Zach Ashcraft got a reaction from Nathan Gabriel in Sony a6300 4k
I'll say this. Its getting harder and harder for us to come up with excuses for not making films

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Andrew Reid in EOS 80D - HDR Video?
Well the Dual Pixel AF isn't just useful for youtube, it's a great tech.
Problem is the entire rest of the camera.
Nikon will give you better for $500!

Zach Ashcraft got a reaction from Phil A in Pentax K-1 - 36 MP Full Frame DSLR
Ricoh Imaging's president is doing a Q&A at 6PM EST responding to Facebook comments! I'll be asking quite a few about the conservative video features and future plans for the platform

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Andrew Reid in Canon EF Servo Power Adapter Announced
Yeah the specs are once again very disappointing for video.
But we'll see how it does off paper when it comes out.
The power zoom on the new 18-135mm is interesting, if a little bulky and likely expensive for something which Sony and Panasonic lenses have had built in for quite a while now at no extra cost.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to JurijTurnsek in Canon EF Servo Power Adapter Announced
Dual Pixel AF already does amazing video AF, so that was never the problem. Just the smooth zooming part needed to be addressed. To bad about the lackluster Canon 80D video specs.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to JazzBox in stacking footage?
In my humble opinion doing that it is not the best way to get a deeper sound: most of the time you have phase cancellations that give you less bass frequencies when you listen it in mono.
If adding another track - in order to have a real "double" - it is impossible, I would prefer to reamp it or to eq in some ways.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to fuzzynormal in Compact hybrid system for travel documentary type fun
I too use the M43 system. Sometimes with a speed booster. Last thing I did travel-wise was Indonesia; urban, coastline, and jungle. Had a heat wave and also lots of days of rain. Man, the humidity. Yikes. The LUMIX and Oly cams I had on that shoot did fine and it all fit into a very modest camera satchel.
During the trip I shot a dark Church interior as well as a few bat caves. A handful of work at night too. With a f1.2 prime lens and a speed booster one can get decent exposure at stay below 3200iso. Need that low-light ability.
Depending on your environment situations, I'd also suggest putting durability and weather sealing up on the priority list.
And while it would be great to travel with robust pro gear with RAW capabilities, the work I do in the field just can't support that kind of commitment, so consumer 8-bit is the compromise. I've not felt terribly limited, but things do depend on what you're aiming for regarding the end result.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Andrew Reid in Panasonics new Cinema Camera? - Announcement today
Looks nice. Squarely aimed at the RED and Arri crowd.
I still think they would be better doing a Super 35mm AF100 replacement with that VariCam S35 sensor.
Just because the AF100 failed on the market doesn't mean to say Panasonic can't get it right the next time out.
Instead it is almost as if they haven't bothered.

Thanks man, I agree I did. I've been sitting on the idea for awhile too. Sort of my new years resolution/hustle for 2016. Need to get to creating content as I'm already behind!

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Snowfun in Compact hybrid system for travel documentary type fun
Do you enjoy the process as much as the product? I have an A7s and it's superb for aurora shooting. But it's "horrid" to use (with Shogun and v-loks). The BMPCC on the other hand is something I rather enjoy using. It's simple and elegant and gives you something you can play with (ie grade etc.) back home. And you will be carrying it with you at all times. To me, a lot of the enjoyment is the process - the product isn't the sole or even primary goal.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Policar in "ArtoftheImage" = MORON
Camera and tech youtube channels make huge profits off amazon affiliate links. Controversial (or wrong) opinions generate views on youtube as videos are more likely to be shared (as in here) and there's profit in that. But then there's even bigger profit from affiliate links.
He's not interested in cameras, he's interested in money. Good information is rarely controversial or simple enough enough to be worth sharing. The more incendiary the criticism, and the less accurate, the more money.
I thought you had to at least get the money to rent cameras to start these channels, though. Maybe I should give this a try.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Andrew Reid in Shooting with a 4K pocket camera - the exceptional Panasonic LX100
A lot of parrots in this thread, repeating things it seems. The moire comes from your non-4K display scaling the footage. It isn't from the camera.

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Hene1 in A few LX100 Questions
Biggest drawback is very digital looking image with thin colors. It's hard to get natural image out of it. Also zooming feels weak, becouse its via wire and the motor isn't very powerful.
