My cameras and kit

1. 'BOB - Last Day of an Endless Summer' tells the love story of a man and his 12 year companion.   Shot on the Canon EOS 600D w/ Zeiss Contax Primes.   https://vimeo.com/64921451   PRODUCTION red penguin films www.rpfilms.de   DIRECTOR Sebastian Peters   CAMERA Markus Haken markushaken.com   MUSIC Born Ruffians - Needle bornruffians.com
2. I wanted to share my first film shot on the Canon C100 Cinema Cam. I shot the whole thing in one weekend for a 48 Hour Film Festival using only 3 Zeiss ZE lenses: 15mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.4. 90% of it ended up on the 35mm. Amazing Lens!   I really liked the look of the C100 with the Zeisses. We shot, not in C-Log, but  the "High Dynamic Range" profile. Feels very filmic to me. (Some shots more than others.) Also, the C100 was a breeze to shoot on for a 48 hour festival. Adaptable to all 5 of our locations within seconds and post-production was cake. Such an easy workflow.   Tell me what you think!   http://vimeo.com/64573912
3. Hey there, Long time reader, first time poster. I recently filmed an engagement session, and wanted to achieve a shallow depth of field in bright light without using an ND filter. So, knowing that I would end up slowing the footage down to about 40%, I cranked up the shutter speed in order to hit around f/2. The results? Well, see for yourself:   http://acelegendary.com/blog/2013/4/9/sean-liz-save-the-date   Filmed with the following gear: 7D + Zeiss 50mm f/2 Makro-Planar and T2i + Canon 50mm f/1.4 (on Glidecam HD2000).
4. Had several questions about these lately, here's a more in depth breakdown: http://jeremyosbern.com/blog/2013/04/16/zeiss-ultrascope-anamorphic-lens/ I plan on shooting a project in Ultrascope later this year, using both RED and 35mm film, then comparing the two. I'll post it when it's done.
5. 6. https://vimeo.com/18743558   After completing a few fesitvals, we've made this short film public now. It was shot a couple of years ago all on 550D. That was before I used Magic Lantern, mosaic filter, knew half of what I do now!    We're still pretty happy with it now, though we're also confident of doing better on the next one.   It was also way before Black Mirror ;)
7. https://vimeo.com/58725919   Got our set of CP2 ... hope you like the video ....
8. Hey there! Just finished up a short film for a local "make a film in a week" competition, and thought I'd share it. It won Best Director, was nominated for Best Drama, and was shot entirely on the Canon 5D MKIII with Zeiss ZF.2 glass. Let me know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB5EBZa1qeU
9. I finally found the short film that I worked on all semester in LA a year ago, albeit sans color correction. We shot a special flat profile on the FS-100 with Zeiss Super Speeds (per my suggestion). My friend and I were co-soundmen, all the way through from pre-post production.    They've disabled embedding. It is on this page, and is called "The Star". http://www.bestsemester.com/lafsc/
10. This video, for the band Aloosh, is currently unlisted, but I thought I'd come and give you guys a sneak preview as this is my favorite online hangout ;)   All shot in Snowdonia using FS700, there's a lot of tasty treats getting made and broken in sloooooooow motion here....   http://youtu.be/cuMjew8TbnE   You can watch part one here if you've not seen it already:   http://youtu.be/PNGquFXmLOU   The band's album can be heard at www.aloosh.co.uk if you're interested...   JG
11. The Zero FGilm festival celebrates low-budget and self funded film worldwide, with several international festivals. I have films both opening and closing the shorts programme here tomorrow in Brick Lane, London, which is a great honor. At 5pm my short film Ceramic (two films set to music, all shot using FS700 slow motion) is showing, then to close the night my short with Thom Haig, SoMe https://vimeo.com/21926626 will be playing. http://www.zerofilmfest.com/london It'll be a great chance to meet film makers, see some awesome work and drink mescal Hopefully see some of you there! 12. http://blogs.zeiss.com/photo/en/?p=2860 For those with money to burn (or the rental houses), new high-end Zeiss primes for Canon and Nikon. These resemble the Hasselblad medium-format lenses in size and construction. Pretty spectacular things!

With this new line of lenses, we are continuing our concept of high-quality lenses for this camera system while attempting to construct them with relatively light materials. For the mechanical parts, we were looking for the best tradeoff between quality in material and total weight. As a result, we decided on a mix of materials. For parts that require no metal for accuracy or strength, we have also approved lighter materials." Or to put it simply, no. 14. Only $11,000! http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574929666&toolid=10001&campid=5336727214&customid=&icep_item=180918390524&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg 8mm T1.3 (18mm equivalent on full frame, 12mm equivalent on Super 35) I'll take two! This covers 23% more than Super 16, so it does cover the larger sensor in the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Maybe not optimal in the corners though, like you'd expect for an expensive ultra prime on Super 16mm.
15. Here's 3 quick fun shots made on FS700 at 400FPS. I've hired this for a couple of music promos so I just made some quick shots to try it out. ;) It's a great camera, but the screen potion is pretty retarded, and the ND filter wheel feels incredibly cheap. https://vimeo.com/48076374
16. Here's a promo shot for about 50 quid of expenses and four days work. All the gear is my own. Particularly impressed by RX100 and the new Magic Lantern 2.3, which on 2.8x bitrate mode lets you get much better high ISO footage. Some of the flame lit shots were at ISO3200, the 100mbps average bit rate (over twice standard) keeps the noise quite distinct from geniune details, allowing it to be removed more easily, and resulting in very clean and detailed high ISO footage after sharpening. Bonus! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKbroy8sA7I
17. This was shot on a 5D Mark II on a shoestring budget. One of the things we're looking to do is get businesses in our city to think a bit differently about how they can utilize online video. Most of it was shot initially using cheap E series Nikon glass and a Sigma 50mm 1.4, and about 30% of it was shot using our zeiss glass. There's maybe 6 or 7 shots that were captured on a 7D. Hope you enjoy it.
