I may buy another one and sell my 'original' model to a cDNG'ist for a healthy profit!

Aren't we simultaneously having two conversations?
The P4K is way too sharp!!!  4K and modern cameras aren't cinematic, the Alexa / older BM cameras are all lower res and have magic. The P4K is way too soft!!!!  BRAW is clearly inferior because it smooths fine detail. Not to mention conversations in other threads that also include:
Who needs 4K - 1080 is fine and you can't tell the difference and ...... blah blah blah 8K!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!  ??

If the GH5 was released today it would be hailed as a 'game changer' (apologies if I've said as much before)

honestly i don't care how they compare. After watching the vid all i can say is, use what you got. you wont be disappointed. I have neither of the previous bm cameras, it's water off a ducks back, for someone who just goes out and buys the camera and wants to make videos.... er movies for those that get offended by the word video ? . I Pre ordered because i was impressed with the p4k trailers that bm produced. if i can produce something half as impressive i'll be happy. if you have either of the other cameras and can produce awesome footage thats fantastic and while i may not worship the ground you walk on, i will clap politely ? . Talk of pixel sizes makes me sleepy. i think you have got some real issues if you have the camera and need to talk pixel sizes and if you dont have a camera but still need to talk pixel sizes then your nitpicking. Like it or not CinemaDNG is a dead horse with bm and i'm guessing theres a few legal reasons why. Now you can keep on flogging that dead horse but it gets pointless pretty quickly and the rest of us will look at you oddly as well, unless you were an early adoptee and have a 6.1 version.  show some wisdom and move on.

Fallacious arguments and bias party !

Someone here appropriated too much Schopenhauer's  "Art of being right"...

Mixing up facts and opinions, putting forward the "free thinking" and "independent thought" argument, bringing on the "fear" and political correctness that one bravely overcomes to tell the truth, and wish more "sheeps" could access this level of "awareness"...

Congrats. Flat earthers and trendy conspiracy theorists use exactly the same mechanism...

Braw is brilliant. But you can mangle it in post like any codec if you make bad decisions.
It was obvious from the first time I tried it that the extended video LUT was useless with too much contrast and poor highlight handling.
    So I never used it.
I graded a piece last week using nothing but primaries. Exposing well in Braw gives you amazing latitude and control in Resolve.

There's not such a big difference between the  400Mbps GH5 codec and the P4k RAW - depends how much you want to bend it in post or how much you need to recover mistakes in capture. Yes the RAW is better in a lot of respects but the 400mbps is also very good

    That's why the P4k can't replace my GH5 - but maybe a future GH6 will replace the P4k......

This is why I disagree when people try to compare the GH5 to the P4K - they are different types of cameras.  Funnily enough, the GH5 is a video camera, and the P4K is just what the name says - a cinema camera

First live event today. Some interviews and then some B-roll during a graduation ceremony.  The IBIS is really a game changer, more than maybe any other feature/camera support system I've ever used. The IS-Lock is incredibly handy.

That's old news. They've been making a rebound. Who knows what the future holds, but the Hero7 Black is awesome and considering history, a new cam could be unveiled in a few months.

and I'm saying ( from the experience of actually owning a P4k) that there is no more DR in RAW than ProRes.

Sounds unnecessarily complicated. Just custom WB before each shot at your shooting exposure using a grey card or expo disk.  ND, vario nd and lenses all can have different colour casts so this will level the playing field but Vario ND filters because they are polarising will have a much greater influence on the look of the image esp skin texture than any colour cast.

    Throwing stones is good
I can't comment on the P4K, but I'm in m43 land with my GH5 and I think your summary is about right.  FF lenses adapt really well for the longer focal lengths but getting fast/wide/both lenses is the challenge.
In case you're not familiar with the options:
Voigtlander make an excellent series of f0.95 lenses
These come in 10, 17.5, 25, and 42.5mm lengths, which are the equivalents of FF 20mm/1.9, 35mm/1.9, 50mm/1.9, and 85mm/1.9.  They're gorgeous to use, and the aperture ring can be adjusted to de-click.  I only have experience with the 17.5mm one, which is soft at 0.95 but is almost fully crisp at f2.8 (FF f5.6 equivalent) and for some reason has a strange colour shift at 0.95 that cleans up by 1.4 I use the SLR Magic 8mm F4 (equivalent to a 16mm F8) that is optically good but not great, but ergonomically is a pig because it's designed for drones not a human user.  There is a Laowa 7.5mm f2 which is more expensive, but seems to be good optically and is designed for human use, and it popular with vloggers due to the 15mm equivalent FOV. The Sigma 18-35 f1.8 on Metabones adapter is popular and optically and ergonomically nice too, although it's heavier than the M43 lenses. In a sense, I think your criticisms aren't so much that the P4K image isn't great, but rather that the competition is actually really good.. I think we're spending more and more time being overly critical and nit-picky, or making genuine and practically relevant criticisms about cameras that are outputting a level of quality but are a fraction of what equivalent cameras used to cost

I get 2.5 hours on an NPF on an external sled which costs way less and is a lot smaller - that's a big unit for not much capacity.

The GH5 is an all round better camera than the A7s but for low light the A7s was ( and is ) in a different league and that’s why it can deliver the results in difficult circumstances. Oh and pair it with an ext recorder and you still have a competitive image with all the benefits off a full frame. Sometimes wish I’d kept mine....

I get 40 mins with 10 year old LP-E6 batteries.  New LP-E6n on the latest firmware will run an hour by all accounts. Even 40 mins isn't that bad if you have a stash of batteries.

A canon LP-E6n lasts an hour - hardly crap. External battery options are cheap and easy to implement. What cameras don't you need to rig for longer and more complex shoots.

    Not really.
There are also power solutions out there beyond extra units from your shooting vest or pocket for extending your shot if so. And no tilt screen is not much of a problem (have you ever used one for a long time BTW?) in any way other than as vlogging or external monitoring. If this is effectively necessary as long as rig it, really, not strictly mandatory at all, mere FUD of non-users mantra or from a tiny minority : ) Nothing against tilt screens I've always become used as Panasonic shooter but to take it as a deal breaker is a nonsense and pure BS to this user here : -)

As someone who owns the BMPCC and the P4k I can tell you the highlight roll-off is not terrible on the P4k nor is the DR worse than the BMPCC nor are skintones unnecessarily contrasty - but what do I know as I'm not looking at it via youtube on a cellphone?
CFast is expensive for data so why not just get a 1TB T5 ? I've got a few external battery solutions but the best by far (and the cheapest)is a cheap NPF sled with a dummy battery from amazon/ebay. I  shortened the power lead to tidy it up and mounted the sled to the top of a smallrig 1/2 cage. With a generic F970 battery I get 2.5 hours recording time when writing to the external T5.
