I would rather get the Xiaomi 4K+ for a portion of the money, and save the rest for other equipment. Yes, the 6 is the best GoPro ever, but other can make 95% of that, or better in some areas, for a percentage of the total cost. DJI can make one tomorrow, and beat GoPro easily.
Some people believe that a mobile phone is good enough for most photo/video catching, some say they are good to shot a film (some in this forum!), I disagree of course, but if people consider a phone is comparable with a normal camera with a huge sensor, you get the point where the action cams stand right now. Just get a Smooth Q stabilizer for your phone, and pass it around people in lock mode, a lot cheaper, and arguably, similar quality.
The magic word is 1", when everything becomes 1", then they would be comparable to a real camera and I will care more about them.
People doing action activities are at its top ever, and world wide, a lot more than the 80's, 90's and the 00's were the hip thing to do was to do drugs and be wasted! I am joking, but action lifestyle and a healthy way of life became a thing the last decade, and right now, even McDonald's in UK offering "less that 400 calories" options in their menu, and organic foods are a thing (a very expensive one), while there are new extreme activities been invented, almost every month. In some countries people are given money to buy bikes to go to their jobs, and every summer there is a new thing I see people do on the beach that it doesn't even have a name!
My LG has a 14mm ultra wide lens, and a 29mm one, OIS and EIS, 1.8f, 4K recording and 1080/120 and full M, by the way. Oh, and it has passed 18 military standards, so it is 810G military standard accredited — including temperature and environmental extremes, pressure, vibration, and shock, as well as salt, sand, dust, and water immersion. While F mount will be convenient for all the people that have Nikon lenses, and for Nikon to make sure there is a large selection of lenses already for their new camera, I find it unlikely for two reasons:
    1. It unnecessarily increases the size of the camera. Both due to dead space in the camera and because it cannot reduce the size of the wideangle lenses.
    2. Camera companies make a lot of money from lenses, so I doubt they will miss on a huge opportunity to sell a ton with a new mount.
More fun than a Canon 4000D

If this is true, then it’s quite possible the entry level models may have this new X mount and the pro FF will retain the traditional F mount?
I was waiting for my GF yesterday and had a minute or two to look at the camera section at Target... it was bleak, but they did have a Nikon D3400 on display. I was surprised to see it has the Flat Profile. And the kit lens’ VR was rock steady, with a great little zoom ring... seemed sharp and clean too. At $300, not a bad little pocket camera. The damn thing was TINY too. So if their entry level mirrorless cameras can offer the Flat Profile, zebras, and focus peaking on an aps-c sensor... even at 1080p... they’ll have a little winner in my books. Hell, I may go out and buy a D3400 for some inconspicuous shooting... it looks like a lot of fun.

Thom Hogan has been saying two entry level mirrorless APS-C bodies in the US $500-$1000  bracket to be announced in the next few months followed by a full frame around US $2,000 four or five months later.D5600 is already due for update perhaps it is
the last of the D5000 series ??

Fuji XT2 is pretty inconspicuous. Especially with F2 WR primes. I've shot with it in parts of India & Morocco where a bigger or more digital looking camera might have got me in trouble. A lot people thought it was an old film camera. XPRo2 would probably be even better in that regard. 5D3 is definitely not the most discrete camera and with lack of EVF/tiltscreen it yells i'm shooting video. I found D750 way more discrete for street shooting. If you are going to use a DSLR mask logos etc with black tape. Use pancake/short lenses to make it look a little more point & shoot. How you dress & act in public is also key for this type of shooting imo. Gotta blend in / look amateur

The vast majority of Nikon lenses are non-E. So there is little point in making an adaptor just for the E version. I said that if they release a new mount, an adaptor would be expensive. If they do not release an adaptor then they are going to loose a lot of Nikon customers that would have to sell all their lenses making a potential switch to either Canon or Sony far easier.

I believe they developed this system for aperture control back in the 60s
On the positive side, it allowed very easy & smooth control of the aperture with cheap adapters...

Funny how cineform raw existited since 2005 and is open source and platform independent but companies drag their feet. Whereas when Apple does something that is restricted toac ecosystem they implement it before it even gets released. I do belong to the Mac ecosystem and while the proresraw might offer faster performance I hate the closed system strings that apple attaches.

Are those special stunt bricks, rubber ones? Or just normal bricks?

Is about three years and a bit I've had it.

But once it was only a year or two long then it pretty much stopped growing any more.

Did anyone notice the seat created out of apple boxes that DoP was leaning/sitting on? I found that amusing.

Oh, and the hat I was wearing I got given the day beforehand for FREE! :-D

Apparently we are only 15 years away from commercially viable nuclear fusion reactors. Funny, but when I went on a tour of the Joint European Torus 35 years ago they said we were about 15-20 years ago from commercially viable nuclear fusion reactors then too.

Some PAs make that little where I live, too. I've seen $150/day jobs. That doesn't seem so bad just getting started for a PA, though on reality tv PAs get closer to $400/day. I think people take low pay jobs for experience and networking, not the money.
That said, I don't get how anyone lives off $150/day without support from family. Living wage is about $100k-$150k/year here, not that I'm necessarily pulling that in myself.

Considering the effort is meant to stifle innovation in their competitors, they don't seem to be doing a good job of that.

I'm not even using a camera, using a microphone, and I'd like this too please!
Exactly! ARRI ALEXA is designed with a crew in mind, while the AMIRA is configured differently in a number of smaller and bigger ways so that going solo (or with a very small crew) is at least an *option*.

If you're doing newsshooter doco style shooting (I.e. Zero or minimal lights, and mostly just locked off tripod shots) then sure AMIRA / F55 / etc are just perfectly fine to use solo, and many many people do so.

But they're *not* one person crews, they're part of a larger production! Involving many many people.

Not sure how this disagrees with my point that it is a bit of a stretch to make an AMIRA be a one man solo shooter.

I'm in the third week of a feature film being shot with an AMIRA,  I'd say it is a massive massive stretch to think of the AMIRA as a one man crew kind of camera (though it is closer to that than any other ARRI digital camera). We have a three person camera crew for this. (& three person lighting crew, continuity person, AD, wardrobe, MIA & assistant, etc etc)

The FS7 however is very much on the small side of "big cameras", and can easily be operated solo. However, I've also worked on shoots with a FS7 which had a five person camera department.
