSLRs, and some Nikons.  No matter how nice the NX1 might be, people want to buy the camera that fits their lenses, with menus they're familiar with, that their friends use, etc., etc.  If Samsung screws up a feature it's no real big deal for them, they sold a few thousand cameras.  Canon has a LOT more to loose so is more risk-averse about new features.  Canon probably sells more cameras in a day than Samsung in a year.  When Canon releases 4K, it has to be right.  Look at the problems Nikon had with its mirror assembly as it tried to improve frame-per-second shooting.  Large stakes.
    BTW, I'd rather have 1080 RAW from a Canon, than 8-bit 4K

I look at this and start to care alot less about a bit of moire and aliasing. They are giving you a gimbal at sensor level... It is incredible. This opens up far more cinematic qualities than 4K. Camera movement counts for so much.

    One day.

If you want a Video Camera then your expectations are way too High within this price range. Go for a Canon C300 or FS700 or even the BMCC. Like the Lumix GH4 this is a fantastic little camera for impromptu shoots, pick up shots or B roll. In my case most, if not all of the content ends compressed for the web or even MPG files for playback on screens at corporations, I can assure you that 98% of the people that views the content never sees any difference (2K or 4K) much less they will be pixel peeking or moire peeking. Its all in your head. My suggestion is Spend less time jumping from one technology to another and more time creating content even better MAKING money for you. Six years ago I bought a Canon 7D when it came out and that thing shot over 90K through the years (not counting stills) However, the last 2 years it almost sat idle replaced by a FS700 that became the workhorse. For ENG, Spots and even Conventions, the reason was ergonomics and time. The Olympus is an amazing camera for its size and Price, just like the pocket cinema, It has moire? put a filter on it or tweak the settings, No Global shutter? DON'T Pan too fast.  I have shot with 75K sony Cameras that had Moire galore, not one person cared. Just my five cents.

Honestly I think capturing random people out on the streets in certain situations can not be called filmmaking. There is a big portion of voyeurism in the game. And it is also annoying to have more and more self righous people around capturing every stupid single moment in life with all their DSLRs, cellphones, Ipads, Googleglass, drones, Googlestreetview, satelites and whatever and published to the world next day. Just had been too a great concert and it was so annoying to see all these stupid Iphones everywhere (Why don't the people just enjoy the music and the moment for great memories?).
The only good thing is that we become so used to all the surveillance that maybe one day no one cares anymore of any  imaginalbe humilation in public caputred and published on fucking Youtube by hard-working filmmakers

Jimmy reacted to Oliver Daniel in Sony FS7 Review – Shooting 150fps in the dead of night
Wow this thread got very personal. It's only cameras and "dog shit" talk! What's not to like?
Onto the FS7.... the menus are really my only strong criticism of the camera for these reasons:
The responsiveness is slow, which wastes time on a shoot.  The naming scheme and menu arrangement is complicated - everything is everywhere. For example, I want to select codec and frame rates in the same menu option. This slows things down too, especially when you are shooting 4k and then need a slo mo shot.
I would suggest ways to improve this by:
Doing a complete overhaul of the user interface, structure of the menus and naming scheme.  Improving firmware by making the buttons respond better.
Do I think this is a deal breaker?
Absolutely not - the menus are something you can get used to. It would be better to see an improvement - the camera is still the best option for the money and can match much higher priced cameras under skilled hands.  I would 100% recommend the FS7 as it's a brilliant all-in-one solution, and can be upgraded to raw.

It is smartphones AND apps... The two are symbiotic.
The cameras on modern smart phones are great, the apps are great... I can shoot and edit raw images on my Nexus.
As Mozim says though, this will help separate the two industries... Which I think is a good thing. Canon, Nikon etc can cater to people who care about lasting imagery, rather than shoot and share.
You say "no wifi on high end",,,, it doesn't need it, it doesn't need grading apps, facebook sharing apps.... Just a very low battery consumption bluetooth, like the NX1 has. Send the raw to your phone.... Grade and share (while the raw file is uploaded to dropbox, for backup). Let the phone do what it does best. Simple.
