I like the flexibility of using crop mode if need more reach on FF, that is my biggest convenient point. Sadly only R5/R6 can meet my point atm for 4k60 on FF and Crop mode. A7s3 is FF mode only while Pana is S35 only.

RED have monopoly on compressed raw over 1:5 ratio, but not uncompressed. Sigma fp have internal uncompressed raw without problem, Canon have internal 1:4 Cinema RAW (cross licence with Red so they can use RF mount). its more than just LUT, have you ever tried to change WB on a JPEG..? Totally different than trying on RAW photo, so technically it should be the same for RAW video but turns out there is more to that.

Interesting to know only Panasonic prores raw give u full control, Nikon's one is the worst, all other only allow ISO but no WB control, and WB is the one that is the most important!

GH5 and older cam can use the new S5 battery, but not vice versa, cause S5's battery have a separate pin

Mostly follow the local fb group i am in, there are some good advice there as people tend to share their findings and research (and some bad ones too though, so choose wisely). I do it as long term investment instead of playing for short term, so minor dips dont worry me much. Since bank interest is so low so and gonna be that way for a few years there is no point put money in the bank unless u buying a house or something. I didn't watch youtube as they are like any other youtuber...

From the FB group seems like there is firmware coming for S1 with improved AF and other stuff..? So oldie is not forgotten. Man I hope those 1.8 are $499 or less, $1000 is definitely on the high side.

Yeah I just put in the some of the money I earned into it, not borrowing from bank to play with it, so worst case scenario is it might turn to pile of paper but at least my other asset are still fine. Some other people can go super crazy about it though.

I think its better to hold what you have now and buy gear next year, no point to spend more if your earning is taking a hit.

lol I wish! Usually jobs for bigger name company they trust production company with team members more than 1 man band.. all about perception i guess? My personal side job just few hundreds a day on the weekends, though this year due to covid I dont have much vs last year The company has lost $x0,000 of sales due to covid this year ugh. (lots of canned event shoot)

Well it's a company job, so have to pay wages to staff, pay rents for studio , pay electricity etc, different than work from home.

It's all totally depend on user situation, if you are one man band or only have 1 camera surely A7siii is more better, but if you are in production house with lots of existing gear then it is another situation. If we can still get 10k job with 8bit camera then why not..? lol But we should be really discussing S5 not Canon.

yeah i missed on zoom, but happy with my return so far guess stock is my new drug now instead of new gears 😅 hopefully i can use the earnings to buy new gear some time next year, this year is pretty crap for video jobs.
