Nice Job!  I was reading a portrait photographer's book, back from film days, http://blog.kitfphoto.com/Zeltsman/chapter-12.html and his method was to get a basic fill-light going and then key from there, knowing he has a minimally exposed negative.  I've been leaning that way myself.  Anyway, those lights are PERFECT for that.  You can either bounce them off cheap foam-core or put some tracing paper in front.  Another design to look at is where you put the lights in a silver box and then curve a white surface above.  The old way they used to make studio soft lights.  Can't find an image easily on the Internet at moment.   Either way, use some single light LEDs as Key and hairlights and you're good to go!
And a tip for my U.S. brethren, after the November elections there is tons of foam-core thrown out by candidates, etc.  The backsides are usually white and usable.  So hit those dumpsters!

Forgive your lighting?  Why?  It looks like you know what you're doing.  From what I've found, much like music, what you take away is as important as what you do.  The space between the notes.  Those that know what to "hear" are ahead of the game.

Yeah, when folks say "it has good color science," they usually just mean "I like its colors." It's one of the scientific sounding terms people use to express an opinion as fact and to sound credible. The term "color science" seems to be especially popular with Canon lovers and Sony haters (I do personally prefer Canon colors to Sony's BTW).

    B&H:
A camera is manufactured in China by a person that needs food and energy.
It is flown to America by a plane and pilot and then offloaded by some people who all need energy.
It is transported and then packaged into a warehouse in Brooklyn by people and trucks that use energy.
After I have placed my order it is transported back to the airport by people and trucks consuming energy.
Flown to Sweden by planes and people.
Delivered by a truck to my town by trucks and people.
I walk to the post and pick it up.

    This is what a guy told me over at another forum;
"There are two things to install with NVIDIA cards.

One is the Web Driver. That will install the NVIDIA driver manager and will provide the BETA driver for MacBook Pro and iMac, as well as GPU support for NVIDIA cards on MacPro. That link is: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/92192/en-us

The other is CUDA driver. There's a lot of details on this if you care to read/search, but basically it allows GPU to do "work" that the CPU could do. The CUDA driver just needs to be updated for OS X 10.11. Most people do not do this regularly. That driver link is: http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

FYI - Adobe supports GPU acceleration and that is usually through CUDA or OpenGL. There is a bug with OpenGL and Adobe right now, so changing to CUDA fixes most of this for video apps. The "Metal" support is another issue entirely..." Hope it helps!

Unfortunately, most settlements are not instigated by the victims, but are brought on by lawyers.  I'm not saying that B&H didn't abuse workers, only that all companies, when they reach a certain size, are targeted by lawyers who make the real money.  It's the American way.  I have a fair amount of experience in Wall Street settlements and what the public sees as some large number, is actually quite small, a cost of doing business.  In other words, even if B&H were no better or worse than any other company, it would still end up paying $5.7 million to settle SOMETHING.  Generally, various law firms attack companies and join together to get something.  Not pretty!   I'd like to say the government is un-biased, but it too, is run by politicians looking to score points with voters (who never look at the details).
We all accept that this happens, I believe, because we understand the best we can do is keep a fire under everyone's butt.  If B&H was really bad they would get fined out of business.
If one doesn't buy what I'm saying then I ask, have you never gotten a ticket (for your car) that really had little to do with safety and a lot to do with shaking you down?
    Ahhh life!

I would like to hear both sides of the story too. My limited interactions with B&H have made me feel they are a league apart from anyone else. But that's obviously a customer's perspective.

    Hi guys!
Big thanks for all the feedback!! Good or bad, I trust you guys a lot!!
I had some major problems on the way... limit was 10 minutes, so I had to cut out at least 3 minutes, so every second counted (that's why the ending is really rushed, and some things don't make sense). I had 48 hours to edit the final cut, and good old murphy's law... my premiere started to play up, so I had to start again at one point, losing around 12 hours on work... long story short, it was crazy, so I focused mainly on the emotional tone of the story, hoping that the viewers could fill in the gaps.
    The gear I used was:
The 2 canon cameras (600d&700d) with cinestyle.
    Sigma 18-35 f1.8, Canon 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8. All used at F1.8.
Shark slider (great slider, worth every penny), with manfrotto 502hd head.
    Small Varavon T1 tilt jib.
40€ fog machine used in the scene at 3:34 and the last scene.
    2 Aputure´s LED HR672W, and 1 H198C (all great little lights).
    Thanks guys!!

