Yep, it's not EOSHD that's the problem it's me! I need to get my enthusiasm back. It's been a tough time.
Thanks for the comments guys, it is helping me figure things out a lot.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Just the motivation I need to try and turn the ship around.
I can't promise much at the moment. Hopefully I find the energy to do that. Would not like this place just whittle away to obscurity after 11 years so if I do need to change what I do in life, I would look at selling EOSHD and would never just hit a button to take it offline. The original purpose and spirit of picking up a small mirrorless camera and making films is still there today and we need to help one another on that mission.

Another year over and what a shit one it was, to be quite frank about it. We all deserve a bit of peace and happiness at Christmas after this, to get our spirits up so that's my hope for all of you - have a good one, and cheers for your EOSHD-ing all year through thick and thin, keep the passion and let's keep our heads above water!
And I hope all your front rooms look as great as this...

Forum news. You can now switch between dark and light theme.
I prefer the dark one, especially on a bright modern high contrast IPS or OLED screen.
Much easier on the eye and photos / videos really pop now on the darker backdrop.
    Enjoy!

Since then EOSHD is the main info about independent low budget source. I really enjoy info about cinema, cameras and editor's personal point of view . I respect that.

Is there any chance you could get a color checker and record it with both of your cameras at the same time? Note that both cameras need to be properly exposed and white balanced.

I second what @heart0less said.  If you expose and WB both cameras then you can shoot a colour checker with both of them afterwards and broadly work out how to make one look like the other.
Good colour grading advice I got from someone once was that cameras don't have to match - they just have to match closely enough so that the differences aren't distracting, like "they're from the same universe".

These days, as long as the camera has a decent codec with good bit rate, you can pretty easily color match cameras when using a gray/white card or, even better, a color checker card. Using the color checker in Resolve gets you very, very close. You might just have to make a couple tweaks, but it's pretty quick and easy.

Francisco Rios reacted to Andrew Reid in Western governments are criminally negligent over Coronavirus
There is a slow burning realisation and awakening in the UK and Europe (it will come to the US soon) that we have fucked up.
    Big time.
In Japan and Taiwan, simple early hygiene measures avoided a lockdown or economic crash. Thousands of jobs saved, but more importantly thousands of lives saved from the outset.
In January, the Japanese started to test in-depth for coronavirus and did case by case contact tracing and isolation. The public did their bit by wearing masks en-masse in public and using hand sanitiser. @BTM_Pix points out that most if not all shops had hand sanitiser on the entrance so people didn't unwittingly spread by handling goods.
At the same time, here in the UK our government did nothing. Business as normal.
In February our crackpot chief advisor started to float the theory of herd immunity, and amazingly the chief scientists and government itself went for this strategy straight off the bat, as the first cases reached the UK. When the scientists ran the numbers, it wasn't until over a month later... It would result in 2 million dead people, minimum.
The chief advisor Dominic Cummings is rumoured to have been advocating for the death of 2 million people as late as February 28th.
"At one private event at the end of February, Cummings outlined then government’s strategy at the time in a way that was summarised by some present as “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad.”
Meanwhile in Japan and Taiwan, the simple hygiene measures were leaving some of the most densely populated cities on Earth virtually untouched by the epidemic.
But for Italy things were rapidly going downhill. Another government who sat on their hands in January and February.
Italy's terrifying unfolding tragedy is a glimpse into the future for all of us... Just 2-4 weeks into the future.
In Italy, 20-30% of intensive care patients are aged 20-40. People with underlying health or lung problems are at great risk even if they're young.
Hospitals and health systems will collapse.
The sudden lockdowns required, will crash the economy, creating joblessness, government debt and hardship on a scale never seen before in modern times.
Meanwhile Japan remains open for business.
Sure, with some major events cancelled and the Olympics in doubt... But over in China, they are already going back to work.
Taiwan has some of the fewest cases and deaths per 100,000 people in the world, despite being on the doorstep of China.
    Hong Kong too.
In the West this is the biggest government manslaughter unfolding, that has ever been seen in our lives.
Italy, Spain, Germany, UK, US, we are all going to face utter darkness. Please takes step to protect yourselves from the government's handling of this in the critical early stages. It is going to get out of control.

