DBounce got a reaction from Rinad Amir in Panasonic GH4r
From what I've heard the cameras used  were prototype test units. Panasonic never released a beta firmware with V-Log. Also, there seems to be the assumption that if a feature can be added in firmware then it should be, as there is really no cost involved. The developers writing the code to add the new features do not work for free. So there is certainly a cost involved, but that's OK so long as it's not the consumer footing the bill right?  Software features cost the manufacturer money. It's not a freebee.
Makes sense to add it in a new model. Few and I do mean few companies will throw in major new features for free. There are exceptions... Samsung, please stand up.

Those that think the heat issue is nothing to be concerned about will learn a hard lesson when it comes time to resale this camera. Especially if the new model is free of this defect.

I'm sorry but the solution of having two bodies is a copout. Before I buy two A7Rii, I think I would just by one FS7 and be done with it.
Truth is I really wanted to like this camera, but for $3200, the overheat issue is unacceptable. Heck for any price the overheat issue is unacceptable. Can we all just stop tiptoeing around this thing and call it what it really is? The word is DEFECTIVE!
There I've said it, the Sony A7Rii is DEFECTIVE. Don't give them a pass on this. It is UNACCEPTABLE. Name  one other product in your possession that this would be OK for? Your car? Your computer? Your phone? This camera is DEFECTIVE, and frankly, a recall is in order.

I recently came across the below video and thought it looked pretty good. This was shot on the NX1. I think it shows that the NX1 can truly be as professional as you choose to make it. In the right hands it can produce very good results. For me this really does beg the question that I'm seeing popping up more and more... Is it worth it to spend $3k + for  a camera body when your story could be just as compelling being filmed on a more budget friendly option. And before anyone brings it up, yes yes yes I know about the transcoding from h.265 overhead, but I suspect the downside of h.265 will soon be an upside as support for the new standard becomes widespread. Indeed, in due time I have little doubt many will be seeking out h.265 cameras.

I'm certain it isn't worth three times as much. And with the overheating, I'm not convinced it's worth as much as the NX1... Certainly not if you're using it primarily for video.
Imo, the NX1 is punching way above its weight. While I was honestly hoping the A7rii would be an all around champ, the overheating issue appears real, and while it can be mitigated it cannot be fixed (an external recorder defeats the point of this camera).
The main flaw of the NX1 H.265, is not really a flaw... It future proofs the NX1.

Well I have to disagree... Sort of... The a7rii is just as much about 42mp images as anything else. So if the goal is an all around camera, then the clear choice is the A7rii.

It seems the op is trying to get us to consider the other qualities of a camera aside from 4k. But this is really a mute point, because there is 4k.

DBounce got a reaction from jonpais in A7Rii Overheating Problem Solved
I recently watched a video in which the reviewer claimed that there is a quick and easy fix for the Sony A7Rii and RX10ii overheat problems. He claimed all that need be done is to position the display so that it is away from the camera. He said by doing this he was able to record over an hour no problem.
I'm sure many here would be interested if this claim can be confirmed. Can someone with an A7Rii perform a test and report their findings here?
    Claim is at 00:19:30

I can understand where you are coming from, but FS7 and Ursa Mini are both permit cameras, whereas the A7 series are not. That means a lot more flexibility in these little cameras as far as real world practicality.

Well we can expect to see people unloading their A7Ss on ebay and the prices dropping pretty soon, as it seems the A7Rii will be a more balanced camera in a smaller form factor when shooting 4k.
