Kubrickian got a reaction from mercer in Canon XC10 4K camcorder
Thanks. No, I would just leave the mic on 0db with about +32 on the volume in the XC10. Part of the reason the vocal track sounds good in that video is a solid multi-band compressor applied in Premiere with about +3db treble. Then I also put an EQ on the music taking about -8db out of the 3000 and 7000 bands so the voice cuts through it.

I recently had to travel around Europe on a job documenting Study Abroad classes. The XC10 made it easy and pleasurable. This was shot in all 1080 c-log, not 4k if you'd like to check it out.

C300 mk II is now only $10,640 , cheaper even than B&H ($11,999)

Kubrickian reacted to Mattias Burling in 1080 vs. 4K: What is REALLY necessary?
For me resolution is nowhere near the top of the list of what makes a good image.
When I compared the 4K NX1 and RX100iv to the 5Ds HD Raw, the Canon won.
The BMPCC or Bolex runs circles around GH4s and Sonys, imo.
Same thing happens with still cameras.
Plus I don't know how many times I've done blind tests and not even the biggest 4K evangelists of this and other forums can tell the difference.
Now, if we have HD vs 4K and all else is equal, both shooting Raw, wide DR, nice color science, etc.. Then 4K might come in handy. But its not needed for any of the work I do personally. Not until its a standard, and thats years from now.
So with that said, I still buy HD cameras and have gone back and forth from 4K many times.

Amira is like a lighter, simpler Alexa. Amira is just a beautiful, even the 200fps looks amazing from it, and you can get upscaled 4k that looks better than some native 4K.
here's an unused shot from a shoot on Amira. This is 1080p i beleive 200fps 422HQ in log. Try it out! This link will work in about an hour.

You can move colour all over the place, the latitude is incredible. It's pretty heavy though so not suitable for everything, but in pure image terms I'd give it the number-one spot.

Kubrickian reacted to Brian Caldwell in GH4 and Canon EF Speed Booster question - which lens?
As long as you use a fullframe (24x36mm format) master lens, then both the 0.71x ULTRA and 0.64x XL will work fine.  The ULTRA is a little better corrected in the outer part of the image, but this is mainly important if you want critically sharp results at f/1.0 with a Sigma ART or Zeiss Otus, and would not be noticeable with a slow lens like the Canon 24-105.  If you plan to use an APS-C lens such as the Canon 17-55/2.8, then you should be aware that you may encounter slight vignetting when shooting HD (not 4k) with the 0.64x XL.  The reason for this is that even though the XL itself covers the entire m43 image just fine, the image circle of the lens is too small to cover after it is multiplied by 0.64.

Wow that seems to make a difference with the Video Mic Pro, I've never had good results with it on a DSLR. NX1 preamps especially seem pretty poor.
    Nice job sir.

These are just some quick random samples with a variety of settings. I wouldn't pixel peep to much as most are canon log and not sharpened. Like I said just random shots.
Cinegain- I'm not sure why you say it has specific qualities. I feel it's a more well rounded video camera than the gh4. There is a lot of mis information on the internet about this camera.

I feel like the people in this thread that are in denial about worker exploitation are the same people that gave Philip Bloom the benefit of the doubt over his domestic abuse. The world doesn't always adhere to your majority view. It's a deeply unjust place.

Canon recommends exposing middle grey in c-log at something like 35%, but this camera benefits from ETTR. The image will be cleaner and nicer for sure. Don't be afraid to crank the ISO and do a little denoising in post. I would aim for caucasian skin tones to be at 50-60% on the waveform.
If I have to shoot in very low light I just grab the sigma 18-35. All the reception scenes in this wedding video (towards the end) were shot with that at 1.8 and around 2500 ISO. To my eye it was way darker in there than it looks in the footage. https://vimeo.com/124542801

I only have 4K footage from my LX100 available, searching online for at least 10bit 422 4K and I could do a real test right now. Could upload a screenflow clip jumping between 1080 RAW (bmpcc) and 4K once I get my hands on a clip.

EDIT: Found a clip shot with the BMPC 4K, downloading now.

Yeah you have to go into your menu favorites to switch to 60p. Keep in mind the audio is compressed 256kbps in mp4 and linear PCM in AVCHD - so if you think you might have to do a lot of audio manipulation in post, you should probably go with avc.

I plumped for the C100 MK2 a few months back. Love it. It is so easy to use and the image really does look nice. Yeah, it's not 4K but at this time and the clients I work for (weddings, events, conferences and web videos for businesses) who cares. I replaced my GH4 with it, no regrets at all. I can just pick up this camera and away you go, long battery life and due to the codec sizes a 64GB card can last me all day at a wedding.
Lens wise, I have the Sigma 18-35mm (great lens), Sigma 24-105 and the Canon EF-S 18-135. I do find the Canon lens slightly softer but it works a treat with the Dual AF system and Face autodetect.
I generally shoot in Wide DR, would anyone have any good picture profiles they'd recommend. For things like weddings, I prefer as near as possible out of the camera.
I've still to actually try C-LOG properly!
