Well, I did such a test already. I was doing such a DR test plus I wanted to stress test the tracker of resolve so I switched off the OIS. I cut out the windows and pushed the shadows of the room. Here are 2 shots of the test and the links to SOOC footage of this test.
    Classic Chrome footage: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2olmvdgjtjpr9gh/ClassicChromeDR.MOV?dl=0
    Pro Neg Std. footage: https://www.dropbox.com/s/clll4ofg8yjf6jf/ProNegStdDR.MOV?dl=0

Sorry, I just have a hard time to grab a still without color correction. So, the jpeg of the Classic Chrome footage is color corrected, too. It is almost SOOC (no cut out) and you can't push it much, because there is no information in the shadow. It's just shadow. ;-)

Well, I agree that Classic Chrome is a profile which you just don't want to touch, because of its gorgeous colours. I made a little video of a trip lately, and I just did some WB and exposure correction (maybe grain). The problem is, that you just can't do much with it in post. There is little latitude. You wont have a lot of dynamic range. There is a big difference between Classic Chrome and Pro Neg Std regarding DR. I agree totally, that skin tone is key. There was a post lately of a video with a girl that had a yellow skin tone. You don't really watch the video, you just wonder if she has a problem with her liver and if she went to hospital. If I could have the Classic Chrome colours with the flexibility of Pro Neg Std., that would be heaven. Unfortunately, there is no Film Simulation LUT for F-Log.

At least it's consistent regarding the ranking. Which means, I don't need to dig into the mathematical basis of both tests to find out which one is off.

Can I ask you for 5 sec footage of Classic Chrome and Pro Neg Std in a situation like this photo to illustrate that dynamic range difference? Thanks

I guess rolling shutter effect will be similar to Fuji Xt-2. 3x faster but also 3x or more the pixels to read if full sensor is read vs prior pixel binning.
For me, this camera is very good. But IQ will depend very much on the color profiles ( especially the the flat one and its DR ), how sharpness / detail is worked in camera and how the codec handles motion. This things don't come in the specs and are central for a good image. For that we just have to wait for good testing of the camera. Impossible to know earlier. I hope it's not as sharp (too sharp IMHO) , bad color, prone to motion artifact, and hot as the a6300. Makes moving images horrible and long recording times impossible. Hate that camera but good specs.

Lets slow the 4k/60 raw roll a bit. The em5mkII with its 14MB raws can do 50 before the buffer fills, the Pen F's raws are just over 17MB - even if they doubled the buffer size we're still only talking about ~80 frames before it fills. 4, 5 or 8 seconds isn't going to happen. And it's only S-AF, so you're only guaranteed to get one frame in focus. Thankfully its with the E-shutter, so less wear on the mechanical shutter.
Still the 24/30p bitrates are pretty nice. Everyone is talking about the 4k stuff, but the 1080p does 202mbps. Since RS on all the current 4k cameras is significantly better in HD, this could be one badass handheld cam when you just need HD as well.

I take back what I said in my last post. I just did some side by sides with my Nikon D5500 on the Flat profile (which i've previously described as having as much DR as the C100 II) and the Fuji is actually as good or better.
Attaching screencaps. Some extreme dynamic range tests.
Here's the D5500 with Flat profile

The Fuji at 1080p with ProNeg Standard profile, -2 shadows and highlights, -4 sharpness.
+1 stop of exposure compared to the Nikon (because the Nikon is brighter at the same exposure settings)

The Fuji at the same exposure settings as the Nikon:

Now with contrast at -100 using the Lumetri panel in Premiere Pro:

These were all at 1080p. At 4k there is even more headroom and the colours tend to be noticeably nicer.

I am just a guy with an independent voice in the world of camera reviews without hundreds of cozy ties to people from the manufacturers, without ads splattered all over the screen, without sponsors on my every video, yet still I find EOSHD mired in a world of cut throat rivalry. Only very occasionally like in the beginning with DPReview have I been given a leg up in this industry and even then it only takes one person like Barney to massacre that relationship too. The other blogs like NoFilmSchool, Cinema5D and NewsShooter spend 10's maybe even 100's of thousands of dollars trying to punt my homebrew EOSHD site into oblivion and I just find the whole thing utterly distasteful. Rather than offering a new talent an opportunity they instead I am treated like just another commercial rival to be beaten.
In the end it is up to you guys to choose. The managed platform of platitudes and advertorial, or the honest opinions and educational books of an artist/filmmaker.
    May the best guy win.

The XC10 is an out and out pro camera. It looks a bit consumer but that's part of its appeal. It's for ENG and doc work where small, light and inconspicuous is desirable. The images it delivers are for pro use, not just because of the broadcast approved codec but the superb IS, the log profile, the low noise, the good if not perfect AF, the ND, the colour space, the 10 bit output, etc, etc. None of that is consumer targeted.

The MJPEG makes perfect sense in this primarily STILL images camera. Is the perfect codec to pull still images from video. I think thats why it is there.

Codec's are like wine. MJPEG 8-bit 422 it's old and heavy. But it gives good motion and color. In my opinion, and solely based on the few cameras I used, Sony has bad colours and Panasonic has bad motion. I don't mind it being heavy and old if it delivers.

Experimenting with the GX85.  Shooting under sub-optimal conditions.  Bright mid-day light, hard shadows, etc.  Cheap Chinese speedbooster with a 55mm f1.2 FD lens, B&W 64x ND, and a Tiffen circular polarizer.  No lens hood.  Neutral color profile -5 -5 -5 -5.  Most shots @f2.

gatopardo reacted to Inazuma in I need footage from the Panasonic G7 and GX80
People always say - if only there was a camera with Canikon's colours, Olympus' image stabilisation, Panasonic's usability and Sony's features. Well we're getting close now with the GX80 and I think I can plug the gap on colours.
In the past I have actually shot the GX7 on jobs alongside my d5500 and (now sold) canon c100 mk ii. It is hard matching those cameras up and is part of the reason for why I'm so obsessed with grading and creating LUTs.
Anyway with all that said.. I have been spending long hours the last few nights trying to conjure a LUT to end them all. I think I am very close now. It is a LUT that makes your Panasonic video look like it was shot with the Nikon. But I need more footage to work with. If people could do me a favour and send me footage from their GX80 and G7's I would be very grateful. Most convenient places to upload them is to Dropbox or Google drive. Either post them to this thread or send me a private message. I would like unedited clips. Would be helpful to have footage from a variety of lighting conditions too. Please do send well shot stuff though... not overexposed with the camera going all over the place.
