TurboRat reacted to Trek of Joy in Setup for Slow motion booth (Editing + Sharing to Social Media)?
The video from Matthew Staffords wedding looks like it was shot on a Red.
I was at an event where they did this with an iPhone taking with a simple setup of a small fluorescent key/fill/hair light. They shot stills, boomerangs and recorded goofy slow mo stuff, sending it to an iPad through an app (don't know what the app was called, but guests were able to email the video to themselves), and broadcast with an Apple tv mirroring the iPad. In good light the iPhone 120fps looks good, and its fine for social. If you didn't have the app, someone could just shoot the video on a phone and airdrop it to an iPad or MacBook for a quick edit, and then it can be emailed or airdropped to other iPhones.
I've attached a shot of the iPad that was used for review and emailing images/videos. Wish I could help with specifics, but a combo of iphone/ipad would be my solution. A ILC presents a lot of headaches in terms of file transfer, file size, edit/render speed and so on. I have the iPhone XS and XS Max (one is supplied by a company I work for, I'm not a two phone dink by choice) and the iPad Pro. I think it would be easy to pull off what you're looking for with my little setup with two people - a shooter and a editor to make quick clips and send them to guests. Five seconds of slow-mo video of someone dancing or throwing crap in the air could easily be edited in iMovie and emailed in less than a minute.
Everything you need including lights and stands can probably be carried in one large bag/case. The days of the DSLR based photo booth are numbered, there's no reason to lug all that around for small instant prints or social when phones and a few lights will get you virtually identical quality. And you can probably charge a lot for the service. Hmmmm...

Funnily enough, we had a long discussion about making a slow motion booth on here a few months ago.
Its buried inside the GX85 cinelike D hack thread but this links to the start of the conversation.
A lot of it may not be relevant as it was related to creating an unattended booth so it will be much simpler with operators involved.
What camera are you intending to use as I think there is a relatively simple solution in this case.

Yes, that's why I didn't even consider filters for so long. Its not specific to Firecrest, those are the reference Full Spectum NDs for EC though (how the Day conversion was made). It needs a minimum of a 2 stop ND to fully cancel out the reflection; the glass also needs to be parallel to the sensor plane, as one ND I have is slightly off axis, resulting in a diverging reflection.
Interestingly, the Alexa doesn't even have this problem, despite having CMOS, as best I can tell. The falloff is silk and there are no ghost reflections, as I believe the filter is 'integrated', and not a stack (that causes 'stair-stepping' falloff):

Amazing shots and love the grading! Just a question, what adapter did you use for the Pentax to GH5?

I'm excited to share my new travel film I shot over 4 days in Yellowstone in August. This was my first video on GH5. I learned allot on this shoot. I hope you sit back and watch on a decent screen with some good sound and enjoy some CinemaScope nature bliss. Cheers.
Filmed on the Panasonic GH5. Filmed in HLG and Cine D profiles. Colored with Film Convert. Anamorphic lens used were the Baby Hypergonar 1.75x, Bolex 8/19 1.5x and 16/32 1.5x Anamorphot. The Rectilux 3FF-s variable diopter and closeup lens.
Taking lens used Pentax 300mm DA f4, MeVis 35mm f1.6, Carl Zeiss 100mm f2.8 and Pen F 38mm f1.8 with wide angle attachment in front.

TurboRat reacted to kye in Simulating a Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter in post
Reasons that adding the effect in post is better:
It's free It works on all your cameras and lenses without adapters It works on all your past footage It works on all stock footage You can control the strength of it shot to shot You can control it within frame (you can have the nice skin smoothing effects on skin and not have it go nuts from a direct light-source also in frame) You can change the colour rendering like the Warm Pro Mist filters, or any other tint you care to make (even ones Tiffen doesn't offer) You can change the characteristics to emulate their other filters (Black Pro Mist is only one of the filters they offer - https://tiffen.com/diffusion/ ) You can even have hybrid effects like light sources glow green with a red outer ring around them, all adjustable to taste Real filters can have reflections under certain circumstances Reasons that adding the effect in post isn't better:
It doesn't work properly if any channel is clipped It doesn't work with any light-source that isn't in the frame It isn't an exact match to the look Things that aren't good reasons for doing anything:
That's how they do it in Hollywood

When you update, it restores the camera to factory settings, even removing my saved profiles - so only update if you have the time to reload your LUTs, reset custom buttons and put all your settings back to how you like it.

