I have monitored this every day read every post and I have left it all running while Andrew has been away filming,
I think the forum handled it very well , we have all been lied to over a long period of time by the highest rated member on the forum ,
A crime has been comitted with a web of lies and forum member are victims of this crime.
ES has no loyalty to EOSHD or its members we are all pawns to his game , he didn't care who he scammed the money from.
I would ban him with out hesitation.  everyone scammed MUST be refunded asap.
An example must be shown we will not tolerate this on the forum we all love and contribute so much to.
ES fate lies in Andrew's hands its his forum.

If anyone on this forum donates a single penny to the people who were scammed then you are the biggest fools and are doing nothing to help this situation.
This kid is hitting refresh every 5 seconds and every bleeding heart, call for forgiveness, and donation promised turns this piece of shits frown a little more upside down... And his hand further and further from his wallet.

A crime was committed here and all the people ripped off need refunding until that is done we should not be so quick to forgive, ES has to make good on his word to pay everyone back. , as they still may not get their money back there is no guarantee of that . Andrew Reid can be the final say on ES and his fate on this site.

For the people that got scammed this sucks and I'm sorry for your loss.
On the bright side, this has been one of the most entertaining forum threads that I've ever read In my life LOL. I know this sounds like I'm a jerk(and I probably am), but I'm just being honest. This is becoming like a reality tv show LOL.
Anyways, this whole thing is weird and I'm not completely buying that Egyptian doctors story. If his story was true, and if he cares about his name so much, and if he's rich, he should have refunded these people already. If this was done, this thread would have died a long time ago. Him leaving the EOSHD forum only benefits him and adds more question marks to his story. Also, him wanting to leave the forum without wanting to give refunds doesn't make sense. This is not sounding honorable to me at all. If you're a man of honor deal with your problems with the people that have been effected.
Don't write a post to say where you live and to apologize to save your reputation. That's selfish and only thinking of yourself. Just PM the victims and pay them back; that's being a man of honor.

Look around where you live and work each day.  Are your walls white?  There's a fair chance you're being irradiated by the titanium in the pigment in the paint, depending on the source.  And anything else painted white or with white pigment.

Back in the '80s and '90s my dad worked as a chemist.  One of his last jobs was as a pigment specialist for this company that, among other things, made an alternative to the titanium-based white pigments used in everything from paint to plastics to food.  He came home rattled one night because while the company tried to sell customers their product they still did a lot of color matching formulation for all kinds of products and still did a fair amount of work with titanium and they got a particularly "hot" batch from China that somehow made it through Customs and was sitting on a barge.  Nobody knew what to do with it that wasn't going to amount to an international incident.

He knew that much of the time the metal had trace amounts of radioactivity but it was within EPA standards.  This was apparently closer to nuclear fallout level stuff that only got found out because someone got curious.  Who knows how much had already come in like that or would come in like that in the future.  I was told not to talk about it with any of my friends at school and we never really talked about it again.  I still don't know what happened to the barge full of the stuff but I think about that night every time I stare at a white wall or something made of white plastic.

I'm not worried about these lenses.

Andrew, our body receives a natural telluric daily dose of 0,5 μSv per day. If you add to this natural one, the industrial, medical, cosmical etc it makes approximately 2,4 mSv/year (people get unequally 1,5 to 6,0 mSv/year in France - official numbers! Check it: http://www2.cndp.fr/themadoc/radioactivite/radioactiviteimp.htm ).

What the specialised guys told me yesterday is that even if it doesn't stay around your neck or on your chest for hours, (or under your bed), it's still dangerous because of lost dusts. One of the main risks is to let it fall and break it for example. Vacuum cleaner wouldn't help you there…
Once ingerated (accidentally of course), Radium 226 is known to stay on bones and in liver for life!

Maybe you think that if all this was true it would be a more widely reported issue? I agree, but you need to know that the famous firemen department where I was yesterday has just added my Mamiya in their "hot" database. Think about it. I've sent them some other links cause they asked me for. I don't know why it's not much more a reported issue… but it should be!
I had enough of contradictory forums that's why I took a train to get personnaly a real specialist. We made 3 different test and they were all very bad (results are in my top post). Takumar f1.4 is known to be worse than Mamiya, so what I say comes from pros, not from this rich but unreliable world wide web. Anyway, each one is free.

Hi all, OP here. Thanks for the support. Healthy scepticism also always welcome, I know that would be my approach as well.

