  1. Waiting to see the one thing that hasn't been addressed, how good is the rolling shutter on the camera?
  2. Honestly the biggest disappointment for me is the lack of 3D tracking in photo, it's there but takes much longer than their DSLR's to use. Battery also seems like a gigantic issue again. Buffer is also way to small I honestly have no idea why they would leave out dual card slots, they HAD to have seen the blowback Sony saw with that for years and that they would be directly compared to the A7III.
  3. For what you shoot, just get a used C100 and be happy

    24 vs 60 fps

In an ideal world for me it would be 24 fps for Drama and 48/60 for action. Unfortunately the Hobbit films messed it up so badly for everyone else.

It's a great lens, low contrast and slightly soft so it's very flattering. Used it a bit on my A7 series when I had it but have been leaning towards higher contrast lenses and away from the "classic" look so I sold it. Well worth $200.
  6. Honestly that was one of the reasons I sold my A7III. It's in such high demand I sold it at the same price that I bought it. Cinema cameras are dropping in price like crazy alongside old photo gear. So my plan is to shoot D750 for photo and video, investing more in glass. Then buy a video camera (probably a URSA). I don't currently make a living off of either, so this works best for me creatively.
  7. Direct from D750. Gotta love Nikon colors...and highlight rolloff...and motion. Wish the D850 was cheaper.

Nikon 70-200 VR version 1. Creamy goodness! Going for low prices right now, I got a mint copy for $750.
  9. Because I missed it, and my Nikon glass. Bought it mainly for photography, not video. Also I greatly missed the controls.
  10. Welp I just repurchased the D750
  11. What editing software? Premiere you want the best CPU possible, Devinchi Resolve is GPU hungry.
  12. Haha yeah. I used locking FD lenses on my A7rII right after switching away from a Nikon body. That was fun to get my head around.
  13. Don't forget to use Alister Chapman's "venice" LUT if your using the A7 III as a B-cam
  14. I loved my Nikon gear from an ergonomics perspective, but I agree with Robert, the position of the lens release does not make sense.
  15. I am 100% behind this. I recently lost my Plasma to the winds of time and had to purchase a new TV. It was almost impossible to find a TV that let me turn all the stupid enhancements off.
  16. Well in the past I would say it was more difficult to get a proper image out of Sony that the majority would find pleasing (especially for those who were using S-log improperly *cough*). With each new generation of their A7 series they have updated and tweaked their colors. Some love the look of the A7s and A7sII lines but personally I find the new cameras more pleasing. You could get there before, but not as easily. It really comes down to knowing the camera to get the best out of it, when there are so many options in camera to adjust the image, it becomes a matter of learning the camera and learning how to handle it in post.
  17. This is absolutely wonderful, and a great showcase for this profile. The batman suite reaction was hilarious! Hope everyone at camp enjoys the video! Also, curious what lenses were used?
  18. Haha love how big that mount looks! I think Nikon are desperately trying not to make the same mistake they did with the F-mount size Hoping they are going for a 5x7 ratio rather than the typical narrow 3 x 5. It would still be full frame so all the legacy glass will work but would give a larger image area.
  19. Definitely done in post, look at camera movement near the end of the camera flip. This was shot wide and cropped into.

    Trusty Voigtlander 40mm f2
  21. Shot with this yesterday on a shoot with quick turn around. All Procolor V4. Still need a little white balance to match (and Pre boat removal on the horizon )
  22. Well for 4000 iso this isn't bad
  23. Photography & not nearly enough
  24. Yeah next year when all the monitors/TVs start having adaptive sync and better HDR it will be a good time to upgrade. Don't know where monitors will go from there. 8K? No one would be able to see the difference. Glassless 3D? Less 3D content is being produced now.
