  1. The problem with mounting things on the top, is it limits going into undersling mode, or stops the camera from looking/tilting up. So low angles would be harder to achieve. The clearance at best of time is barely 1cm. As with all things, it’s a viable option depending on how, what and where you’re shooting.
  2. I just tried out Canon 24-105 f4 on the Weebill and to my surprise, it balances (when adding extra weights onto the roll arm) and there's no restricted movement. and the gimbal holds up very well. The reason I mention it is because the similarly sized, but heavier Sigma 18-35 cannot balance as the camera knocks on the back motor, which restricts movement far too much. I assume that if the 24-105 balances, so can the 24-70. It's such a shame added weights are essential for this gimbal/camera setup, and depending on your lens you need more or less weight. For me and my uses, that's not really an issue, but it will certainly put a lot of people off buying it.
  3. Here's a couple screen grabs of things I filming today. I shot in ProRes LT, because it's for 1080i broadcast. I'm over the moon every time I look at the stuff I've filmed with this camera. It always looks fantastic. These are improv actors at Comicon, so I had no control over the lighting, or over the actors - just filmed them as I saw them. Viltrox booster with Sigma 18-35.
  4. Not quite the 300 off that op wanted, but €200 off the xt3 over here. Including battery grip https://www.kamera-express.nl/product/12269284/fujifilm-x-t3-body-zilver-vg-xt3-batterij-handgrip 150 off body only. https://www.kamera-express.nl/product/12269181/fujifilm-x-t3-body-zwart
  5. It's not supported, and as far as I know, it's not supported on any gimbal. The camera controls don't work via USB, so it can't be supported unless the gimbal has bluetooth controls as well. Even the focus on the Ronin S doesn't work with the P4k - until they release the mechanical system. I was just showing that the camera can balance on the Weebill and the gimbal isn't 'too light' for the camera, as you said it was. Not trying to argue, just correcting information that I thought was incorrect. I'm extremely happy that the light camera works on the light gimbal, and when the follow focus is available in my country, I'll be even happier
  6. Not true. Here's my test with it. Realtime from 2:10
  7. Well, it doesn't balance out the box, you need to add weights, but that's not a huge issue. I made a weight by taping things to the arm until it balanced, weight it all and then went to the hardware store and bought the smallest, thing I could that weighed around the same. Now I just use velcro to put it on quickly and easily. Works like a charm and it's actually easier to fine tune the balance as you can move it up and down the arm. For me, this is a great solution and I don't mind at all. Others might find it a turn off. Once it's balanced, it's great fun to use, and so far I've always been happy with the results. The rest is all personal preferences. For example, the Sigma 18-35 1.4 is a long and heavy lens. To centre the weight of the camera, you have to move it so far back on the mounting plate that it ends up on the back motor. So you can't use this set up despite it being within the weight limits. That's a shame. But the fact the gimbal is small enough for that to happen is a big reason for many people to buy it. It fits in my bag without a problem. So if you want to use long heavy lenses, you're going to be disappointed. If you're using short or light though, it's fantastic. My favourite so far to use is the nifty fifty, but due to its field of view, it's more susceptible to showing shakes than a 10mm lens would. I'm not a fan of those ultra wide shots, and the shakes I'm getting don't seem to be too distracting. Perhaps the Sigma 30mm is a happy medium, but it's also makes the light gimbal and the light camera heavy on the arms. Again, this all depends on what you want out of the gimbal. As for wobble. I'll let you judge that for yourself. For me, it's more than acceptable, especially if you're filming slowmo or adding a touch of stabilisation in post. This clip was shot at 48fps in DCI ProRes LT with the 50mm at f4. The first half is played at 24fps and then after is the same edit played back in real time (real time at 2:09). I'm filming an event this weekend solely with the P4k, and plan on using the gimbal for close to all of my Broll shots. Due to the how it'll be distributed, I will be shooting slowmotion, but will try to chop and change between 30 and 50mm to get a nice, fair comparison of the two. If I can I'll upload some of the footage, but either way I'll report back on how it was to work with for an extended period.
