  1. Well that's pretty darn cool. https://photorumors.com/2018/04/10/major-firmware-updates-coming-for-the-fuji-gfx50s-x-t2-x-h1-x-pro2-and-x-e3-cameras/
  2. I'm in no way saying I need it. I'm just guessing that Nikon will go for improving the image quality in some way with the new sensor patent. True 16-bit files slightly better for post work and color. 14-bit is plenty, but Nikon need a selling point and this could be one of them for the camera.

You don't want a EF mount with a sensor smaller than Super 35, it makes finding good wide lenses difficult. It's why the original blackmagic camera started shipping with the MFT mount after everyone had issues with EF, finding a good wide was a huge issue (and why the Tokina 11-16 sold like wildfire for awhile) If the sensor is Super 35 or Larger EF would make sense, if it's smaller there is no logical reason for it.

They would have put 4.6K in the name if it was.
  5. Medium format color in a small camera.

Very glad they are integrating Fusion into the main workflow! Hopefully this brings advancements in Rolling Shutter repair and other effects.
  7. Pipe dream here, what would be interesting would be if that new image sensor gave us true 16-bit colour.
  8. D850 has a better bitrate, better lowlight, and you can shoot both Full Frame and Super35 on it. D5 does not have Full Frame shooting. Honestly I would get the D850 to take advantage of the lenses you have.
  9. Very interesting comparison. I actually prefer the Sony's here in your landscapes, and go back and forth on those two music videos.
  10. Nice, looking forward to seeing it! If it's good I'll probably re-buy the NX1. I don't think you would face legal problems in this regard unless you resell it. For example if you bought NX1's, made a hardware modification and then sold them for profit then you might be in legal trouble. But even then Samsung is no longer selling the camera, they cannot claim lost revenue from your actions. If your telling people how to modify the hardware, you shouldnt face any legal ramifications.
  11. I say mostly wait. Sell your D700 and get a used D750 as a stop gap. Gives you a second better video body and a better photo body. Wait on everything else. Get the Sony if you want to drop Nikon. I did it, but it was a relatively rough transition, and a lot of your Nikon lenses wont AF properly on the Sony for your photo work. If Nikon makes a good mirrorless stick with them, if not switch to another brand.
  12. It's definitely S-gamut. This is just with Color Space Transform and a little gain applied. Also love the look your getting here.
  13. There are UK service centers, at least according to the Philip BLoom video above.

    NX2 rumors

2 Things 1) I believe it when I see it. 2) If it is real: I hope it has improved RS, because that is what killed the camera for me.
  15. Terrible characaters, terrible "race-relations". A Fricking "Kick me" sign...REALLY??? A plot with an obvious payoff and a completely botched climax. Did not enjoy it at all.
  16. If your using S-Log in any form the screen dims while recording.
  17. Keep in mind that the A7r II dims when recording video, the A7 III does not. This might make it much easier and the punch in might be cleaner.

Get a 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide. Perfect single screen size in my opinion, started using mine and will never go back. You don't have to deal with scaling issues and gives you tons of screen real estate.
  19. This video is absolutely wonderful, completely changes how I edit LOG from now on. Thanks!
  20. Every time I start getting to spec obsessed I try and watch that video. Completely ignores the shutter speed rule, contrasty as hell, warp stabilizer everywhere, but man what an incredible result.
  21. "Mojo" is different than "lighting and composition skill" And again it is all down to taste, even with the most famous of painters certain people will and wont like their work. For example I REALLY do not enjoy this frame you posted. The grade is over-the-top, with shadows pushed up. Some may love it, I don't. Also to go even further I loved seeing The Desolation of Smaug at 48 fps, I loved it and I loved the 3D. For me high frame rate is perfect for 3D films. The majority of the moviegoing public think differently.
  22. But here's the thing, almost every camera nowadays can get you there if you have a good story and incredible content. That video would be impressive even if it was shot with a GH2. You can get a great image out of almost every camera nowadays, it's just what you will sacrifice for your shooting style. I gave up the skin tone of the NX1 for the better rolling shutter, DR, and full frame of the A7r II. Because with how much I shoot handheld dealing with the NX1 RS was not worth it. Edit: Believe it or not, because of your wording I thought the above video was shot on a A7 series. Didn't know until I read description that it was a Canon.
  23. Alright, for me it's low rolling shutter (motion) combined with great color (which comes down to taste a lot of the time). Saturation depends on the camera and project. Really do not care that much about sharpness as long as it's above 1080p.
  24. NX1, if it didn't have really bad rolling shutter and poor support I would still be using it. The color dammit...I love my A7r II, but I am always chasing the skintone and color I got out of the NX1. Still working on an in camera profile that might come close.
