I think we all do that sometimes. It depends on interest. Some find researching cameras boring. Therefor they look at a video they like and buy the same. Im pretty sure people have based camera purchases based on what you own (of me to).
I do the same with other stuff. I dont know jack about sports gear. I run, ski, skate and swim. But I hate researching the gear. So I go to some friends who compete all the way up in the Olympics and just ask them. What they say, I buy.
More time for researching cameras, which I enjoy

Someone wanted to see what JPEG 15 fps image burst was compared to the HEVC, and to say the least the difference is massive not just in the dynamic range but the pure colour information presence in the images, now I have chosen to use 1080p to show the difference as much as possible because its not as noticeable in 2160p, the only difference at such high resolution is the dynamic range, now its clear that JPEG will always be superior to HEVC in 1080p mode and perhaps even in high resolution as well simply because they contain more information per frame. The JPEG have superior resolution as well compared to HEVC even in 1080p, both JPEG and HEVC have the same settings applied to them including sharpness.
Both HEVC and JPEG where colour graded in After Effects using the GammaDR2LOG -> VisionLog - LOG Generic_FujiColor 200_CIN -> Cineon to Film Contrast 01 -> Lumetri Adjustments
In camera settings used for both HEVC and JPEGs are: 1/100 - F/4 - ISO100
JPEG are super fine and resolution: 2048x1152 (Downsampled to 1080p in After Effects)
HEVC are Pro quality and resolution: 1920x1080

    GammaDR settings:
    Red X1.00 - Green X0.95 - Blue X1.00
    Sharpness -10
    Contrast -10
    Luminance 16-235
    Master Pedestal not touched
    Picture Style Normal settings:
    Red X1.00 - Green X0.95 - Blue X1.00
    Sharpness -7
    Contrast -10

    HEVC LEFT - JPEG RIGHT
    GRADED TOP - UNGRADED BOTTOM

The latest 4K camera offering from Samsung has a new hybrid focusing system, in-body stabilization, a 5.1" AMOLED Quad HD display, is waterproof, has built-in GPS and wifi, and can stream live video to the internet. Takes calls.
This 4K video was shot handheld in Brighton, now a traditional setting for testing out new cameras. But this was shot in daylight, and graded in Sony Vegas Pro to emulate the look of video:
The original UHD video is downloadable.

That's a very good performance for a mobile phone. I like the popping colors. Try Cinema4K app with 200Mbps codec and flat profile.
The camera wobbing is very annoying, does Galaxy S7 use it's lens stabilisation when recording 4K or only at 1080p?

Andrew, bitrate has been hacked at 2.5K by Vasile. Need him to get back to tell us the method to do so. What I'm curious about is how is the rolling shutter in that mode? 2.5K + Samsung Color + great rolling shutter performance is a dream camera.

Thought it'd be fun to have an official topic for footage from the new Samsung hacks so it doesn't clutter up the hackers' topics and get lost in the shuffle.

Anyone using the higher bitrate on the NX1 or the new 2.5K mode on the NX500? Veeeeeeeeery interested to see some samples from each.

I'm using an up-to-date Premiere Pro and nowadays it's no problem at all to work with hevc. the only thing premiere has difficulties with is reading the color range 0-255 from the NX1.
if you got performance problems you probably just need hevc hardware decoding (intel skylake or nvidia 960 or 970 i think)

I contacted Sigma directly about this after very little valuable data came out at WPPI. Their response is that yes, indeed, video AF with the MC-11 and 18–35 1.8 and/or 50–100 1.8 will function just as any other of the newer Sony lenses do on the a6300. This news, if it turns out to be true, will make my year. I will make sure I have a Sony at NAB next month and test this personally. I sold my A7R2, but not without major hesitation. I updated my review on the a6300 here when I did a shoot without using the camera's internal compression and the camera still overheated. Recorded to an Atomos Assassin, climate controlled indoor environment the whole time and the camera temperature warning came on after about 90 minutes of off and on use. That's sad. I updated my review here to warn people about more than the jello. My new favorite name for the camera is "jello in a toaster". I'm kind of hoping it becomes a thing and people stop referring to it as the a6300 and use my pseudonym instead.

If you needed a body now, I would get an NX1.  It's more of a complete package with longer battery life, good ergonomics, no overheating, great image, etc.  As of today's date, the NX1 gives you a better shooting experience.  Don't worry about an eco-system or an investment.  Cameras are meant to be used, not collected.  Sony's future system upgrade path won't fix the current flaws of the A6300 (i.e. no touchscreen, poor handling, rolling shutter, etc).
You can use an NX1 until it dies after the warranty is over, and then maybe look at a A6300 successor.  Sony make some really questionable design decisions, and the A6300's deal breakers are too hard to ignore.