  8. I don't really understand what your asking me to comment on. I don't use the included lens support because it doesn't reach my lenses, and I don't want to stuff the gap with tissue haha. Other than that, he balanced it differently to me. I always adjust forward/back first, then side to side. He seemed to be trying to do both at the same time, or swapping between them. I think his results are shakier than mine, but I couldn't say why. Maybe his arms are too loose? Maybe not loose enough? It seems to wobble as he steps, but it looks like he's trying to step carefully and softly. I'm uploading more of what I shot the other day, of my wife in the woods. It's nothing overly special, but there's a mix of stationary and walking shots. It also has me walking forwards and me walking backwards, and even sideways. But I've got to leave in a minute, so hopefully I can add it to this post when it's up. If you'd like to know something more specific let me know.
  9. https://tilta.com/shop/g2x-nano-black-friday-bundle/ Currently still pre-order and shipping to US and Canada only.
  10. That second shot looks like a grab from Wes Anderson's 'Fastastic Mr. Fox' or somekind of stopmotion movie. Love it.
  11. Not quite an XT3, but the XT20 is €550 and XT100 is €400 this weekend. Which seems great if you’re looking more photo oriented cameras.
  12. And that's one of them - the higher capacity one. Save people watching a whole video just to find out what battery he's using
  13. This is what he's using as a battey: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MF70BPU/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=makeartnow055-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00MF70BPU&linkId=903f3497f9fc621aa805245ad3b5c1db
  14. Here's another quick test with the Weebill. This time with the nifty fifty.
  15. @ironfilm while that's true, if they're using a wired lav into a zoom, then you can leave the zoom with the talent. Depending on the model, they can put it in their pocket, or if sitting down, have it on the floor. That way, it's essentially the same as wireless - Although monitoring will be an issue. If they film like that though, you could go with the Tascam DR10. Same setup, but with a smaller, pocketable recorder.
  16. I know. To download the studio version I need my serial number. Do I need to keep it handy and download that version, or will the free version pick up my info when I install it and 'unlock' more stuff? EDIT: On further inspection, there's a small 'Download Only' option for the studio version. So to answer my own question - no you don't need to keep the serial handy.
  17. Cool, so I just need to input my serial number every time they update it? Or can I download the Free version off the website, and it'll use the serial number from the version installed on my computer?
  18. They cover shipping to and from for repairs. That's a pretty strange reason to not buy a camera.
  19. From this I gather that BMD are focusing on bringing Braw to the P4K now that it's out of Beta, but they're (or this guy at least) is still unsure of when it'll be ready. It will be the next camera to support it though. On a side note - what's the easiest way to update Resovle? Download, uninstall and reinstall? I can't find any update buttons.
  20. No electronic controls at all. Maybe that'll change in the future, but it's not something I'm all that interesting in personally. If your using a phone with the gimbal, I suppose you could get a BMD app and use that to start/stop or adjust your settings. I just used the touchscreen on the camera to set everything and trigger recording.
  21. Not at all. In fact today I bought a smaller bag so I could take this out on a day trip with the family.
  22. https://www.proav.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=weebill Standard - Creator - Master Package. I didn't want/need the other stuff in the packages, and like I say, they're not yet available here, so I just bought that standard to use for now and will get the follow focus down the line. Test video will be live here when YouTube are ready: Download the original files here (10gb): https://mega.nz/#F!TA8URCjb!v3AOrZUdFOtpNDmTjI5XUw We're going to do another session tonight, turn the mics down, close the aperture and boost the ISO.
  23. Making an export now. I don't see any issues. For my setup, with the Sigma 30mm 1.4 I need to add 250g onto the arm to balance it out. That may or may not be a problem for some. A lighter lens will probably need less weight. I've never used any other gimbal, and haven't put a smaller camera on this, but my results are very smooth and I can definitely for see myself using it professionally. The gimbal comes in 3 packages, at varying prices, but for some reason in Holland I can only buy it at the most basic, so the FF was not included in my kit.
  24. I love it. If you don't mind adding weights onto the arm to counter balance, it's great. The only other grievance I have is being unable to focus while filming, but that's the same issue with every gimbal, and can be remedied once their follow focus becomes available. I can't find it anywhere, but the product name is 'CMF-04' If someone can find a seller, please let me know. I don't have a Vimeo account and the free version only allows 500mb uploads. For me that defeats the point of making the 422 file available for download. I'll do my own grade on this shot and put it on YouTube though if you like. Then at least you can see how smooth it is. I'll post when it's up.
  25. Oh forgot to say. My above test was shot with the gimbal in POV mode, which allows you to get up to 45 degree tilts. As far as I can tell, no other modes allow tilts.
