  1. Really? My experience with Canon cameras is limited. Sorry if I spread misinfo, just assumed he was turning it off and on to show it has it.
  2. It's wild how Canon and Sony have seemingly switched places.
  3. My bad, it was histogram. About 5 minutes in. https://youtu.be/PvU4WNb6-J4
  4. Affinity Photo is decent, but ultimately I switched back to Photoshop because it was just easier and more convenient.
  5. In Vermont the R5 would be 4132.94 with sales tax (6%). Most states have a sales tax of 4-7%, though a couple have no sales tax.
  6. Correct. I'll often go to New Hampshire for larger purchases to save on taxes, since it has so sales tax.
  7. I'm sure it's a lovely lens but Sigma and Tamron are putting out just as good lenses for a lot less. Hard to justify paying that much.
  8. How does the situation with Olympus impact Panasonic's commitment to M43? Is there a reason why they've stuck with DFD for auto focus in video, even as competitors have moved away from it? Do they plan to continue to have two branches of the GH series moving ahead?
  9. I don't know that you're going to be able to do much better than a lav into a recorder under those circumstances. If they were sitting in a public place or something, you'd be able to figure out places to hide it, like in a plant or something, but it sounds like your subjects will be moving? Maybe some kind of stereo mic? But the background noise might make that difficult?
  10. Why the hell haven't we all been using them then?!
  11. Is there a back up in the event something happens and the picture/video doesn't transfer?
  12. I don't know that there will ever be a way for them to remove the lag from HDMI completely. It's a consumer connection, you know? It just wasn't designed to be used the way we're using it. It'd be great if I'm wrong though!
  13. I hope for the best, but people are way too optimistic. There HAS to be a catch. It's Canon!
  14. Honestly if you can't handle a little lag when using an external monitor you probably shouldn't be using anything with an HDMI out because there will always be a little lag, no matter the recorder / monitor. Either learn to live with it or use a camera with SDI out. I film a lot of action stuff, so I only use an external monitor for interviews / corporate / commercial work to nail focus and see things on a larger screen. I'd never use a monitor for my wrestling or other sports work.
  15. I think it depends on what program you use to edit, but most people I know transcode it to ProRes for editing. Fuji OIS is decent, but you're not going to get Panasonic level stability. It's really hard to explain how good Panasonic stabilization is, you need to kind of experience it. It changed how I filmed.
  16. I busted out the GX85 today for personal use. I love it so much 🙂
  17. It's hard to judge how big it is from pictures since you have nothing to compare it to but that seems pretty slimmed down for a camera that's supposed to be extremely powerful and should require quite a bit of processing power. Was expecting something along the lines of the S1H.
  18. Never thought to share this but I've been using these with cheap clamp lights to add color to venues and backgrounds for a while. They're under $4US, you can't really beat that.