Justice and taking responsibility are a different matter though. I am truly, truly baffled by what happened. Can't get my head around the fact anyone would do this for this amount of money. Whether it's junior (ab)using his shared account or if they're both in the know; both bizarre.

Im not a rich man but if I ever get scammed by someone like that, I would VERY happily spend the $1000 or whatever to fly there and find the guy and scare him VERY well.
That is not a threat, it is a promise. Scare/beat the shit out of/take every dollar he has and then enjoy my holiday.
We had a recent Tax scam here where I was called by 'the taxation dept' saying there was a warrant out for my arrest for tax evasion. This happened just after I had made some purchases and perhaps the sellers did not declare the full value on customs forms (naughty sellers!) At first my heart sunk. I thought it was legit. My wife googled around a bit and discovered it was a new scam. They leave you a phone number to call to sort out payment (to avoid further legal action of course) so I called and pretended I was really sorry and wanted to make it right and can I come in to their office with a cheque right away.
Geez I wish he gave me an address...

Mat Mayer reacted to OliKMIA in Miami Aerial and Hyperlapse Video
Finally, It was long and painful but I made it after 2 years of work. Here is my Miami video. Enjoy

Unlike cities such as New York, Paris or Dubai, no one ever did a real hyperlapse video of Miami so I had to fix this.

I started this project 2 years ago with hyperlapse experimentation. My first attempts were very bad and most sequence went to the trash bin. It took me a while to capture the hyperlapse sequence correctly (must be very very accurate) and then do the post-stabiliation frame by frame.
Hyperlapse is very time consuming. In average, one second of video takes 1 or 2 hours of work and I don't even count the failed attempts (either I fucked up, light was wrong or something/someone messed with my sequence on site).

    Techniques:

The video is 75% hyperlapse, 5% timelapse and 20% drone and aerial (rented plane and helicopter). I had a massive volume of video and photo (RAW of course) and I only used the tip of the iceberg.
I failed many times during my learning process but I now master the most complex type of sequence such as HDR Hyperlapse of Holy Grail Hyperlapse.

    Gears and software:

    Here is what I used:

    ► Hardware:
    - DJI Phantom 3 Pro with Mars Lite & Mayday Board
    - TBS Discovery Pro with custom GoPro 4 lens
    - Polar Pro Filters
    - Dynamic Perception Stage One & Stage R with NMX controller
    - Panasonic GH4, Lumix 12-35 f/2.8, Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 and custom made gimbal (Alexmos)
    - Canon 6D, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, Sigma 24 & 35mm f/1.4 Art, Canon EF 50 f/1.4, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L,
    - Cessna 172 & Bell-206

    ► Software:
    - Adobe Premiere & After Effects
    - Adobe Lightroom
    - LRTimelapse 4
    - SNS-HDR Pro

    How many pictures ?

Honestly I have no idea of the number of pictures taken and I find this point completely irrelevant. The number of shots and TB of hard drive is not a good metric and does not give any indication regarding the quality of the final video.
What I can tell is that I finally achieved a good ratio of shooting attempts / keeper sequence. When I started hyperlapse I had to discard 80% of my sequence, now I can keep 70-80% of my clips.
I also have a lot of unused sequence that I shot but didn't make it to the final video. I prefer to squeeze the best out of my project and not fall into the trap of "clips stacking" for the sake of it. This video is already long with its 4 minutes duration.

    Aerial Shots & Safety

I used a DJI Phantom 3 Pro for the aerial shots along with a TBS Discovery Pro fitted with a GoPro 4 black. I modded the lens in order to get a longer focal. Some shots were taken from airplane (C-172) and I also rented a Helicopter (Bell-206).
In terms of safety, the drone shots were line of sight only and below 400 feet following the AMA & FAA guidlines. 90% of the drone flight occurred over the water even if it's not visible because of the framing. For the remaining 10%, I flew over parks and empty area with the Phantom. I follow a precise scouting of the place before each flight and perform a thorough checklist.
And because shit happens, I also installed a Mars Lite parachute with a North UAV Mayday board (special thanks to Kyle) on the Phantom in order to prevent any damage/injury is something goes wrong.
Last, I had to notify the airport manager in some places before my flights and I stayed away from Class B airspace of Miami (I couldn't get clearance despite my request).

