    Mercer and I am about the Only 2 people on here that seem to give a crap about the old look. And there is nothing wrong with that. If you want the new look it is out there in spades. Nearly every camera new now has that look. And the PK4 has the new look, no surprise with the sensor it is using..

     

    I’ve been posting my work in the “share your footage” thread. You can find some in there and for a fact you did comment on my photography with the Pocket when I posted a website for my work a couple of months ago. 

     

    Anyway, I’m not talking about A look, as in ONE look. The beauty of higher bitrate, better codec/raw camera is that you can get unlimited looks. I assure you 99% of the “OG” look you’re talking about is hiding beneath multiple layers of color grading, added noise and compression. Just for fun, I’m going to shoot with both my OG and P4K this weekend and then match the footage and post it here to see if you can tell what’s what. Sounds good?

    @webrunner5 please stop reading B&H and Amazon reviews and then come here speaking like you have first hand expertise with the technology. It’s hysterical. 

    I don’t know why you’re saying not enough footage is being provided when there’s tons of P4K footage up online. You’re also comparing it to a camera (OG Pocket) that’s been out way longer therefor lots of more footage too find. 

    I will tell you that my reason to not upload a lot is because I’ve used the P4K for work, work that I’m not allowed to show because companies own the footage and it takes a while before it becomes uploaded to the public. Also, owning both the OG and P4K I will tell you, working with both then seeing the results are night and day. I save so much time getting the image that I want with the P4K while I would spend hours adjusting the OG pockets footage before sending it off to client. This goes with handling and shooting with the two cameras as well.

    I think what you’re missing is that ALL footage you see has been manipulated (and a lot of these people shooting and grading are NOT professionals). Also, I don’t think a lot of people are trying to get the P4K to look like the OG, it’s another market out there today and NO companies would come to you and ask for the “look” of the OG. No one would pay money for it (I’m not talking indie filmmakers here but corporate). 

    Again, someone wrote above the authority to speak out, and I agree, like intrigue me please, show me ONE thing you’ve done that could change my mind on that you actually know in practice what you’re talking about. I’ve never seen anything you’ve shot. Why in the world do you think anyone cares that you wanna buy a GH5s?

    I just put down an order for the G2X with Nucleus Nano for 600 bux! Never owned a gimbal before so will be interesting. All videos I’ve seen online says it’s a good gimbal and they’ve now shown it with the P4K multiple times.

    I’m on Mac, and I do have to download every new version from BMD’s website, but I just simply install it and assume it deletes the previous version. I might be wrong... hopefully I’m right because it would be stupid otherwise that in 2018 you can’t update a program unless you uninstall every previous version of it every single time you update. Especially the “industry standard” software. 

     

    OT, if it’s out of beta now and they want to push it as open standard then shouldn’t they get it out on the P4K like ASAP?!

    Hey guys, I’m shooting some interviews at the moment and have my T5 and an SD card in. But I only see the SSD. Why?

    Also, first time recording with microphone through the mini XLR input, I am NOT using phantom power at the moment but I have SUPER CLEAR audio. I’m monitoring with noise cancelling headphones. But yeah, I know someone earlier had problems with the input. I’ll try with phantom when we’re not shooting for the client.

    I have the BMD mini xlr and a NTG 2. Been working for 2 weeks straight so no chance to check. I also have 2 pocket4k now so will try both at home tonight and see if you just had a fluke moment when it happened.

    So I got my LX100-2 yesterday and wanted to pair it with it’s new Bluetooth option instead of Wi-Fi (like on M1). While setting up it tells you to “connect to WiFi to complete the Bluetooth setup”.

     

    WTF?!

     

    Anyway, I did that and then started the remote control which is 100x slower than on my M1. I’m using an iPhone XS Max for christ sake.

     

    How in the world is this possible?!

     

    Then I clicked the transfer image option and it says “connect to WiFi to use this option”.

     

    okay Panasonic, why the fuck is BT 5.0 an option on this camera?! Can someone explain what the hell is going on here?

    Yes there are baffling decisions going on but a lot of common sense too. I still do not like Blackmagic's launch strategy and initial shipping quantities, it is ridiculous to be tormented for months with a mix of teasing and social media hype - I almost went mad - but believe me it is worth the wait. Again like BTM says, far from perfect, or without quirks - but it is different to anything else I own and a worthy upgrade from the original - in fact it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than that first camera in every way. Something I did not realise until I actually turned up.

    I am going to have so many words to eat from this thread, I'll probably choke to death.

    I didn’t really care about the “outrage”, just glad you (just like me) got it in your hands finally. It’s a fantastic piece of tech that fulfills more than just my needs to shoot video. How did you end up getting it by the way, I don’t know if I missed it in this thread? Did BMD cave?

    So bummed about this tilta pack, still hope I can makeshift a way to use the nucleus N easy with the 8sinn half cage. (Which is crazy cause I paid 300 for halfcage/handle which Tilta has for half the price). Anyone know if the pistol grip/focus controller could be a good idea with the N motor? I feel like it would be a nice way to hold it handheld, one hand on grip, one on side handle.
