Not sure about Fuji as they are already doing really well in the APSC camp, at a very low price point.

But it will definitely give Sony something to think about and hopefully Canon.

I have a feeling both Sony and Canon have something in the works though.

There of course are big advantages to shooting with an URSA. If the Panasonic delivers similar dynamic range though for most projects the S1H will deliver a cleaner, more detailed image. With 10 bit 422 you'll be able to do more with color than most people need.

Even with my Fuji XT3 I am finding when I go to edit I am rarely ever thinking I wish I had more dynamic range or that there isn't enough color information. Low light is the one area where the Fuji does suffer compared to full frame.

Wonder how well adapted glass works. If I was going for the S1 I'd probably go the speedbooster route to get that medium format look.

Not going to lie if it had built in ND's it would go right to the top of my going to buy list. Even without it though the S1 is attractive and the S1H even more so.

For me its to the point where cameras are so good and affordable its simply tough to make something that's attractive anymore. You can get a S35 camera that shoots 4k 10 bit up to 60p with good auto focus for 1k.

This new Panasonic camera is very significant though. Full frame 10 bit 422(assuming) 4k 60p is huge. 6k recording full frame is also huge, I think people will love that.
The question is of course will Sony put out something that beats it and with their own affordable lens line up and amazing auto focus.

The next fuji camera could be even more killer as well.

The lens issue is the real killer for those who don't have 8k to spend on new gear. Though for those adapting glass that will be a non issue.

Throw on a Ninja V and you got a good setup. I am currently holding off on buying a cinema camera as the prices just keep dropping on everything.

    Hey everyone.
I am picking up a P4K next week and I am using the Sigma1.8 Zooms. I plan on using the glass full manual, but the aperture is controlled electronically. I really do not want to spend 650$ on a Metabones, as I am never using the AF, but still need the electronic connects.
    What does everyone recommend?

Seems like Canon or Nikon could just find a way to make mirrorless cameras using their old mounts.

I think hybrid cameras are definitely more suited to narrative film making. If you got them on sticks, or a gimbal or dolly they work perfectly. Not so much for handheld. That said I am really impressed with what I can get from the XT3 plus OIS 18-55. For B-roll its almost an ideal setup.

I think for anything critical I want a 1st AC focus pulling. That said if I am going solo switching between AF and manual focus is just a matter of hitting a button. For certain shots you can't go wrong with AF.

Fuji GF lenses of course. Some full frame vintage lenses will also cover medium format, like minolta.

Well a person could just pick and choose all feel good stories and that is OK. Nothing wrong with that. But that doesn't reflect real life, at least not as a TV stations looks at it. I guess you could just follow what you are into to and be happy. Might not kick your dog or beat your wife, or the opposite when you get home lol.

    That makes sense.

There is definitely different types of activism videos one can make. Take someone like Nas daily, which is pretty much all positive stuff.

Shot this one with my X-T3 in April. I was happy with my Samsung NX1, but X-T3 is way better (except battery and grip). Filmed with anamorphic lens Bolex Moller 16/32/1.5x.

Still happy with my pocket. The ability to just shoot in prores LT and get small files as well as RAW if I want it is great. Its nice that the RAW can just be put right in Desolve and edits like butter.

The XT3 and XT30 are great though. Eterna is really nice and of course the 10 bit Flog on the XT3 is just really easy to work with.

Regardless of the softness I still love the BRAW. Wish they'd put it in the Ursa Mini. The ability to shoot low bitrate 12 bit is awesome.

Wheelchair or cart plus gimbal and post stabilization. As long as the ground you are shooting on is decent you'll get dolly like shots that way.

Otherwise not sure of an easier way other than a real dolly. Obviously a slider can work for certain shots though.

Lots of college degrees aren't worth much. Really just have to pick a lucrative field or be content barely getting by doing something you love or actually want to do.

The whole college situation in the US(can't speak for the rest of the world) is a racket. I am not saying that degrees are worthless, but the system in place is terrible.

I like it a lot. A lot of people are dismissing it in the comments. I think in terms of glare being able to tilt is valuable. Monitors are cool but for certain applications the less bulk the better.

HLG has smoother tonal transitions. Some claim it has more dynamic range as well.

From what I've seen its a bit harder to grade than Vlog. However you can always use a transform LUT like the Leeming Lut One.

Its definitely a good option if you'd rather not pay for Vlog.

Just wanted to post this up here in remembrance of my faithful friend Hildy (my Hildoogans). It's probably not shot well and I'm sure the dynamic range is poor,... but I'll miss her anyway. She kept me company and was a good soul. She gave all the love she could to us and she was a beloved member of our family. We will always miss you Hildy.