I asked about something on the BM forum - if you have an SDI input, can you get a converted output from the HDMI of the Assist?
The answer was yes - good news to those who have a lot of HDMI gear but want to shoot with, say, one of the BM SDI-only cameras. If that answer is correct, anyway.
I have an HDMI viewfinder, a marshall monitor and a big HDTV on a roller stand for clients and whatnot. I also have a semi-regular muppets-type gig where we have HDMI splitters all over the set for puppeteers to see their moves (they bring their own HDMI TVs or monitors), so this is good news to me.

Best news I've read all day! The BMD Video Assist is shipping now. Very keen to see a head to head comparison vs the Atomos Samurai Blade which is also US$495 (am using a Ninja 2 right now on a music video shoot with a Sony F3. It is nice, aside from the low resolution screen and no SDI)

I've heard ridiculous statements saying "URSA Mini is dead" since the announcement of the Raven. The Blackmagic still has great ergonomics, 1080p LCD, XLR's, full ProRes, non-proprietary media and a very affordable but high quality EVF and shoulder kit.
My pre-order is still in place for the Mini, but I'm still open for options too. Apart from the RED badge, I'm yet to figure out how opting for the Raven over The Mini would be of any benefit. My clients never ask about the camera. Just the ideas.

It's funny how people act surprised... This is RED we are talking about... We all said right after they announced it that their 4K couldn't be for all. It's for people who want to shoot film quality images on a budget. Yes a cinema camera (its still a dragon sensor seriously guys !!!). Now the real problem I see is the crop factor.
Aside from that you still get a Dragon sensor 4K RAW 120fps camera for 10k.
Now I don't think that everyone needs a Dragon Sensor, but prior from this announcement you couldn't get a dragon sensor for less than what ? 30k - 40k ?
I think Red enlarged the choice for us. But if people thought they were going to have a run"gun camera from Red, they would be disappointed I guess

Having to go to the REDuser forum for info makes me cry!
So many posts along the lines of "C300 mk II D.O.A" and "I would hate to be Sony/Blackmagic/Canon now" ad nauseum.
Whatever you may think of prosumer cams like the C300 and FS7, you can shoot all day on a couple of batteries and some cheap(er) media. I like REDs cameras, but I really detest that place.

If this is the Dragon sensor, don't expect much out of it in low light. Most DPs don't rate it higher than ASA 320 with the Skin Tone OLPF (the one that doesn't make human beings look like horrifying zombie people). And if you're fine with that level of low-light performance, I don't see why you'd go with the RED over a $2999 Ursa Mini 4K, which has a much lower system cost, larger sensor, and gives you both ProRes and compressed RAW.

That's not even getting into the 4.6K, which, according to OneRiverMedia, can easily be pushed to ASA 3200 without issue, has higher resolution, delivers about the same usable dynamic range (except better balanced between shadows and highlights), and has an actual S35 sensor.

Honest question: What's the appeal? In the current marketplace, where is the Raven's niche? I don't see our crowd going for it. Most of us will stick with DSLRs, mirrorless, and the lower-end BM cams. Higher-end owner/operators would probably stick with the Ursa, Ursa Mini, Epic, F3, F35, etc. I guess it could work as a B-Cam for Epic shoots, but you may as well just rent another Epic.

I don't get it. But hey, would love to hear other opinions.

just to add, keep up contact with your second choice. in case the first one falls through. having a backup for each location has saved our butts quite a few times. most memorably, we were supposed to shoot on coastal bluffs in Malibu. the day before our shoot, they caught on fire. my producer was able to shift everything to the back up location in long beach and we didn't miss a beat.

In addition to the items you already mentioned (sound, power distro, etc.), take wide angle photos/videos from each corner of any shooting room.

Scout/plan staging areas for equipment, hair/makeup, craft services, wardrobe, actor privacy/dressing rooms, etc.

Take light meter readings, and bring a compass determine which direction windows/doors/openings face.

Gauge the cooperativeness of the property owner/caretaker.

If you plan on sending light through a window, note the height of the window from ground level outside.

Your CFast media price seems a little wonky.
Cursory search reveals that the approved Lexard 3400x cards cost:
    128GB = USD 341.99
    256GB = USD 677.80
And I mean, those are B&H prices. Guaranteed you can find a better deal.

That said, this stuff (media prices) changes by the second, so I respect your compiling effort.
I await the published Raven specs. Hoping for some real awesome DR and possibly even HDRx capability.

My biggest issue is the quality of the 4K it outputs. The OLFP on the MX made the footage incredibly soft... even 5K downscaled, with alot of sharpening, was still found lacking.
I have not used Dragon or the new OLFPs though, so maybe something has changed. Low light is also a concern.
Generally though, seems like a very exciting camera.
