1. Nice price drop the other day on the 5d3 on amazon. You can get it for only $2,999 now
2. IS would be good if you arent using a tripod. I cant comment on those lenses since I haven't used them, maybe someone else would chime in.
3. At that price range I would just suggest sticking with prime lenses. Good zooms are very pricey
4. This looks better than anything else i've seen out if it. Seems like a good choice if you don't mind using sonys A-glass
5. I can't comment on if its sharper since I haven't used it, but there is aliasing all over the MK2 footage. I think they are about the same in relative terms of sharpness from what I've heard many others say
6. The 5d3 does not suffer from aliasing or moire. It is criticized for being soft, though it can be sharpened fairly well in post with ease.
7.   A joke that pays my bills
8. They went for sale on black friday with a kit lens for $499 new! Wish I had bought one then... I assume you can probably get close to that
9.
Can anyone comment on the iPad monitoring option that was mentioned in sept? Havent been able to find an answer , if its possible.
I believe its addressed in another thread. Maybe the stained glass one? they demonstrate it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQFV1Ve8mQI
10. Holy poop those are expensive. Thanks for the answer!
11.
Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you think filmmaking is all about sharpness and image quality. One more person I don't need to pay very much attention to.
Andrew, he was just kidding (I think). The first 8 seconds of the video is the very lo-fi looking shot in the mirror, and I believe thats what he was playing at
12.
Olympus 60mm Macro seems like the natural choice, great portraits and closeups for only $499. Super sharp and sealed as well, so it should run nicely with the GH3 even if the weather doesn't cooperate. http://robinwong.blo...-review_23.html http://robinwong.blo...cro-review.html
Seems to be a trade off between weather sealing and OIS for me. I'd like both! The images from the 60mm really are beautiful.
13.
I couldn't past the first 8 seconds of the video. That is horrible image quality! Needs to be hacked... ;)
Bravo - Brilliant first post
14. Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I dont own the Canon macro. I've only rented it but fell in love with it. I suppose I was hoping that the 45 would be somewhat similar. I'm not too concerned about super macro shots really. I am a fan of using longer lenses for portraits. Definitely have no need for AF From what I've seen from the newer lenses I am not sure I like the super clinical look, though I do like the weather sealing and stabilization. Anyway, thanks for your advice! I'll continue browsing until i purchase the GH3 :)
15.
There's moire in the damn brownies.
Maybe one of the funniest things I have ever read
16. It was between this or the GH3 for me and this video is making the decision pretty easy I do not think the lack of a headphone jack is really such a huge deal since in camera audio on most cameras is pretty pitiful anyway. But the moire looks terrible!
17. Hello all! I am a musician turned videographer, and it looks like I've found a buyer for a trumpet of mine. This leaves me with about 2K to spend on goodies! I am wanting to make the switch from canon to the GH3. I have used the 100mmL Macro on the canon and it is absolutely my favorite lens. I not only use it for macro but for interviews and close up shots of marching bands on a football field. I was searching for similar options on the MFT platform and came across the Panasonic 45mm 2.8 with OIS. Anyone have experience with this lens? How does the OIS handle? Any other telephoto with OIS suggestions for MFT? The 35-100 would be nice but its a bit pricey!
18. Where exactly did you find your GH3? I would like to buy one :)
19. Can anyone point me towards an SD card that would be useable for the GH3's high bit rate? The fastest I can seem to find listed is only 45 mb's per second.
20.
Tell me again why Panasonic should make a 35mm FF camera?
Marketing :) If panasonic ever did make a FF camera I have to wonder what kind of mount it would have.
21. This would be great except for the fact that you can almost buy a used t2i for that price nowadays! Seems a bit pricey but it is welcome technology....not sure if i'll buy this or just pick up a GH3 instead..
22. Thanks for this! Can you comment on what ISO's you used in the night shots? Seems to be a good low light performer so long as you have a capable lens
23.
I'll admit though it's not a huge leap when you consider the price difference. However features like the headphone jack, OLED screen (which looks gorgeous, much easier to focus from), wi-fi functions and 1080 50fps shooting help justify the upgrade for me.
Weather sealing is a huge plus for me as well! Able to comment on low light/high iso performance yet? Would love to see a comparison to the GH2 and know if its improved
24. That is a genius idea. Would be so cool if this is possible
