With the new BRAW codec, you shouldn't need to record onto anything other than SD cards.

BRAW Uncompressed is 550MB/s (30p) and I think if you want to shoot 4K 60p in both 3:1 and Q0 you'd have to use CFast or SSD.

I feel like anyone is getting in on P4K train, how can we be sure were this footage is coming from?!

cables free..If you shoot running it's safer

Someone know if unplugging the cable while recording corrupts all the current clip?

    Yeah, no cables.

And I don’t think it corrupts all files, probably the clip you’re recording, but nothing else.

First Bluetooth app for iPhone. BMD have an official app for iPad, but this is the first I could find for phones.

Also, here's some actual real world night footage. Ungraded and it looks pretty amazing to me. Lots you could do with it.

Yes, this is the kind of footage I've been waiting for! Think it looks fantastic, except the issues coming from the person handling the camera that is. Very impressed!

I just got an email from the camera store saying 'Your order is on the way'!

Needless to say, i was quite excited, and then I remembered I ordered something else from them yesterday (Sunday) so it's not the camera that's coming.  ?

I've been checking my email constantly today! Haha ?

That’s what old fellas said when AF was invented for photography. Do most pros shoot MF in photography today? No they don’t. Does that mean they can’t handle a camera? No it doesn’t.

I said the damn thing can’t focus: I meant by itself. I did not say I cannot do it. But let me assure you that manual focusing your camera while on a gimbal following a guy running on a mountain ridge is a PITA. When you tried DPAF and co for that kind of application there is no turning back. Stop thinking because it works for your application it works for all, and that if it does not work for other people's application it means they can’t handle it.

It was said as it was a breaking feature, like it wasn't worth shit because you have to manually focus. For other "application" than you running it on a gimbal where a follow focus maybe can't be use, I just think it sounded like laziness. Sure AF is great, but damn, I'd rather have MF than a broken (see ugly) over sharpened image. Again, it was just how the sentence was structured that got me thinking about how lazy people sometimes are when it comes to shooting. Imagine in the end, where would the fun in being a DP or camera op be if everything became auto and you actually don't have anything to do. Auto framing, auto perfect color application, auto follow subject on track, auto everything. LOL

3 - Most cameras are shit for various reasons and there is abyssimal margin for improvement, and it’s hard to find à cameras that does most things right.

    4 - can’t focus.

Sorry to break it to you, but on both these, that’s were you come in. Maybe you should learn how to handle a camera? I haven’t had a camera with auto-focus for maybe 6-7years now. And I have never had a problem focusing. Maybe step down your aperture, lol

Pocket 4K is flavour of the month but when people start to sit down and actually edit 4K 60p Cinema DNG on their machines, the tears of frustration are going to come pouring out. You think 1080p 24p uncompressed DNG was choppy to edit with big file sizes, you ain't seen nothing yet :)

This is why people transcode footage...

    Love this. Perfect!

and ugh, don’t understand the appeal with wooden camera. It’s way more expensive than competition and the design is so ugly. People won’t be impressed just cause they have some wooden details. Same thing for the BMPCC, I went with the tilta cage that actually looked nice.

I think I'm going to use velcro, or bring back that epoxy idea and stick on a shoe mount.

As for rolling shutter, the mountain bike video will give you a good idea of how much it effects the footage... It's not noticeable to me at all.

Hmm, interesting. You mean just glue it to a tiny cold shoe? I like that idea, minimal foot print.

I'm ready to order this camera pending rolling shutter info.

Haven't seen much in the released footage. Seems to be almost minimal.

What do you guys think about mounting a smartphone clamp to a cage to hold the samsung T5? I'd only use the setup while shooting RAW 4K DCI obviously. Then SD cards for ProRes. Been looking at 8sin's Scorpio half cage.

  10. So I’m all prepared with batteries and media storage, but not an adapter for my lenses. Because I’m going from aps-c lenses I’m looking at putting in an order for the speedbooster Ultra .71. But I have a question to you more technically involved guys; if metabones did make a specific speedbooster for the P4K down the line, how much better could that be? The Ultra .71 already pushes the lenses capacity in regards to the sensors size no? So there wouldn’t be a point to even create a specific speed booster, am I right?

The article also reads, “it’s been designed to be handheld,” rather funny, because best results will be had shooting on a gimbal, tripod or other support.

Still handheld even if you hold it up on a gimbal or even monopod for extra weight, no? ?

  12. I’m actually pretty excited looking at you guys pulling frames from these quicktimes and them looking so good. I’ve used the bmpcc DNG’s for photo work before, kind of just makes me sure I can continue and that the “photo button” on the P4K will be handy for me :)