@kye regarding your post above, holy S*** i did NOT know any of that stuff about mr brainwash??? ill have to look into it...
that being said, historically secure art pieces do not involve "street art", which tends to be remembered for about 3 seconds. could banksy be an exception? sure, maybe
anyway, heres my "style" tip: BE RECOGNIZABLE
most important soundbite tip ever if youre a
    • fine artist
    • photographer
    • filmmaker
    • graphic designer
    • product designer
    • transportation designer
    • illustrator
    • sculptor
or ANNNYTHiiiinng else in the arts, your work needs to have a recognizable look, and it needs to be unified. this is how people identify you: your clients, fans, patrons, followers, etc.
this is way easier said than done, and does involve some risk taking, but if you dont take some risks, your work is doomed to be an imitation of whats been done already

Funny you mentioned it, I was just reading that we will have a huge Banksy expo in my city.
Sorry for interfering, but this is one of the greatest films of the century!
This is really a mockumentary, the character is created by Banksy himself and mocks the whole artistic world and the "gallery" driven artistic market. He was creating the whole project a few years before release, gossips/articles/art/websites e.t.c
How shallow is the DOF on this film, by the way?!?

Did you ever watch a documentary called Exit Through the Gift Shop?
It was a film made by Banksy about the guy who was making a documentary about him.  It is a ouroboros mind-fuck and spectacular in every way.  The reason that I mention it is that the guy wanted to be as famous as Banksy but without doing any of the work or getting good at art, so he did a bunch of paintings for a huge show and they were terrible, but he talked himself into thinking he was great, and then because he sunk so much money into it people believed he must be great and so his work sold for heaps of money.  In the end you're kind of left wondering WTF happened, what is good and what isn't, and how the F can anyone tell anyway.
Going for the money doesn't always end badly!

Yeah that’s actually what’s interesting about the SMC “K” versions... they’re the same lenses as the Takumars but in a K mount and they didn’t use Thorium glass, so the glass won’t yellow. The 28mm f/2 and your Takumar should match nicely. Two legendary lenses. If you pick up the Tak 85mm 1.8 or 1.9 or the 105mm... you’ll have a nice little set. The Fotodiox Pro M42 to EF adapters are really solid. So you can stack on your Viltrox.

Yeah will post some pics and try to create a vid using it. Just beating around the bush which cheap adaptor should I buy for m43 & sony. Or maybe just buy a pentax to Canon one since I also have a Viltrox speedbooster and a Sigma MC-11 adapter.
Most of the time when I see bargains, I try to overthink coz the item might be too good to be true. Then I rationalize that what Im buying is a bargain and buy it. Then after a few days, a cheaper version will pop up and then regret my decisions
Actually already have the Takumar 50mm 1.4. Are they the same? But still can't test it coz I'm thinking if I can just buy a Pentax to Canon adaptor, since I already have a Viltrox speedbooster for m43 and Sigma mc-11 for Sony, or separate M42 adaptors for M43 and Sony

Sweet!!! Get yourself the SMC Pentax K 50mm 1.4 to go with it... a nice lens as well.
Yeah, I shot that wide open at f/2.
I think you’re probably right on both accounts. He was moving and I added zero sharpening. ML Raw doesn’t have any Sharpening and I forgot to add some default. The one thing I do miss is the Midtone Detail function in Resolve which adds a little crunch to skin and takes away that smoothness but for a wide open, fast Nikkor ai-s lens, I was surprised by how sharp it is.
I’m in the process of putting together a teaser for my film. So stay tuned for a moving image.

That is a really nice shot..  even working in the landscape photographers S-curve from the waterline into it   and of course, ML makes the image quality look effortless!
Maybe you can process the footage in Resolve and get a LogC output..  Do they give you the Colour Space Transform OFX plugin in the free version?  If so, you could pull everything into the timeline, set whatever RAW settings on each shot you wanted, then in the Colour page, go to the Timeline node editor (instead of the Clip one) and using the transform plugin convert the shots to LogC before exporting all the shots as separate files?  If you output as a 12-bit codec (I don't think there are 14-bit codec options but maybe there are?) then you shouldn't lose too much colour info in the conversion.  I know that LogC can be quite flat as it's designed to hold a lot of stops of DR, so higher bit depths are preferred.
The only question in that workflow is what colour space to transform it from, because Canon RAW isn't a colour space in that list.  You seem to be pretty locked-on to the look you're going for, so maybe just cycle through the list and see what gets you closest?  I've graded ML RAW footage in Resolve and couldn't find any definitive answer on what to use, but there were a few options that looked about right.
In terms of having 'skillz', if someone can get the look they're after from any NLE with only a couple of changes, those are skills indeed!
Edit: just worked out CST means Colour Space Transform lol.   Sounds like you're on the path already

Impulse bought a Pentax 28mm f2 that’s supposed to be a repackaged Contax Zeiss ‘Hollywood’. Not the best decision, since I hear you can get one for 60bucks a few years before but now it goes for a thousand since its rarer nowadays. Saw one for 500  on ebay and snatched it. Here’s the eoshd writeup: https://www.eoshd.com/2013/07/60-pentax-lens-thats-actually-a-800-zeiss-by-designer-of-stanley-kubricks-nasa-glass/
