If true that would basically be the R5C mk2 in an FX type body. Also Nikon is supposed to drop Nikon ZR the following day. What a time to be alive! I was considering pulling the trigger on a used R50V (actually being sold by the guy who does the Camera Conspiracies channel) all weekend long - then I seen the Canon USA post on IG. Lumix has been on a roll in 2025, but Canon and Nikon were of course cooking something up in the background just as Sony is and sure as night follows day, today's news is tomorrow's fish & chips wrapper. Except the tools of course do not instantly become junk. I made my own decision knowing that it was almost certain no matter what Canon did, I'd never go there but Sony or Nikon could have been a very valid option. Not quite as they were or are, - too many 'missing' elements for me with Nikon, but the most likely to resolve those, possibly/probably with the ZR, - we will find out. Sony would have been the most likely as things stood a few months back, having 3 great lenses and I could have made an all FX-30 line up work. So personally, intrigued/interested in what will come and I may have some envious eyes in some regards, but I really do need stability myself now in this department after spending years of chasing the holy grail of one man band full hybrid capability. Will other kit surpass what I have? For sure... Maybe not this year but certainly by next year and no question by 2027, but my primary focus is now firmly on the creative side. It always was, but was constantly distracted and hampered by kit and logistics and now that has been removed... It's funny that there was a short circuit between the rumor sites. Andrea Pizzini's sites got the information first, and the Canon Rumors site had to play catch-up. All the info on a Canon camera was on the Sony rumors site. The Canon rumors site seems like Pravda, a direct mouthpiece for Canon (who isn't today?) Django Posted 11 hours ago Share Posted 11 hours ago I dunno, couple weeks ago it was an APS-C sensor, yesterday it was the 45MP FF R5ii sensor, and today it's a 32MP FF sensor.. which Canon doesn't have AFAIK. Maybe it's the new rumoured sensor from R6iii or maybe its APSC. It didn't and I have nothing against Canon, but it's a brand I have never owned. 5 years of college and uni was all Nikon film cameras. When I worked in commercial photography for a while, Nikon film. Started my wedding career, Nikon film. Approx 5 years of Nikon digital and then 9 years of Fuji mirrorless and then was split the last couple of years between Sony & Nikon for stills and Lumix for video. The only 'problem' I have with Canon now would be cost. Sold off all my Sony & Nikon recently and went all in on Lumix and the cost to trade was somewhere around zero because I reduced the amount of bodies and lenses. If I had moved to an all Nikon set up, it would have cost me a few grand. Sony a little more. Canon a lot more, and at a rough calculation, about 15k to have the equivalent set up to what I have with Lumix and what would I gain exactly? Nada in my opinion. I guess it mostly comes down to needs, but also what level you are invested in any system and Lumix made, makes and will continue to make the most sense for my specific needs. BUT, I'm still interested in what else is out there, but more out of professional curiosity than anything. On another note, there is supposed to be news coming from the Dolomites later today regarding DJI's full frame camera and if that thing isn't just rumour, could be interesting and shake the market up a bit? I’m betting not and despite the community crying out for it, won’t be happening any time soon, but it would be great if it did, or when it does! I’ve been doing some trials with a 2-5 stop VND on my S1Rii’s which are brilliant for hybrid shooters having 5 custom settings each for both stills and video, ie, flick one switch for stills or video and rotate one dial through 5 different custom options, and that is great and the VND starting at 2 stops makes zero real world difference when shooting stills. But how great would it be if there was some kind of auto VND internally and you could skip that whole thing? Someone has to do internal VND soon surely on full frame MILC? eatstoomuchjam Posted 2 hours ago Share Posted 2 hours ago The rumors about a 30ish megapixel sensor when combined with FX30 killer got me laughing out loud since Canon absolutely have a 30ish megapixel full frame sensor that they could put in a small cinema body and sell for a price slightly below the FX30... Putting all of that information together, we quickly arrive at the conclusion that Canon will be releasing a cinema version of the EOS R.
