I find it hilarious that so many people were so defensive over Philip Bloom's post. I don't understand why people were rooting for vaporware. If these people took more than one second to look at the product and marketing, they would of understood the whole thing smelled of a pyramid scheme! I'm not even sad that they don't exist anymore.

The Nikon Z6 is already ahead of the Sony a7 mk3

And yeah, people don't give Nikon enough credit for what they've done! (both now and in the past. Remember, Nikon started off this entire HDSLR craze!)
    Overheating....

Y'all should be grateful Nikon even bothered to compete with anyone. Out of the Canikon duo, they are the only legacy company that threw all of its resources to mirrorless. They added IBIS, better EVF, 4k 30, 120FPS slow motion, 10-bit externally, possibly raw, they even built an adapter. If it wasn't for the X-T3, they would be in the same league as the A7iii. People pine over the EOS R, but they don't give a flying spaghetti monster of reaching their potential at that price point. Canon is crippled city!

The C100 still produces great looking images, both in it's own merits as well as compared to newer gear. Very tempted by the used prices these days. What keeps me away is that my R also has a really nice C-log image but FF with stabilization and soon built in variable ND. Would love to have the XPRs though.

I can guarantee you the pros that invest in a 1DX2 DGAF about DXO sensor ranking. A7R2 is a high MP landscape camera. Apple & oranges.
Canon's strength imo is in their top glass, ecosystem, ergonomics, color science, reliability etc.
They develop everything in-house which means a slower camera refresh rate than the competition (who all buy their sensors from sony and outsource various parts).
But 1DX2 is still the only FF camera that shoots DCI 4K60p (albeit at APS-H) and was the first hybrid to do no crop FF FHD 120fps (beating Sony to the punch).
Even if the Pro R model were to recycle 1DX2 sensor/specs it would still be a pretty solid release even for 2019 standards.
Canon however have heavily hinted towards a new sensor (as well as confirmed IBIS) so I expect the pro model to well surpass 1DX2..
EOS R / RP were clearly rushed and had to recycle 5D4/6D2 sensor tech. I expect Pro R model out by 2020 alongside 1DX3 just in time for Tokyo Olympics.

$1300 for a FF stills & Super35 4K video cam with CLog & DPAF sounds like a pretty sweet deal if true.
That totally undercuts the FF competition, and even XT3 on price alone.
Seems very unlike Canon to me, but maybe EOS R / RF lenses aren’t selling enough and with their recent expectation of the market shrinking substantially they’ve decided to get super aggressive in attempt to get max people on board their new system ?

I like to do lock off shots mostly.  Pans and tilts maybe 10% of the time.  What do pans and tilts really show you that you can't say with a well composed shot and/or edited montage, honestly?  When shooting with a tripod I enjoy framing, hitting the red button, and taking my hands away from the camera.
If anyone else uses this style too, consider Manf. sticks with a "leveling center" included.  From there, you can get whatever head you prefer.  I got cheap 701 HDV's, which are very gnarly for moves, but they're small and work well enough for me.  This sort of set up gives you the option of quick bowl-type-leveling and compact breakdown.  It's a "video" tripod that'll rise to 6' that disassembles and breaks down into enough compactness that I've been able to do carry-on with ALL my gear.
It's not the most smooth video shooting system --which you COULD easily purchase elsewhere, but the functionality and break-down for excursions are more important to me.
I've traveled to over 50 countries with equipment and this is what I ultimately settled on, and was, more or less, content with.  (It doesn't have enough mass for stable long lens shots during windy days)  If you want to avoid sending gear through checked baggage, it's a solution.

Yeah the GH5s particularly can become almost a FF camera. I guess the crops applies to the PK4, Kinefinity 4K, and the Z Cam E2 also. I sure would like to have one. But wow so many good cameras out now. Tough choices.

Thought this might be able to be my next vlogging camera, as with the Sony 20mm pancake it could be a pretty sweet compact setup. I can even overlook the selfie screen / hotshoe clashing, but no IBIS??
Sorry, the cheaper Panasonic G85 still reigns supreme in my desires to by my next vlogging camera.

I had a go at the EOS R today. Took a while to wrap my head around it and get it fully setup the way I liked but was a happy camper after that.
I'm happy to report the 1080p is a lot sharper then 5D3/5D4 (almost C100 sharp) especially with the awesome RF lenses (the 50mm 1.2 RF is crazy btw).
4K has poor RS.. but the ALL-I codec produces pretty thick quality files with nice motion. C-log looks really good too (with classic EOS cinema & C200 color matrix options).
Movie IS coupled to the bi-directional lens IS was really steady.
Stuck my 35mm 1.4L via adapter and was pretty much close to native performance..
All in all i'm pretty pleased/impressed by the camera (despite its obvious limitations) and look forward to trying it out further once I acquire it next week.
PS: i'm having trouble reading the 4K MP4 files inside Davinci/FCPX (getting media offline error) anyone know what that's about??

If you are referring to me JonPais, then thanks for even having any bit of trust in my hands on experience! I do love all of the tech that is coming out and haven't been much into the DSLR/Mirrorless game for long. I am a fan of paying full boat for something that is definitely priced appropriately! I loved and owned the a6500 when it came out, but the shortcomings were too much for me. I sold my nikon d7000 cause the video was mush. Sold my first 5D mkii within 48 hours (in 2017) because the video was soft. Sold the XT2 twice and X-H1 once because the video was fantastic and SOOC pics were great, but for video there were too many compromises. Battery life, the 4gb file , and you needed the battery grip. Sold the c100 mki because there was no 60P and the LCD was subpar (compared to the mkii).
The a7iii checked many of the boxes with IBIS, but to me the biggest letdown was the LCD and EVF.  I've had hands on with the Z7 (which felt really great holding it in your hand), X-T3 (which provides very lovely images and AF and fantastic photography) is definitely worth the cash (mine gets here on Wednesday), the EOS R while lovely, the price is too high $2,300 for a camera that does 720P 120fps in 2018 is really sad. Will it dropping to $1,600 making more palatable? Maybe, but you can pick up an a6300 or a6500 for $6-$900 used and get better 1080p, pick up a GH5 for $1,300 used. You'll still get better slowmotion with those cameras and not overpay! I would pay $1,200 for a 6Dmkii because it's a good camera that is wx resistance and that EF mount allow you to buy some great third party glass like the tamron 15-30 2.8 with VC for less than $1,200 used! The EF mount is very flexible and you have access to a lot of great glass. A lot of choices and it's great to be a visual creator in 2018!
