According to Japanese news outlet Nikkan the Panasonic GH5 will get a resolution bump to approximately 20MP, with 18MP stills pulled from the 6K video mode in 16:9 aspect ratio. 4K at higher frame rates such as 60p, likely with a crop of the sensor is rumoured to be possible.

The latest news on cameras, from EOSHD
Early adopters have put the Sony A6300 image quality and autofocus to the test – the results are incredible (see below). Could Sony have achieved something very special with their combination of 6K sensor readout and 425 phase detect points?
[vimeo]https://vimeo.com/155747487[/vimeo] The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is the not-quite-a-replacement for the Pocket Cinema Camera. Although lacking the ready to shoot straight out of the box form factor of that camera, the new model adds a switchable rolling shutter / global shutter mode as well as high frame rates. 10bit ProRes, 12bit RAW and 13+ stop dynamic range for $995 round out the spec.
Canon dropped some crumbs on the floor for the enthusiasts this week.
HDMI monitor manufacturers continue to miss a trick by not building an ultra thin monitor the size of a smartphone (or phablet) with build in battery rather than a bulky brick-like Sony NP block on the back of a chunky monitor. Now a solution might be at hand to turn your existing Android smartphone or tablet into an HDMI monitor and even recorder.
Without doubt my favourite camera series of the last 5 years has been the Panasonic GH range. But with the Sony A6300 on the horizon sporting a Super 35mm sensor with full 6K readout, is the future looking a bit shaky for Panasonic’s video wunderkind?
Panasonic now provide a smaller version of the VariCam S35 which is aimed squarely at the high end cinema market. The VariCam LT is Panasonic’s answer to the Alexa Mini and also competes with the Canon C300 Mark II and Sony F55 although at $18k for the body-only is a world away from the Sony FS7 pricing when it comes to the wider pro market for b-cameras and drones.
Sony have announced a huge step up in specs for their A6000 series with the latest model, the A6300. With a completely new sensor, the camera now does a 6K full pixel readout to produce ‘perfect’ oversampled 4K video. For $998 at B&H Photo & Video this is a superb bargain of a camera.