Much much more difficult and much more advanced, and F1.4 will give a completely different look & feel to an F2.8 on full frame, plus it's 2 stops brighter.
It's not right to go around multiplying apertures by crop factor.
An F1.4 on Micro Four Thirds is as a big a hole as an F1.4 on full frame.
If this lens is as stunning as the Leica 42.5mm F1.2, I will be buying one.
Plus... it IS a Leica you know!? It isn't a Zeiss. It's not a Panasonic. It's not a Canon. Leica designed optics cost a lot of money for a reason.
    No you can't dude.
First of all an image is a combination of camera and lens. Tell me about that full frame sensor camera that shoots 4K for less than $1200. It doesn't exist yet. Then add the cost of the 24mm for full frame. Forget about that mythical full frame 24mm F2.8 you seem to be in awe of... the premium, sharp, low distortion optics are the Zeiss Batis 25mm F2, the Sigma 20mm F1.4 and if you can forgive the lesser sharpness and more distortion, the Canon 24mm F1.4 - all of those push you quite far past 'affordable' when paired with even the cheapest GH4-standard full frame 4K video mirrorless body or DSLR, namely the A7S II or 1D C.
The GH5 paired with just two lenses, the Leica 42.5 F1.2 and Leica 12 F1.4 will have astounding image quality, likely bettering the A7S II or A7R II with the Batis 25 and 85 for FAR less money. Nobody complains about the Batis 25mm F2.0 price being $1200-ish and that is the nearest modern competitor to the Leica 12mm F1.4 in terms of image quality and modern build standards & AF.
All I ever hear is full frame this, full frame that, it's like people are blinded by the pure simplification of all the arguments regarding image quality down to one spec.
Not to mention the fact that if the GH5 has the GX85's in-body 5 axis IBIS, it will be stronger than a full frame camera in that respect too... And if it is Super 35mm you want, put a Speed Booster on it.
You could say that for $999 you can get an A6300 but the rolling shutter and overheating really kills it compared to what the impending GH5 will likely be capable of in terms of reliability and rolling shutter less than half of what kind of skew the A6300 produces. Then add to that $999 the cost of a 16mm F1.4 E-mount lens... oh there isn't one... ok the cost of a Speed Booster and full frame Canon 24mm F1.4L, and already you are past the $2000 point... Easily.
And that is why Bro... You don't knock this Leica 12.

I've just finished filming a short film.  We used 5D Raw, A7s + speed booster, GH4 + speed booster, and the XC10.  The best looking and "organic moving" footage in my opinion came from the 5D Raw and the xc10 in 4k.  The a7s was the 3rd best and the gh4 was the sharpest "out of camera".  We could have comfortably shot the whole thing on the XC10.

Unsharpened ungraded CLOG frame grabs. Having a 1 inch sensor is no hindrance for a shooter like me...i own multiple cameras and i light my shoots.  I'm invested in canon gear, it uses the same batteries as the 5D3, has good battery run time, doesn't overheat and captures excellent video quality that compliments 5D Raw. I don't have to carry around a 25lb camera bag with various lenses and accessories to be able to shoot dynamically with the xc10.  The only accessory I carry is a variable nd filter.  I like to minize rigging as much as possible and I don't want an xlr input on this form factor, a rode videomic pro is good enough.  The only thing i would like is a constant f/2.8 and true DPAF.  I wouldn't even bother with a C100-300 if it had those 2 features.

More ungraded frames of CLOG + Variable ND filter of me testing the cam on a poor trapped dog.

Minolta MD / Canon FD mount is your best choice, and go for fast primes

If you want to go native m43 mount, it's much more expensive, but you can have AF and stabilisation
Your third option is to get a 4/3 to m43 adapter, and get cheap 4/3 lens. You can have AF + stab with this option, but good 4/3 are rare even on ebay

    Sharpness: digitally applied
Resolution: number of megapixels on the sensor
Final image: a combination of sensor readout, image processing, compression, noise and all sorts of things - and yes digital sharpening in-camera or in-post
People need to start noticing when an image has been sharpened so they don't mistake this for better resolution.
Because it is preferable NOT to have it done in-camera.

Lowlight is terrible. I've read on a couple of reviews it's great upto 6400. More like 400.
Slo mo mode is far too limiting and looks pretty bad.
It does a lot of things but none of it particularly well.
Sony A7SII is a great tool in the bag. It's a difficult camera to use, however really stunning quality is achievable. Major downsides are battery life, white balance accuracy, 120fps mode is heavily cropped and really amplifies noise. I think I'll always have an A7S model in the bag
