Wow. That's great news. Hopefully a Mavic Pro @ below $1500 with a 1inch sensor.

Very unlikely. One inch sensor would require a larger camera and lens, thus bigger motors and gimbal to handle the load with higher ground clearance and larger vibration dampening system (=higher skids, bigger battery to handle the front heavy CG, etc.). There no free meal. I'm not sure that you can design a compact drone like the Mavic with a one inch sensor.

The Typhoon Plus is interesting, the main point of this drone is redundancy. Thanks to it's 6 motors, the Typhoon can withstand a single propeller, ESC, or motor failure whereas any quadcopter would spin-crash to death in case of prop/motor failure (note: the Inspire 2 has ESC redundancy).

Unfortunately I doubt that Autel and Walkera can shake DJI technological and commercial advantage. Autel is facing DJI lawsuit and they announced drones in the past that failed to materialized (X-Star 3 & Venture II). They are lagging in terms of technology. Their RC link are way behind DJI lightbrige and ocusync digital links. The Typhoon plus is based on a classical PX4 flight controller.

DJI owns the market. The pathetic attempts like the 3DR Solo and the GoPro Karma have been commercial failures. DJI will probably announce a new Phantom or an updated Mavic (higher bitrate, etc.). Perhaps a new Osmo or X7 compatibility.

The footage of it (not from it) had it wobbling all over the place despite it being inside. The DJI drones, by contrast, looked like they were on tripods they were so steady. Curious to know if this was just the tracking mode issue or a real stability difference. Also the object avoidance was demonstrated by him walking up to the drone and stopping. ?? Such a dodgy demonstration. The most entertaining part of the whole thing was when the drone in the background area got stuck high up in the net - that was worth seeing.

DJI teases new folding drone announcement for January 23rd: https://***URL removed***/news/4951883656/dji-teases-new-folding-drone-announcement-for-january-23rd

I saw this too.

It's almost like anyone says the word Drone anywhere in the world, and DJI introduces a new camera.

Andrew Reid could you Please create a New Thread/ Article on the 3 Drones we want DJI to make, at 3 Price Points (maybe at $999, $1999, $2999) with Features outlined for Each Price point. We could maybe have a discussion on it and take it forward.

They could include the 1/2.3" sensor with like 100mbps H.265 codec, a 1" sensor drone and another higher lineup.

Btw the Tagline "Adventure Unfolds" perhaps hints at some kind of sports featured drone?

One for $99 too please ;-)

Hahaha. Not sure what the record quality on tjat would be. Or the minutes of flight.

How about a drone that does what the Fraudulent/ Scam Lily Drone promised. Doing underwater and in the sky, without changing anything. That would be a first.

And like a 1 hour flight time.

Isn’t DJI Tello $99

That one's actually a regurgitated Hubsan X4 at about 3 or 4 times the price with a 720p camera.

Btw some Chinese guy hacked the camera on the Hubsan and changed it with a much higher res model. And i think the module was available ovet the shelf for like $10 or $20.

Well well, that is news to me. Little surprised DJI is going after that extreme bottom end of the market.

It's a policy decision to ensure broader acceptance of drones. . There is a polar division among many people who have drones and those who don't have drones. The ones not having them, constantly arguing about banning drones.

With a wider acceptance, more people will probably be on their side. Otherwise, if they keep it a prime product segment. There might be so many anti-drone laws, that could just kill the entire industry as a whole and limit it to a very specialized permit-based segment.

Back to the EVO.......it has a (typical) 1/2.3" sensor.     They also had one at CES that had a 1" sensor-but that was just a prototype, and may well never happen.    IF they had one with a 1" sensor that also had a MECHANICAL shutter (and variable aperture) in a foldable drone, THEN they would have something.    Like the same camera as on a Phantom 4 Pro for instance.  Autel has a history of BAD follow through.    They have made promises and not kept them, in the past.    So I will believe it when I actually see it.
