  1. It's sad to say, but most of those defending China could really give two flying f... about the Chinese people. They just want their iPhones and Nike shoes... who cares how many suffer to produce them? Who could care less if they are all dying from pollution?... so long as it's over there... and not here.

Regardless of how you feel about Trump... he's right! It doesn't matter how he arrived at the conclusion... He's just plain right. And those of you that would argue otherwise are unknowingly Pro-No Human Rights and Pro-Inequity. Some things matter more than gadgets.

Ehm, I don't see the problem in that glitter women picture, I think it's perfectly sharp, look at the nose, those hairs. That's typical bayer pattern detail.

Maybe you are not used to DOF in medium format, portrait shots are more like macro shots DOF wise.

Most won't, and if that's you, no worries. Many shoot with vintage glass and are quite happy even though most of that glass struggles to resolve even 8MP images. Let me demonstrate the problem: from the images in the sample gallery, take a look at the image of the rock climber. Adjust the image to 1:1, and look at the rock climber. I think that we can both agree the image is definitely soft. The issue really comes about when the photographer intends to crop in on an image. If this is not a concern of yours... great. You will no doubt save tons of money by using less accurate glass.

looked a bit into lenses offer, mostly fuji of course but i am surprised to see that prices are not crazy. pretty sure it will sell well.

personaly i would go for it for photography if i had the money

I think those lenses are going to be replaced in the near future. The are not optically precise enough for this sensor.

That's awesome. I can't wait for 100 MP video to be streamed over fleets of 7G directly into my VR headset so I can watch movies like this from bed.

True, but in real use I like the sensor to outresolve the lens, so the lens acts as an OLPF or anti aliasing filter. Optical imperfections add character, digital imperfections mess up the image. Unless you need to actually resolve 100 million individual dots in which case... wow.

The newest Fuji lenses can resolve an 8k image... around 32MP... that falls waaaayyyy short of the 100MP that this new camera sensor resolves.  A still at 1:1 looks bad. It should look clear at 1:1.

Amazing! It looks like the lens runs out of resolving power way before the sensor does. It’s still incredible, but Fuji needs better glass to match this level of sensor.

It looks like to me a XT-3 with greater DOF.  I don't see any early output that just takes my breath away on the video side. It is pretty impressive for MF no doubt. But is it worth 8500 Dollars more to get that?

The dynamic range and highlight roll-off look better than the X-T3 to my eyes. The greater dof and wider field of view (without barrel distortion) make the footage appear almost anamorphic. Granted without the typical oval bokeh and lens streaks. It's a distinctly different look to anything out of the X-T3. Mind you I did like the footage from the X-T3, and found it "fun" to shoot with. But this GFX100 seems to render a very unique look imo.

The only problem I have with it is there is sooo much on the horizon atm. The new Hasselblad will likely bring huge improvements now that they are owned by DJI. Also we have the soon to be announced Panasonic... that frankly no one expected. We can only ponder what that will bring to the table? Until those question are answered I will hold off on adopting a new system.

As for the price... well what else can match these spec for less? And the $10K become close to $15K once you start adding lenses... which you will of course need.

  7. While I will agree that the  GFX100 is an impressive camera when compared to full frame, comparison to the Hasselblad H6D-100c seem a bit silly... lets not forget that the Hasselblad has a much larger sensor. The GFX cameras are what I would term "mini medium format" or "full-frame XL". Consider the following:

    Sensor size Hasselblad vs Fuji:

    Hasselblad: 53.4 x 40.0 mm vs Fuji: 43.8 x 32.9 mm

    Pixel Size:

    Hasselblad H6D-100 - 4.6 μm  Fuji GFX100 - 3.75 µm

From what I have seen so far the footage looks good. It's no doubt a huge breakthrough for price and features, but it's no Hasselblad H6D-100.

After reviewing more footage, this might be my new favorite footage out of any mirrorless camera. It's up there with the best of them to my eyes. Still watching samples... more to follow.

  8. I'm thinking this will be something completely new. Not a S or EVA line camera. The rumor said it's using a completely new full frame sensor. They also went on to state it's a "cine dream". So I'm expecting to be blown away.

If you're gonna dream while you're at it you might as well dream big.

    1. The organic sensor with pixel level sensitivity... no ND needed... and its global shutter to boot.

    2. Canon XC15 form-factor.

    3. Timecode support with jam sync.

    4. Rotating screen.

    5. Usable AF.

    6. AI effects... film simulations etc...

    7. Hyper smooth electronic image stabilization in S35 mode.

    8. Usable ISO 12800.

    9. Robust codecs.

    10. Bit rates of 10 or 12 bits.

    Did I miss anything?

Who is going to upstage who?

The Sony event is most likely to do with the Venice line.

The Panasonic event seems the more interesting of the two. Will we finally see that organic sensor that has been in development for more than five years? If we do that would be truly revolutionary. Let’s hope so???

JAJAJJA....trump should be in jail if is not for the GOP who protect him, trump is a criminal, a Russian Asset...and  a Liar.

