raf702 got a reaction from Tiago Rosa-Rosso in Time to step up - Panasonic GH5 must go 6K Super 35mm to compete in 2016
Better colors, v-log
Better low light; noise free up to ISO 3200 or 6400
Better DR(14 stops)
10-bit 422 internal
I'd be in line to buy it with these specs.

Nice vid, but that banding and macro blocking at 0:41-0:42 was horrible.

raf702 reacted to Tito Ferradans in Isco and Century for Sale! (+Cinemascope t-shirt)
Hello my fellow anamorphic friends!
It's time for upgrades and because of that some of my gear must go! Lenses will be shipped from Vancouver, BC - Canada.
I only accept PayPal. Taxes and shipping are my responsibility.
If interested, reply here, send me a PM, or an email!
ferradans@gmail.com
One last thing before we get to the lenses: I'm currently selling a Cinemascope t-shirt, unique stuff. Price is $25, including shipping. Click here to get yours and be sure to send me which size you want it (M, L, XL). This is my attempt to fund the Anamorphic Cookbook and all the Anamorphic on a Budget videos so any help is appreciated!
Now to the pretty glass part...
ISCO WIDESCREEN 2000 MC (1.5x stretch, focus through)
Click for photos of the lenses.
The best focus through adapter out there (meaning you use the taking lens’ focus ring). 1.5x stretch, Isco branding and quality, excellent performance and a very compact, solid and lightweight build. I have two of these lenses for sale, each one fitted with a 62-72mm step ring for diopters or single-focus solutions. Glass is in pristine condition, no scratches, spots, dust or fungus (which is almost a miracle considering the age of these lenses). They come with original front and rear caps plus a regular 72mm front cap. SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE REDSTAN CLAMPS.
For more information, check my review!
Price - USD700 each, shipped
ISCO 16:9 VIDEO ATTACHMENT Mk I - or "1.33x Iscorama 54" (1.33x, single focus)
Click for photos of the lens.
This is an extremely hard to find adapter, in plain words, it’s an Iscorama 54 with 1.33x stretch, which turns a 16:9 sensor into an automatic Cinemascope machine. Single focus operation, set your taking lens to infinity and shoot away using the Isco’s focus ring. Focus is smooth and glass is perfectly clear: no blemishes, scratches, fungus, dust or anything. Goes as wide as 40mm on full frame. Comes with both original front and rear caps and a Redstan clamp (72-77mm), which makes rear thread 72mm or 77mm according to your preference. Front thread is 95mm.
For more information, check my review!
Price - USD2600 shipped
CENTURY OPTICS 58mm ANAMORPHIC (1.33x stretch, focus through)
Click for photos of the lens.
The Century Optics is one of the most recommended adapters for people starting out with anamorphics and I sincerely don’t understand why people even complain about it. This one is in perfect shape, no damage whatsoever to the glass (no dust, scratches or fungus) but one or two tiny scuffs to the body (see photos). Stretch is 1.33x and rear thread is 58mm, making it super easy to attach to taking lenses. Goes as wide as 35mm on full frame, which is very good coverage (losing only to the Panasonic LA7200) and focusing is done using the taking lens’ focus ring. Close focus can be challenging but a cheap diopter kit is enough to solve the problem. It comes with original front and rear caps and an adapted 77mm front thread for attaching diopters (not shown in photos).
For more information, check my review!
Price: USD650 shipped

raf702 reacted to Cinegain in BM or Red?
I was actually thinking of the other Sony FS, as the FS7 indeed is a little big. The one in the image showed above with the MOVI was a FS5.
And what would keep you from using your Samyang EF lenses on a Sony FS5 (the smaller Sony) exactly? I don't get that bit. It has the flexible Sony E-mount.

raf702 got a reaction from IronFilm in Meeting with Sony to discuss FS5 cinema camera improvements - optimised firmware available Friday 7am London time
That's good to know, but when RAW output is released I'm hoping I don't have to sell my atomos assassin for an O7Q+ or Shogun.
Maybe they will enable 4K HDMI like the FS7 with it's latest firmware V3, discussed at
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?344155-FS7-Firmware-v3-Format-Tests
According to an FS7 user 4K HDMI yielded the best results versus 4K RAW. Maybe this will also reflect the FS5 when raw is enabled.
Either way I'm hoping the Assassin can be utilized with the FS5, when the firmware updates are released soon.

raf702 reacted to Tito Ferradans in hFOV Calculator.
Time to address the second most common question asked when it comes to anamorphics: "How wide can I go with this anamorphic?".
Your problems are over! Here I introduce my hFOV calculator!
Test it, break it, enjoy. Let me know.
http://www.tferradans.com/blog/?p=8615
You can input all your settings (camera/crop factor, taking lens, focal reducers, anamorphic stretch and sensor aspect ratio) to check if you'll get vignetting, the equivalent focal length of your horizontal field of view and your final aspect ratio. You can also discover which taking lenses will give you a specific horizontal field of view and what crop should you set on your camera to achieve a specific final aspect ratio.

