Davide DB
I see you all lurking in the shadows, secretly reading the rumors, too afraid to hit “post”... 😇 In just a few days, the new Lumix FF is set to drop—and rumor has it, we’re talking cinema camera territory. The Canadian YouTubers? Already in Texas and Portugal, probably under NDAs thicker than a RED firmware update. So... are we talking or what? Because let’s face it: after this one, it’s gonna be another six years—and at least one global event worthy of a disaster movie—before Panasonic releases their next cine cam. Built-in ND? Or are we chasing DJI ghosts again? Meanwhile, our cowboy filmmaker has the mystery box chilling on the hood of his pickup, right across from the light he’s testing: Emanuel and eatstoomuchjam
eatstoomuchjam
This seems to be the clearest frame of it. It's not really giving much away, though. Davide DB

At least now the mindless YouTube zombies won't have to write angry letters to Panasonic that they should send a camera to CM "so we can see what it can really do." Simon Young
The latest rumor is they are releasing TWO cameras: S1ii and S1iix - the latter I presume more video oriented. I really hope they use the Z6iii sensor (as speculated) and that the S1iix is a more compact form factor, with no EVF, bigger fan, no IBIS and a thick OLPF. MrSMW
4 hours ago, Davide DB said: Built-in ND? I am going to predict not. I reckon it will be S5ii spec in a Sony FX3 style body and that's about it. Possibly a better built and beefier S9... Interested? 'Mildly curious'. I have literally just finished packing up my van after updating software, resetting all the settings and clocks etc on all my kit ahead of this seasons opening event. I have ZERO interest in changing anything until this season is done and in the bag. Mid-season changes just cause problems! eatstoomuchjam and Davide DB

stephen
Apart of Canon there is one company only that produces sensors for hybrid mirrorless cameras - Sony. Panasonic will use a sensor that Sony semiconductors makes and sells. I doubt this sensor will be something completely new and unknown. Nikon Z6 III semi stacked sensor ? We already have it and Nikon NRaw can be imported directly in Davinci Resolve. ProRes RAW that Panasonic uses in their latest cameras can't. I wish Panasonic survives and stay as a viable player in photo / video camera industry.
Al Dolega
Looks to still be mirrorless/photo form factor. That would be fine with me if the EVF tilted and there were NDs. Having the grip rotate would be nice too. Thpriest

If the rumor’s true and they’re dropping two new cameras, I’m not even that fussed about how they differ from each other. I just want to know how they plan to make them stand out from the S5II and S5IIX. How are they gonna explain that to customers? Just the 60p crop? Seriously, how do they expect all these models to survive in a market that’s getting tighter by the minute? And it’s not like they’re Canon, Nikon, or Sony. Beats me, feels like a magic trick at this point. Simon Young

The x model will come with a hat and it'll have built-in wheels and a special "X" button that makes the camera itself start doing sick burnouts in the sand. There will also be a special Gerald Undone edition of both cameras that will have a special extra-super-hdr mode that increases the rolling shutter to 41.5ms. On this model, the leatherette will be purple. Finally, there will be a Matt Granger special pocket edition which is the same as a normal edition, but comes with some extra large pocket cargo pants. berkenboom
I am not sure what the next camera will be. The S1R had a "upgrade" with the S1RII. it had more of a S5 body style. so not as rugged as the original. The original S1 vs S1R only had the sensor as a difference. But then where to put the S1 non R successor without cannibalising the current S5/ S5II market. (if they keep the same form factor) Both camera's are on sale currently making it hard to ask more then 1700. If they keep the same 24 megapixel sensor like in the S5 then whats the point? what feature will make it stand out? Only thing i can think of is an S1S like in sports. fast burst rates, great AF, because Sony limits burst speeds with sigma glass.
ND64
The only way for them to remedy the Z6iii sensor's flickering is using a better noise reduction. Its too late for a hardware tweak. Meanwhile I hope this rumor of Sony Semi becoming independent entity is true. Davide DB
MrSMW
11 hours ago, berkenboom said: The original S1 vs S1R only had the sensor as a difference It was a lot more than that with a completely different body. Other than the brand badge and the menu system, they were 2 very different cameras and the new S1Rii is far more like a bigger brother ‘upgrade’ to the S5ii than it is to the OG S1R. 11 hours ago, berkenboom said: If they keep the same 24 megapixel sensor like in the S5 then whats the point? what feature will make it stand out? This is the thing. Other than a different body style, what will be the difference and will it be enough to matter? Everyone hopes for something groundbreaking such as internal ND, but unless it’s a high end ‘flagship’, that ain’t going to happen. I really would like to see something special but not going to hold my breath… I might be interested in a single unit if it does something extra special my S9 cannot. What would that have to be? Zero crop 4k 60p (ideally 6k 60p) open gate, water resistant and twin card slots in a small/compact package. I prefer using my S9 as my run & gun over my S5ii’s but yesterday got caught in heavy rain and that has me rethinking that slightly!

They won't keep the same sensor. Megapixels may be the same but sensor will be faster partially or fully stacked sensor. This seems to be a common theme creeping in the rumors for most mid tier cameras that will appear this year. Nikon was the first with Z6 III, so the partially stacked sensor is available for Panasonic. According to the rumors Canon R6 III will have the same sensor as EOS R3 which is fully stacked. We'll see soon if 24Mpx fully stacked sensor from Sony will appear in a Sony or Panasonic or both cameras. At the moment it is pure speculation. MrSMW
S1IIE? Sounds like one of those really bad, over-priced ‘private’ number plate that Brits with more money than sense, spend their money on. I think it’s supposed to read phonetically as SILLY? Juank

The S1 and S1R were identical bodies from what I remember. Looking at them on CameraSize they're pretty much indistinguishable other than the badge, same dimensions and everything.
