    GH3 short film

Man...awesome job. The more I see GH3 footage, the more I am tempted to sell my 5d3 and t2i and buy a Gh3 and Gh2 rig   Looks great at 1600 ISO
  2. This would be a blast for sports/action type videos, I think
  3. Indeed, however it will result in literally thousands of more views on youtube, as sad as that may be.   Some great VFX work. I am definitely impressed by this - I really hope gopro implements image stabilization soon.
  4. Can you share some videos/footage with us? I have fun creating 30 second shorts with my iphone 4 every now and then. Allows me to focus less on the technical things and more on the pacing and story

    Canon T5i and SL1

http://fstoppers.com/canon-upgrades-popular-rebel-series-with-the-t5i     What is there to say...really.
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmfccHmsJJg     Looking good. The turret looks sweet.
  7. Breaking  Bad is my absolute favorite show of all time. I watched the first 3 seasons on my iMac and ipad. When 4 came around, I had an apple TV hooked up to a nice large sony HDTV. I almost cried the image was so beautiful. Now I'm rewatching the first 3 seasons on the apple TV because the cinematography, story, and actors are just so darn good. I can't wait to see what these writers come up with after this show

    Leica M Video

Well the story was very interesting! very unique personality.    the tape hiss cutting in and out drove me nuts, it was hard to focus on the image. I am not blown away by it it though. I suppose thats a good thing, it will keep me from wanting to spend 6K!
  9. Hang on, let me grab some popcorn.   Really though, just agree to disagree and lets all be friends
  10. Okay, this has been a fun learning experience. Not nearly as hard as I thought.    Went on spring break last week with some B&W and color film, all 400. I also used a really old strip of film that my uncle had left in his camera bag. That was maybe a mistake, haha. Lots of artifacts and scratches on the film, but still a cool learning experience!    Heres my favorite of the week. I was really surprised at how much room I have to play with in post with the jpegs from a CD.
  11. I disagree with the above post suggesting a a shotgun mic with the canons onboard preamp. I used that solution for over a year and the hissing audio is often times unusable. I strongly encourage you to buy a portable recorder and sync the sound in picture in post. It really should take no longer than 5 minutes
  12. You could buy a zoom H1 for about $100 bucks. That alone will get you get good sound if you place it right. Pay another $20 for a cheap lavalier mic and that will give you very clear dialogue. That leaves you enough money to buy a lens if you don't mind paying used. Thats probably what I would do   I like the story. Simple, not cheesy or over complicated
  13. Your teaching is welcome info! It was c41 400 speed, I believe. Brand, I can't remember. I'm currently shooting a roll of Kodak and I'll be trying a black and white roll next.    I'll mess around with that and see what I come up with!
  14. Just got my first set of prints back. I went to CVS and just got some 4X6's. The color was pretty blah but I assume thats because I went to CVS :) I really just wanted to get my feet wet. I have to say the process of shooting, not knowing what you're getting, and waiting to see the prints on the way home was quite fun. I cheated with the exposure this time around and just figured it out on my 5D in live view.    It'll turn into a nice hobby i'm sure but I can't see myself dedicating too much time to it. I might try to fill a roll at each wedding I shoot and try to give it to the bride/groom at the end of the reception. I think that'd be a fun souvenir.
  15. Yeah, this is a bit of a laughable effort. Hope a real film maker gets their hands on it soon.
  16. Another question -    I'm not about to go build a darkroom but would like to edit and get some large prints done. Are there places I can go to use a high end scanner? I have lightroom and would like to play around with film scans again just out of curiosity.    I am heading out to the country on spring break this week so this should be a fun time to try it out. Thanks everyone for the answers so far! I downloaded the manual and watched a video on the camera and it seems to all make sense :)
  17. No worries! I'm not expecting it to be life-changing but I know that it is popular and just wanted to learn a bit more about why :) I am just interested in the process   Thankfully I already had a couple adapters on hand! I received a 50 1.2 and wow is it stunning!
  18. Hey folks! I just celebrated my birthday this week (the ripe age of 24) and I received one of the coolest gifts of my life. My uncle gave me his old Nikon F3 with a collection of manual nikon and tamron lenses.    I know not the first thing about film. I got into photography and video 2 years ago with a t2i and have been using the 5D since december.    I am wondering, can someone here point me in the right direction for how to get started with film? What are the  benefits, how do I use this thing, where the heck do I even buy film? I'd be super appreciative! This is of course for photography only

    Nikon Coolpix A

Agreed. I own the RX100 and have yet to regret the decision based on any other camera releases. It does appear that the high quality compact point and shoot market is becoming lively.    Agreed on the lens. Does seem a bit wide and slow.

    Nikon Coolpix A

Interesting camera. Fixed 28mm (equivalent) lens. APS-C sized sensor. Looks like Nikons respone to the Sony RX1, albeit at a cheaper price point. It does 24 and 30p and 1080 and 720.    Will be interesting to see how it performs!    http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Compact-Digital-Cameras/26423/COOLPIX-A.html#tab-ProductDetail-ProductTabs-Overview
  21. I wish! I sincerely doubt that will happen, but it would make me a very happy 5D owner!
  22. I have to ask why? Its approaching RX100 size now and I think those are far more useful for sports
  23. You will not get very good results with the 50mm lens, I don't think. Should be great with the SLR magic 12mm I've used this setup with a t2i and various lenses and it worked great
