  1. I think the initial selling point was that the price of entry was significantly lower than alternatives of the time. Lower price plus better specs will always get people's attention. I was always turned off by their proprietary bullshit though. Not being able to just use my own stuff just always rubbed me the wrong way. Any company that tries to exert that much control over their paying customers should be looked at with suspicion.
  2. They kind of need to be more aggressive with their pricing. But as long as they make everything proprietary, it's not a business model that will work moving forward. Frankly I'm surprised it was ever a successful business model.
  3. You've literally been spending the last day capping on it and bashing it, while arguing with people that are interested in it. That's not the behavior of someone that couldn't care less. Move on dude.
  4. It concerns me how upset you are about this camera. We get it. Move on.
  5. QC can be an issue, particularly on early units. My original Pocket had issues, but they replaced it with a brand new one so I couldn't really complain. I've heard fewer complaints about the Ursa cameras, but heard complaints about the Pocket 4K and 6K, with scratched screens, dust on the sensor, etc. on "brand new" units. I think those issues get resolved though.
  6. Didn't Tascam release something like this, but overseas, with the American version lacking the recording function, because of patents?
  7. This x100. Their quality control has been suspect in the past. But otherwise this is a huge release.
  8. I think on a personal level I'd like both of them. And I can't hate, they've been very successful doing what they're doing. That lake side video though that birthed the Toneh moniker, it was just too much. I think you can learn a lot even from non-experts, sometimes even more than you can from experts, because you see genuine trial and error. But that video at the lake, where most of his head was cut off and you couldn't see a thing behind him because BLURRY BACKGROUND! was insane.
  9. That vimeo clip looks stunning. 12K still is overkill for right now, but unless it's a POS, that's a camera that will be future proof for a long, long while at a very good price.
  10. No, but if I had $10k and needed a cinema camera it'd probably be my leading choice, given the versatility. You seem quite angry at a company releasing a camera that clearly isn't marketed for you. Not every camera is going to be geared to you and me. My guess is that an 8K camera will be released relatively soon, in a much more competitive price range.
  11. That's good then man, buy the C200 instead. I'd never use AF for such work, too risky.
  12. I've never used AF for interviews, even when using cameras that have good AF, so I can't really relate to that need.
  13. How is a C200 or C300 a better tool for stock footage and interviews?
  14. For someone like @Neumann Films I can imagine 12K is very tempting/useful for his stock footage work. Basically makes it future proof for years and years to come.
  15. The MacBook Pro being able to play back 12K BRAW was impressive, too. Resolve being fleshed out into a full editing suite might be one of the most brilliant moves they have done, long term.
  16. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not every camera is going to be geared towards us brother
  17. I don't see the point of 12k personally right now, but when you compare it to other cameras in that price range, yes, $10k for a 12k camera is a bargain. You're not going to find anything like it in that price range.
  18. It is, but it's in the range of a lot of people that never would've dreamed of being able to get 8K raw, let alone 12k.
  19. Is Grant OK? His left shoulder is having spasms.
  20. If it's another Pocket variation they NEED to use a bigger battery or I'm not interested. I loathe rigging up an external battery solution, I did it with the original Pocket and never again.
  21. Ton1eh kills me every time. The last video of theirs that I watched was that one that birthed "Toneh." couldn't take him seriously after that one.
  22. 12 MP is more than enough for 4x6 prints and web publishing/social media. Not saying it'd be my first choice and I don't think many would be using the A7siii for serious photography, but it's doable for some things.
  23. The people defending Canon seem to have a problem with people expecting the bare minimum from a camera. No one expected unlimited 8K recording (I'm not sure why this was brought up in a post about the R6 but OK.) Everyone expected some limitations on such a feature, but they didn't think it'd be "hey, you can record for 20 minutes in *70 degree* weather, but then you'll need to let it cool down for 20 minutes to be able to record for another 5 minutes" or whatever the numbers are. Why didn't any of us expect that? Because it's not practical! And if a company knows there's that big of an issue, one should expect they'd do more to remedy it BEFORE releasing it to consumers. If you can't match the functionality of a 3 and a half year old GH5 then what are you doing? And full frame 4K without a crop isn't an excuse. Asking for a camera that doesn't overheat isn't unreasonable.
