Dedicated server will be more expensive when you run into problems you cannot solve. 
I monitor and fix servers for corporations and you get these problems: hardware failures or O/S problems or you cannot access your server remotely to fix it (requires a visit to a DC if you want to do it cheaply, rate for remote hands fix is over 100gbp/hr and you have to buy and ship the part to the DC if it is a hardware problem. Check the cost of the parts for the dedicated server you are buying.
O/S troubleshooting if something stops working, well, if you can fix it yourself then that is fine, some problems are easy to fix but if you cannot fix it then you have to pay someone or learn how to fix it. If you do not mind having your server down for long periods of time and spending days/weeks learning how to fix an issue then fine.
I am not even mentioning standard things like patching stuff that messes things up occasionally and application troubleshooting. 
If it is just for sharing videos for micro public/friends it might work but forget the exposure you get by using big established sites. 
With cloud storage you just do not care about those things.
Just to give you a picture. There is a DC team of several people fixing issues and separate teams handling issues that can be fixed remotely in the background all the time 24/7/365.
General overview:
dedicated server = most control = most problems.
VM = A lot of control and at least you do not have to worry about the Layer 1 (hardware). 
Cloud = least control.
Ideally to compete with Vimeo you build your own network with dedicated servers, your own VMs in your own cloud and on top of it you build a web application to access it from the Internet by people 

A lot of the reason the bokeh look feels overdone is that it's cheaper to buy a fast lens and open it up on a night scene than light up a huge area and stop down. So with the flood of content from cheaper cameras and less-experienced filmmakers, we tend to see that look a lot.
Aesthetically speaking, though, the only thing that matters is how the story works, how a particular shot makes the audience feel in the telling of the story. 
The dreamy quality of bokeh can't be denied. Even Wes Anderson uses it from time to time:


 The other is a grab from my film where a tough-talking street dude is also surprisingly witty. The bokeh enhances the dreamy-turns-nightmarish quality of the scene as the lead character is has fallen asleep on the subway and wakes up in an unfamiliar neighborhood. But for other night scenes we pushed the ISO and stopped down to mitigate the effect.
 
The key is to have total control of the image as a storytelling tool. Bokeh is a part of image-making, so use it as it suits the content.

The video was shot with a single GH5 (with a little A6500 in there) in 10 hours, edited, graded and effects done in 4 days (by me). 
The new album (last I heard) was at No.7 in the official UK chart. 
I'm a big fan of what Panasonic has done with this camera. 
That said, the shining star of this video is the band. 
 

Agreed, the 3x crop mode is still very unique advantage - especially for macro video. The ability to also shoot higher resolution (even at reduced frame rate) in raw is quite amazing.
 

It is a little bit confusing, but what ML does is not equivalent of 12 bit vs 14 bit raw photos. Shades are mapped out differently in "true" 12 bit vs 14 bit raw photos. ML just truncates bottom bits and does not change values in higher stops, AFAIK. 
Anyway, a theory is just a theory. Check in real life. If you see the difference in grading, that is great, but it would be nice to see those clips/dngs too. 

It is a very good visualisation of how much data difference in total there is, but if I understand it correctly, ML is just cutting out the darkest blacks which contain mostly noise and does not re-distribute shades in higher stops of light. 
If you can use noise bits to your advantage, of course, use 14 bits.

Well not to sound snide it pretty much depends how big of a computer monitor you have. I use a 30" 2k HP IPS screen. That is close to a 32" TV that a lot of people still watch TV with. But yes if you are 12' away from it even a 42" it would be less sharp than right up in front of it. My son uses a 42' Plasma TV as his "gamer" monitor. He is less than 6 feet from it, so just about anything looks good that close LoL.
ML 1080p is sharper than normal Canon 1080p output. That would not be hard to do. Canon has never been known for razor sharp 1080p. But i doubt any 1080p is ever going to look as sharp as 4k no matter how good it is. I mean we are talking 4x the resolution which on paper should be twice as sharp. But some Blackmagic and Canon Raw 1080p stuff I have seen is pretty damn good.
I know a lot of people say from that far away you can't tell the distance but I was in Best Buy to buy some GoPro accessories a few days ago and they had a Samsung 55" 4k OLED HDR TV there that was breath taking 50 foot away. I walked all the way over to look at it and it stood out like a sore thumb next to the rest of the 4k TV's around it. So that is 4k next to 4k and it was a Big difference. 1080p would have, well not been so hot I would guess.

i would say that in general 1080p ML raw is not for highly detailed shooting – the 5d3 is resolving way less detail than the current competition.
a highly resolved 4k image looks worlds clearer than a 1080p one on my 1080 plasma; on a 4k screen the difference will be even more significant and the screen will be far less forgiving overall, so be prepared for that

also remember that 1080p RAW is less than 1080p video in resolution... debayering eats resolution.
But ML RAW's forté lies elsewhere, as we know