What happened to  "Mexico will pay for the wall"???? he said that thousand of times, is he doing what he promised??NO AND NO...stop watching fox news 24/7 open your eyes....you are in the trump cult.

The real enemy for the West is Putin, he wants to destroy The West from the inside, he is using propaganda and right-wing extremist in order to reach his goal.

Trump is following Putin's orders, he owed the Russian mafia billions has no way to pay them but to obey...and by the way trump IS AN IDIOT

You spout out a lot of accusations... backed by zero proof. Russia Russia Russia... but after four separate investigations all we have learned is that it's the democrats that have paid the Russians for their disinformation to use as dirt on Trump. You and your ilk have hoped for indictments... no worries,  you will get them. But be careful what you wish for... it's Democrats under investigation now. I promise you they won't be charged with mere process crimes.

You're going to see them protest... they know they have to stop Barr... his digging will land many of them behind bars.

WTH... and Trump is your friend...?!

C'mon, give us all a break and yourself too to begin with BTW : ) Stop to be naif! : -)

I have no beef with him. He’s been in the public eye for years and I never heard anyone call him racist... until he ran for office. He was well like in Hollywood... until he ran for office. He was an idol to black rappers world wide... until he ran for office.

Honestly, it’s not like he did anything surprising... everything he’s doing, or trying to do is stuff he ran on. The real shocker is perhaps that politicians never do what they promise to do... so everyone is speechless when one does.

The former leadership wanted to hand the world to China on a golden platter.

    Remember this nonsense?

If I have a beef, it’s with those that pray for the countries demise. There are actually people hoping for the economy to fail. There are actually people that were disappointed that he’s NOT a Russian asset.

No worries... The tables have turned. Four separate investigations and none have found anything on him. They’re trying to subpoena his tax records to find something... anything to remove him from office. Well good luck with that. The IRS has audited him plenty... that’s what they do. And guess what? Nada! Finally those that worked in secret to subvert the nation are under scrutiny... I suspect that in the coming months many of them will be looking at serious prison time.

  12. @MochaP I hear you mate, I recall when Hong Kong was given back to China. Many tried to flee to the UK. It’s hard to live in a free society and suddenly lose your rights.

Too many on this forum seem to be backing the wrong team for the sake of cheaper electronics. As far as I’m concerned, while I enjoy cameras, smartphones and other gadgets, human freedoms take precedence over silly toys that will be worthless in five years.

The West has its flaws, but it’s still a beacon of hope when compared to communists countries. It’s too bad so many spoiled, self loathing western can’t grasp that fact. If the West falls, it will be those ingrates that caused its demise from the inside out.

Make no mistake of it... China is a enemy of the West. This may change in time... but there is no guarantee it will.

  13. China was perhaps trusted too much... they are still a hostile power. While I understand that the NSA has backdoors in most smart hardware... including lightbulbs and microwave ovens; the NSA is not considered a hostile power to those living in the western world. It's unlikely that they will steal you credit card information,  or bank account info. China is yet another story. I understand that many here like Huawei phones,  but how many here would like their phone to be used to remotely initiate a cyber attack unbeknownst to them? Such an incident could leave the owner of the device with some difficult explaining to do.

I'll pass, I don't need to expose myself to that kind of liability.

Truly random numbers can be generated on a smartphone by using data from the sensors to seed the PRNG. You can do this in java or kotlin. It's an extra step, which means more time to code. The original issue arose from that fact that the PRNG utilized non-random seed values (serial numbers etc...). If you know the seed value used by the PRNG, and you know the algorithm used to generate the random key, well you can crack the code. It's all in what you are securing and how secure it needs to be.

What, you think both those cameras just came out 2 months ago? Hell they are both nearly ready for a upgrade. The S1 is the only Mirrorless I would buy right now.

Did you buy one? It doesn’t do Panasonic’s sales figures any good to produce a camera that “would be” customers claim to love, but nonetheless fail purchase.

For myself, if I wanted one I would already have bought one. I have zero interest in purchasing either of these new full frame Panasonic’s. However, I do look forward to seeing the next iterations of these S series cameras. Hopefully, the successors will not lack woefully absent features of the current models.

Sporting Sony’s newest 100MP sensor, the new Hasselblad could be an amazing entry into the market. For me, it would need to be stellar to warrant the investment. If it doesn’t blow me away I’ll pass on that also.

The bar has been raised, as most of the current cameras are pretty good. Granted, none are perfect... but what is?

Your top 100 list must be from a year ago. You think thousands of people on Amazon are buying 2000 dollar cameras! I would bet no camera Under 400 bucks is in the minority.

    https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Electronics-Digital-Cameras/zgbs/electronics/281052

Oh my bad, yes I own Amazon, “my list” is from a year ago, that’s why the EOS R and Nikon Z6 are on there? even though neither camera has been out that long.

Is it really that hard to believe that the Panasonic S1 is not selling? Did you buy one? I can tell you I know of no one that did.
