The menu screen on the 90D for enabling "4K movie cropping," which includes this warning: "When using 4K movie cropping, camera temp. becomes too high both when shoot. and in standby. Movie rec. may not be possible." That language suggests that shooting cropped 4K runs the risk of overheating. Yet uncropped 4K should place even greater demands on the processor and the sensor. So how could this camera shoot uncropped 4K without overheating yet run the risk of overheating when shooting the less-demanding cropped 4K? The only way that makes sense is if the uncropped 4K is not really 4K.
Found this somewhere. Suggest indeed that Canon uncropped 4k isn't really 4k but lower res upscaled to 4k. After the soft canon 1080p we get soft canon 4k ?

Interesting that Panasonic chose dual SD slots....
Why? Love it. Simple solution with backup capability. No expensive media like CFast/CFExpress/XQD.

But I am not sure how one can say that it doesn't need great autofocus, and then say the fact that the screen flips forward is awesome.
Do people use manual focus when the screen is flipped forward?
Would have been great if the autofocus was better. Just imagine it had DPAF like Canon.
Still very usable for wedding & events (like the GH5 is), but would have killed every other camera if it had better autofocus. -
Does a Nikon Z mount to EF mount adapter with electronic contacts exist?

Pricing for 90D, looks the same as 80D was.
Canon EOS 90D Body $1199
Canon EOS 90D w/18-55mm STM Kit $1349
Canon EOS 90D w/18-135mm USM Kit $1599 -

There are so many options for decent 4k & video features these days (at an unbeatable price point) that I'm no longer hoping for Canon to satisfy my requirements. The party is somewhere else now and boy is it raging!
I'll always remember Canon fondly. The 5d II was my first proper camera and then the 5D III. Only reason I've still kept hold of it - Great stills, and great video (But only with Magic Lantern). However I shall be selling it soon to raise money for more gear
I just wish there was a camera that had decent pdaf video tracking with (adapted) Canon EF lenses.

I can understand the M6ii not having 24p as it's low end / entry level, but the 90D is supposed to be the high end / flagship APS-C camera (even replacing the 7D series).

Why would anyone want to pay $1399 for a camera that lacks 24p? I wouldn't, not when I can buy something like a Panasonic G9 body for $1599 and a 14-140mm lens for another $650 and get not only 4K60p, but 24p as well? And get superior image quality, even though the G9 has only a 20MP M43 sensor?
You wouldn't for video. Not sure I even would for just photography (single sd, no ibis). The only people they sold it to before are now all using phones an tablets for captureing their kids. Will not sell that great as 70D/80D once did for sure.

How about a $50 challenge?
Sounds good.

I guess it was overhyped. I dont see a point of getting one with such a shitty AF. Sigma is a bit heavier, gives better and stronger bokeh, better AF for video (!) and costs 500 $ used vs 2000 euro for this one (or 1800$ for lucky chaps in US). The price\efficiency ratio just doesnt cut it. Useless lens.
Ok, used sigma + Viltrox adapter = 700$ ~ 1 kilo
But Sony FE Tamron 28-75 2.8 = 800$ and it gives better range, perfect AFC and weights TWICE less (550grams) then Sigma+booster combo. Year I know it Sony, but in terms of weights, price and specs it is very comparible if not favorable to Panasonic options
And Pana 10-27 - 1800-2000$ with its 700 grams in the middle. Mehh
Now I have even more reasons to switch to Sony (all thos wonderfull Tamron lenses).. waiting on that A7S3 duh
The only important thing Panasonic still wins over Sony in my bag - is its IBIS. But maybe Sony will improve on it as well. We shall see.
Why is the video C-AF so bad with the panasonic lens? Is it the camera (gh5?) or the cdaf that is failing? Or just bad AF from the lens? Can't understand why they didn't notice while designing/testing this lens.

No 'last place has to sent their camera to winner' and I'm in!

Oh, yes, absolutely! Anyone who really needs 24p can probably afford to shell out for a second-hand 550D, maybe even a 60D if they really feel like splashing the cash.
Or they could buy, you know, literally any camera from any of the other DSLR/mirrorless manufacturers out there.
?
They might announce a 'filmmaker' addon license key for $499 that includes 24p, all-i, c-log & 4k dpaf ?

That is not it. It is a cost saving measure to improve their margins on consumer products which are becoming increasingly pressed by alternative competition such as from cell phones.
They will never tell you that however, instead they will tell you some bogus technical "reason" so you will stop asking why.
Cost saving how? It is likely just a compiler flag they set when compiling the firmware. Don't think it requires much testing.

People who need 24p can afford cameras that have it. 24p truly is no match for 60 Hz monitors. I would be happy if 24p would one day be gone from internet, but much more likely that I have 120 Hz monitor before that happens and then it does not matter anymore.
How do we do this in Europe them? We have 25fps and most monitors are also 60 Hz somehow.

One of the rumor sites had it at $1399
That would even be more expensive then the 80D as it was $1199 / €1299.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 4k were upsampled
That is certainly possible. How would we know? I guess we can kind of compare crop canon 4k with new uncropped 4k. Or maybe the 4k will be as soft as 1080p was, that was also upsampled.

Why is Canon even releasing EOS M cameras at this point? What was the last lens they released for it?
The razer sharp EF-M 32mm f1.4 beginning of this year.

Maybe Canon helpdesk gets to many questions about what that 24p is and it confuses their users so they removed it for our convenience ?
-
-
The 90D will be the last one anyway, since 100D already exists in europe ?
It's a Canon upgrade/downgrade. What did we expect.

Yeah, the 90D is only showing 25p and 30p as well... Canon is nuts if they actually think they can sell a $1000 camera and not have 24p.
The 80D was 1300€ on release, don't think this one will be cheaper...

Where did you find this? Will likely be the same for 90D then. But could have been worse (line skipping 2,5K ish crap)
