not completely diy, i have had a small rig for awhile i also have an elmoscope anamorphic lens plus some other bits and pieces, i'm looking to intergrate everything together in a nice robust package without the use of duct tape and chewing gum

i dont think you have made a bad buy its looks like you haven't bought a complete lens. As it looks to me like your missing the another lens that would screw into the back of the ultrastrar and then mount to the projector. As i understand it the rear lens is not required for shooting anamorphic video on an a7. I think the normal procedure is to buy a lens clamp that fits the back of your ultrastar and then mount that to your taking lens or whichever lens you have on the front of your camera. you should probably start with a lens around 85mm in focal length as that shouldn't vignette. not sure what the crop factor is on an a7 so can experiment to see how wide you can go before it vignettes. Good luck.
if you still get stuck post another message

is there anyone use his/her bm for street "photography" ? Since I don't want to carry another camera, I shoot quite a bit at low shutter angle and just grab still frame from it. The resolution works quite well for me since instagram is my main publishing platform

sounds like a clever marketing ploy, they mention only the filter stack of the sensor, new optics and compatibility only with the bmp4k. I guess somewhere, there is a room filled, with a bunch of men in little white coats they need to feed. With a new camera on the scene there is no better way of generating a new niche market than preying on peoples perceived weaknesses of a particular design. we already know that the XL 0.64x, 0.71x work fine on the bmp4k. Seems to me their pushing the exclusivity thing abit ( you have the best new 4k camera now go buy the best new 4k speed booster that incidentally only works on the bmp4k. because you owe it to yourself, blah blah blah )
i have heard that some earlier bm cameras had an issue with filter stack thickness, but i would think bm would have sorted it out by now, if they hadn't, we would have heard of it by now on the forums. if the filter stack is an issue with the XL 0.64x or the ULTRA 0.71x why isn't an issue with any lenses we attach to the front of the camera ? (maybe my logic is flawed if i'm wrong feel free to enlighten me ) i think metabones is grasping at straws by bringing that up. Percentage wise, how much better can it be ? I think the bmp4k has slightly bigger sensor from the original if i remember the stats correctly (which is where the optimized optics come in i presume ) perhaps they have added some contacts for added functionality with the bmp4k or an electronic nd filter but thats some pretty wild speculation on my part. I don't have a speed booster yet so be interesting to see how things develop. if the new speed booster is 10%, 20% better i'll buy one. Otherwise i'll probably buy a cheap XL 0.64x, 0.71x that's recently found its way to ebay ?

i doubt it,
i think only andrew reid could delete or lock a topic. besides you can always block someone if you want too, not sure if that stops their post from showing in threads you read however.
perhaps its time for us to prove we're the better men, as a certain x-man would say and move on.

What goes around comes around. I think a tiny little thread to balance the thousands and thousands of trolls and paid commenters is ok. It can be a place for us camera agnostics to ventilate a little frustration

VERSION 1.2 RELEASED
Version 1.2 of 3C has been released into the Play store today.
It adds support for the Blackberry KeyOne/Key2 devices for controlling the camera from the integrated physical keyboard as well as the touch screen.
The scan process has also been enhanced to allow filtering of device names for easier camera selection when 3C is used in environments that have large number of Bluetooth LE devices active.

i have very specific size requirements, which is why i was interested in these particular ones from england. and the fact they were 2nd hand which should have made for a good deal. God save the queen and all, but im thinking it will be awhile before i buy from england again.

i suspect you could throw a piece of broken glass in font of the bmp4k and the footage would still look good
honestly between you and mercer and the others posting lens samples, i dont think anyone can go wrong with the glass thats available, be it vintage or new. Of course some glass will be better suited to some projects more so than others. To some extent i think its how you use or exploit those lens traits that will define a video and whether people find it filmic or not

Here are the screenshots of it in action today in a city centre.
First scan shows everyone's Fitbits etc as well as the camera.
You now click on Search List and enter the filter term you want (I chose "Camera")
And then it filters all of the other devices out.
You could choose "4K" or whatever but I decided against a default in case people have renamed their cameras.

Well i have been shopping online... bought an interesting (lens) which came to my attention while i was looking at something else and i'm bidding on another, the Olympus 15mm body cap lens. i watched some youtubes on it and it seems a little quirky perhaps but at least i'll always have a lens on the front till i find something else and its pretty cheap. btw kye this is all your fault
bought and installed btm's app, had some teething issues with my oppo r11, however btm has since sorted me out and it now works. So if you have an oppo r11 it may prove helpful to turn on location services when you turn on bluetooth le. once your paired you can open the ctek app scan for your camera, when the camera is found you can highlight the camera and attempt to connect to it. you might get an error like i do, so wait a few moments and try to connect again.. i have to press the connect button a couple of times and then it will connect
btx the fifth and last image is the first error message i was getting maybe it will help you with further trouble shooting

leslie reacted to KnightsFan in Framerate
You should shoot with your distribution frame rate in mind. If you are shooting for PAL televisions, then you should shoot in 25 fps for normal motion. If you want 2x slow motion, shoot in 50 and conform to 25. If you want 2.3976x slow motion, shoot in 59.94 and conform to 25, etc. (I know you aren't talking about slow motion, I just mention it to be clearer)
Essentially, at the beginning of an edit you will pick a timeline framerate to edit in, based on artistic choice or the distribution requirements. Any file that is NOT at the timeline framerate will need to be interpolated to some extent to play back at normal speed. Mixing any two frame rates that are not exact multiples of each other will result in artifacts, though there are ways to mitigate those problems with advanced interpolation algorithms. So you shouldn't mix 23.976 and 59.94. If you have a 23.976 timeline, the 59.94 footage will need to be modified to show 2.5 video frames per timeline frame. You can't show .5 frames, so yoy have to do some sort of frame blending or interpolation, which introduces artifacts. Depending on the image content, the artifacts might not be a problem at all.
The same would apply for putting 23.976 footage on a 29.97 timeline, or any other combination of formats.
The only way to avoid all artifacts completely is to shoot at exactly the frame rate you will use on the timeline and in the final deliverable, or conform the footage for slow/fast motion.

thanks that was rather informative. i didn't know that the dof changed as well. maybe i half knew but didn't really connect the dots before now. buying a bmp4k with a different mount is certainly proving to be a learning experience ?

All lenses are comparable in focal length, but because different sensors are different sizes then the FOV you get will differ with a given focal length.
