You have made a nice, flat profile.. A great starting point for grading... It is not log though and never will be... It cannot retain highlights and shadows like a true log file can.

Fingers crossed for a 1DX-II update too.... Could make for something of a perfect hybrid camera, once c-log is added (or maybe a 1DC-II at NAB)

You bet, and it even has been proven scientifically. It was a report in a german magazine for cinema owners some 20 years ago, so I have no links for you to read, but let me explain the method:
The same film was shown to big audiences various times in the same cinema, in mono and surround, with different sound levels. Right afterwards, the people were asked to sum up the plot on one sheet of paper. The most accurate and most detailed descriptions came from those who listened to the loudest surround screening. A good sound mix also emphasizes emotions much better than the best graded images. Those audiences also generally liked the film more.
Personally, I often think that very much stylized and abstract images with very rich and atmospheric sound and music work best to trigger the 'suspension of disbelief' and let the viewer invent his own, deep and emotional story. Much in the way you lie in your bed and listen to your grandma's voice who reads you a fairytale. Is what you imagine then less intense than the latest Hobbit? I don't think so.

I think composition, lighting, movement (or as you say, lack of) and sound* are the big factors. Camera aesthetics do play some part, especially dynamic range, highlight rolloff and colour.
*Obviously sound doesn't affect the image, but it is a massive part of making something cinematic.

But even if it was just 1080/24p only with the alexa sensor... I'd be all over it... that sensor is pure magic

The idea that the current minis are now nearly obsolete is a bit daft.... most rigs will have a mattebox/ND setup and the extra interface dials, while nice, are hardly essential
Ps - the mini pro is a stunning camera ... easily up there with the big boys for just $6k... insane

I think they are trying to address the "blackmagic are always delayed" issue. The easiest start to this is a production camera that will ship much smaller numbers. Which is the case with the mini pro.
Hopefully, once they streamline their production process, they can then look at a smaller product that will shift 10,000s... on time!
I think it's a smart, long term move.

The opening shot is really nice, imho. That's what I want from IS, just a certain smoothness to handheld, non moving shots.

Like i said... i seriously don't care if there is a small crop, as long as it works. It's an s35 sensor... a small crop is hardly life changing.
A small crop on the xc10 is much more serious due to the small sensor... yet i still dont care... because it works!
The g85 cant have magic lantern... so no point thinking about it in terms of my original post

Yeah if the ML team has the inclination, and it's possible, the 77D could be a great option for low cost, handheld ML Raw.
The software based IS in the XC10 is the best IS I have ever used. It's better than the IBIS in the a6500 and the GX85... no question.
Other than a strap I was pulling taut, there was no other physical stabilization. During this shot(s) I walked forward backward and shuffled sideways... try and do that with a Panny...

If the stabilization is Software I don't think it will be Applied to undebayered Data because normally it implies rotation, etc. Maybe they could write the Data from the giroscope to a file and use that for a Software stabilizer on the Computer. But those are many Maybes.

Exactly.... I dont really care how they do it, if it looks good, it looks good.
Good IS, amazing AF and 1080p raw would be amazing... at this price point.

I noticed this one in Particular. It kind of proves what panasonic have been saying all along, that 'the autofocus is significantly better, and more noticeable for video'. And, this isn't even the final firmware.

The point has been missed a bit.... I'm not suggesting the iphone is a great tool for wedding videos... or that it is a cheap way to do it.
All I'm saying is that the composition, editing, sound etc have made this look really good and something we often lose focus of