Rebel? Maybe if it were mirrorless and any good, but nah, I'm talking about the crossbreed, so much more like a GH4 than a 600D. The only thing I'd want from a Canon is the color science and dual pixel AF, the rest is pretty worthless to me. Besides... you really think ML will bother with newer cams?
I love how the E-M1 holds in the hand and the dials operation, it has IBIS and also fine color and organic rendering. NX1, nice color as well, super duper chip infrastructure and processing, no overheating, only a glimps of what the hardware is actually is capable of made its way into the firmware possibilities. APS-C, but not really a huge benefit on pixel level concerning noise/sensitivity. Yet APS-C would be pretty cool, we've discussed a possible premium GH-camera with APS-C sensor much like the JVC GY-LS300. GH4 has that vari-angle touchscreen, ISO/WB/+/- dials on top I find pretty genius. Features that include an anamorphic mode for example. The BMPCC doesn't have much going on for itself, except that it is small and the footage is outragingly awesome. Imagine an actually practical camera crossbreed with the whole shebang just mentioned and writing stuff away as DNG RAW or ProRes. Wowowiwa.
Yeah, I was kinda thinking A6300... but now... eh... maybe not. Then I was like: BMMCC... but then again... nah. So, now I'm not sure... maybe a 5DmkIII ML RAW after all! (Nah, won't happen either )

    Let's take it to Kickstarter!
Joking aside (or are we?!), I don't mind the M43 crop and mount too much, it's quite workable. I just wish it had a bit more performance in it. All comes down to pixelsize, bitdata and processing/codec. Imagine a crossbreed between the NX1, GH4, E-M1 and BMPCC. But yeah... not likely to happen unfortunately. Unless indeed someone takes it up to themselves to change the game, but that's just not realistic I'm afraid.

I see the NX1 and NX500 have an MJPEG codec, but it's only used for the 640x480 recording mode.
But the codec is there, right? Maybe we could persuade it to record at a higher resolution and bitrate in 4:2:2 like the Canon 1D C. (Ok, wild leap there, but any improvement would be an interesting discovery).
Also the silent shutter, in this mode it does raw from a rolling shutter scan of the sensor, just like a video mode... the raw data must be lurking in the buffer somewhere whilst it runs in video mode... now what we need is a genius to dive in a grab it

Chant said he might look into increasing resolution and maybe bitrate for the MJPEG, honestly I think the focus should be more on the MJPEG rather than the HEVC which is just painful to work with already and any higher bitrate will make it even more painful to work with than it already is, so instead of having a thorn in our bums, MJPEG would be the better pick here for easy editing.

I really think the D750 is the best option unless you feel the need for RAW. Great image, 60p, very little RS, and small files that grade very well. Also Nikon glass can be adopted to anything, so if you get another camera in the future you won't have to sell your glass. The BMMCC needs an external moniter and can't be used for stills at all, which seems to strike your interest.

The two that spring to mind are the Panasonic G7 and Samsung NX1. Good preamps, decent autofocus (the NX1 excels here), articulating screens, focus peaking, relatively lightweight, and excellent image quality. You might also look at the NX500, which has a big crop in 4K but all the other advantages of the NX1 and is smaller/cheaper.

Hey guys, just joined here. The main reason being that there are many users here who seem to  see the magic in the 5DII and III when it comes to skin tones and people. I find lots Sony fans just love the specs and detail. Anyway, I did love the a6300 image and wanted to test it out. All handheld and bad editing. But it's just a test. I do like the ITU709 color mode because it doesn't have that drab look that I've seen in so many other videos. I still enjoy the skin tones of my 6D more!

    Hello everybody,
I just made a free iPhone app to apply some cine looks on photos, inspired by 35mm film prints renders.
The app is named GAMMA 35mm : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gamma-35mm/id1071684697?l=fr&ls=1&mt=8
The filters are inspired by real film prints, like the Kodak Ektar 100, Kodachrome 64 or Lomography CN 100 or Kodak Vision3.
Inspired only, not the exact emulation.
GAMMA is fresh, published only few days ago, and completely free without annoying ad.
In future updates I'll create more filters and improve the existing ones.
Feel free to post photos on Instagram with the hashtag #gamma35mm.
    Feedback and suggestions appreciated

Actually, my first thought was "it could use some diffusion." It's a little crunchy-sharp for my taste.

Also, those skintones are WACK, man. Crazy flatness and oversaturation in the yellows. Some skin colors fare better than others, but none hold a candle to Panasonic/Blackmagic.