Francisco Rios reacted to Andrew Reid in Introducing the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT for that washed out nationalist propaganda look
    From John Gruber (Daring Fireball):
“This is how Apple chose to unveil the packaging for the Mac Pro — in a poorly-shot overexposed propaganda video by the White House, scored with bombastic music that sounds like it came from an SNL parody of a Michael Bay film. Think about how it feels to work on that team at Apple.”
“A low moment in Apple’s proud history, and a sadly iconic moment for Tim Cook. I hope avoiding those tariffs is worth it.”
    BEAUTIFULLY GRADED!
Apple’s latest ad is a brave new direction for the Cupertino tech giant’s brand.
To celebrate, I have created the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT.

Francisco Rios reacted to BTM_Pix in Zoom H3-VR 1st Impressions & Sample Files
First of all, this is not some big comprehensive review but just a brief look and some samples that I took on the first day that I took it out.
OK, with that disclaimer out of the way, lets have a look at it.

The H3-VR is an integrated ambisonic microphone array and recorder and you can find the full product information here
    https://www.zoom-na.com/products/field-video-recording/field-recording/zoom-h3-vr-handy-recorder
Basically, what it allows you to do is record the output from its 4 microphones either as a stereo binaural track or as a 4 channel ambisonics B format which you can then manipulate in post to effectively simulate changing the mic position after the fact.
If you want a bit of a primer on ambisonics then this link will sort you out
    https://www.waves.com/ambisonics-explained-guide-for-sound-engineers
I've mentioned the H3-VR a few times in responses in various threads about field recording, particularly with regard to ambient tracks, so on my last trip I decided that it was time to put my money where my mouth was and actually buy one. Well, with the proviso that I found one cheap enough, which I did, so here we are.
First impressions are that it is much smaller than I had expected which is no bad thing and very, very light so its not going to be a problem to mount it on a camera.
Here it is on the very diminutive OG Pocket Cinema Camera which I was using for testing it with.

Incidentally, the foam shield is included in the box but I'd budget for a deadcat if you are using it outdoors and I'd probably also caution against mounting like it is here as it is very prone to handling noise even as transference from operating the camera controls.
It is very straightforward to use as it has a good menu system and you can record in an array of stereo and B format modes and it also has a headphone monitor which you can select to be stereo or binaural.
This option is also available on the line out so for the examples further down they are sent to the camera as a binaural mix but still recorded in B format in the recorder for later manipulation if necessary.
To make post sync easy, you have the option for it to send a tone burst to the camera at the start of each recording and the H3-VR also has an inbuilt gyro so that it knows which way is up as it where in terms of where the microphones were during the recording. This function is also used for shooting 360 videos as it allows the unit to be connected upside down under a 360 camera to keep it out of shot and also enables you to use it in end-fire mode.

Specs wise, it can record in various formats up to and including 24bit/96Khz so you can have a decent amount of headroom for your recordings but there is also a limiter and lo cut filters to give you a bit more security.
My interest in this system is partly for VR but primarily for general ambience recording to create a more immersive soundscape with the ability to do some manipulation of the sound targeting in post production.
Its worth bearing in mind that until very, very recently, having a B format microphone array and recording setup (let alone one that can fit in a large pocket and runs off two AA batteries) was a very specialist niche with a price tag to match so you'll have to manage your expectations about matching something like that but I've got to say that for me its going to be a very useful little item to supplement rather than replace other sound recording gear I've got.
For these examples, I chose two different scenarios (although they are only about 15 minutes walk away from each other in Tokyo!) to illustrate its use in capturing soundscapes with different densities and degrees of subtlety.
The audio on these is from the line out of the H3VR set to binaural stereo straight into the OG Pocket Cinema Camera whilst the H3-VR was recording them internally in the 4 channel B Format (Ambix in this case).
Make sure you put some decent headphones on to listen and you should be able to pick up some degree of height and rear positioning of sounds within the environment and as objects move around it.
If you want to experiment with manipulating the B format files, Zoom have a standalone player that enables you to do this

    This is available free from
    https://www.zoom-na.com/products/field-video-recording/field-recording/zoom-h3-vr-handy-recorder#downloads
And I have put the original B format files from the H3VR from the videos above for you to download and use with it here
    https://mega.nz/#!RqYQXSpB!Ydluy4G-ouMIEJbJyWWTAzcG4DIUU47G2GNKhMyVpJM
OK, thats it for now, as this is very much just an initial look at it and I'll return to flesh it out with more information as I use it a bit more but hope some of you can find some use in it.