New short film from Macgregor shot on Sony F35 is simply mouthwatering. I dare to say that I haven't seen anything better imagewise in digital camera world, but I have to admit that great grading also helps in this case.

raf702 got a reaction from BrorSvensson in Sony a6300 4k
If GH5 did transition over to a S35 sensor. It would be great if they can do an mft mode where the sensor crops to mft, to utilize mft lenses. Then you'd have use of both systems MFT and S35. Then mft lenses won't become obsolete, cool idea if this happened.

It's 8 bit. That's what bugged me about the A7Sii. If it would've had 10 bit output for SLog3 I would own it right now.

raf702 reacted to VLFV in ISCORAMA 42 MC For Sale..
After long deliberations with myself I decided to let my ISCORAMA 42 MC go, because freelance life can get a bit tough in winter months, especially with the tax payments here in UK.
The lens is in near new condition, probably one of the best you’ll ever come across. Body has almost no signs of use. Focus ring and all the markings have no visible wear.
There are NO scratches, marks, haze or fungus outside or inside the optics. As with every vintage lens there are a few tiny dust specs inside. They won’t affect the image quality in the any way and most people wouldn’t even mention them, but I want to be as honest as possible.
Focusing ring is super smooth, feels like new. Many ISCORAMAs 42 do not have the rubber grip on the alignment ring. This one has and it also has no visible wear.
The lens comes with front and back caps, 82mm skylight filter (which was protecting the front element from scratches) and 82mm to 77mm step-down ring.
I’ve recently added a seamless “compression fit” follow focus gear to this lens (I've added a few updated pics), which will also be including as part of the sale.
I’m looking to get £2500 for this lens. I’m hoping to sell it locally (London, UK) but will considering sending it anywhere. Shipping and paypal/currency conversion fees to be paid by the buyer.
Another one of these was sold for a similar price on ebay just a few days ago and it wasn’t in such conditions, so I believe I’m offering it at quite a good price.
I absolutely love this lens and will be posting my review online soon, but I do not want to do it just yet because I don’t people to think I’m being biased just to sell the lens.
I know that I'm a newbie on this forum, but I've been a long time reader and I'm quite active online in general, so people like Tito and hopefully a few others could certainly vouch for me.
Oh and here are 2 test videos I shot with this lens so far.

raf702 reacted to benymypony in Pack of original LUTs made by myself
Hello everybody,
I just made a free iPhone app to apply some cine looks on photos, inspired by 35mm film prints renders.
The app is named GAMMA 35mm : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gamma-35mm/id1071684697?l=fr&ls=1&mt=8
The filters are inspired by real film prints, like the Kodak Ektar 100, Kodachrome 64 or Lomography CN 100 or Kodak Vision3.
Inspired only, not the exact emulation.
GAMMA is fresh, published only few days ago, and completely free without annoying ad.
In future updates I'll create more filters and improve the existing ones.
Feel free to post photos on Instagram with the hashtag #gamma35mm.
Feedback and suggestions appreciated

raf702 got a reaction from Flynn in Is Red about to release an affordable camera?
/\ agreed, I'd say $4K for the brain, plus another $4K+ in accessories to get it up and running. So yeah I'd say ballpark of $9k or so complete package. Significantly cheaper than their epic, scarlet, etc. But still expensive for many indie filmmakers who don't have a solid budget, thats just my opinion
-
raf702 reacted to Jimmy in Is Red about to release an affordable camera?
Nothing about that looks cheap/budget.
Can't see a shooting package coming in any less than $10k (probably about the same as Ursa Mini, when totalled up).
RED usually start the hype machine when they know something is about to drop from a competitor. Either they over estimated what the FS5 would be, or something is brewing elsewhere (or maybe they know the 4.6K mini/C300 mk II footage is gonna blow everyone away).
