  1. JVCs new camera shoots ProRes internal. They just need to cut the lens off and put a mount on and they’d have a winner. The problem is, it’s JVC and whatever they do, their cameras will never be the talk of the town no matter how good they actually are. How many LS300s sold compared to FS5? Even when they were giving you a Atomos Inferno in the package.
  2. @TurboRat and @MattH - I don't have that lens, but I have the Canon 10mm that I've hacked (literally) to work with the Viltrox speedbooster. I imagine this give a similar field of view - although it will be slightly narrower. I'll happily do some tests for you, but can only get to f3.5ish with the booster. If that's helpful, let me know what formats you'd want tested and I'll upload some stuff. For a quick sample, here's a grab I just took at it's widest. Handy button that frame grab one ? 3. Stupid or genius? No (little) vignette until around f8. I plan on taking the camera for a walk with a few of my favorite lenses. I’ll take this little chap along and share some clips. Let me know if you’d like anything specific tested out.
  4. The camera had been off at least 20 minutes before I tried to take it out - I'll report back the next time I use this battery (tomorrow) I found the LUTs locally, for those without Resolve already, or who want to grab them without diving into folders, you can get them here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5b3aw8i1dkf8shj/AACnnkI2JfrCVUbMhyjGuSwia?dl=0 For anyone wondering, the Ninja Star works like a dream with this camera. When I press record on the P4K, the Star also starts recording. That's not happened for me with any other camera since I bought it. Apparently it's a known issue, but the product is too old for Atomos to update. Looks like BM did it for them. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but recording on the P4K at 4096x2160 means the Star records a file that's 1920x1062.
  5. Well, strangely, I just put all my batteries in (not at the same time) and now none of them get stuck, even the one that's scratched up from when I tried to get it out last time. That one is Digibuddy though, for anyone wondering. So far, I'm really liking the footage, but it's just random shots around the house. Will do more extensive testing tomorrow.
  6. My 3rd party batteries get stuck, but not the one that came with the camera. I'm going to make a little grip on them so I can get them out a little easier. Battery door doesn't open accidentally though. On that subject, does anyone know somewhere in Europe stocking the Blackmagic Pocket Camera DC Cable Pack? I have some Vmounts I can put to good use. Also, does anyone know if it's possible to download the Extended Video LUT? I know its in Resolve, but it'd be nice to be able to use it in Premiere/Encoder for encoding queues etc.
  7. Yes very sure. You can only charge through the USBc but there is a locking power socket right next to it for alternative battery options.
  8. You can't power the camera through the USB, only charge the battery when the camera is off. there is another power socket to run the camera off the mains or Vmount etc. Powering the camera externally and recording to a USBc drive is not a problem. All the Ursa cameras have even bigger holes on the top and bottom. I've seen them used in the desert to film rhinos. I don't think that will be an issue at all. Only if you want to record uncompressed RAW, I think you can do 4:1. Either way, as soon as Braw hits this cam, that's not an issue anymore.
  9. you are right, the cameras you mention will mostly do the job, and they'll do it very well, but the P4k is cheaper if you go by body only prices - any extras you want to add is up to you. Here's a few extra things that I'm excited about that the other cameras don't have: Built in audio options Timecode Fantastic low light performance Flexibility - Big rig or handheld (make a blockbuster or blend in with the tourists and shoot without permission - I know this is also true for the other cameras, but it seems more accessible with the P4k with it's battery/power options) Uncluttered user experience Free Resolve Braw will be unbelievable when it reaches the P4k
  10. I don't think this is the right camera for you.
  11. This looks like the best one yet with that grip thing on the corner (not sure what they're called, but it's very easy to mount stuff onto) That threw me for a minute. but I guess its a flippable hard shell screen protector haha
  12. @mercer Has anyone given you the 1080p tests you were looking for a while ago? If all goes to plan, my camera arrives tomorrow, so I'll happily share some OG files. RAW, ProRes, Film, Video, Extended, 24/25/30/50/60/120 you name it. I'm also going to take it for a walk on Wednesday (hopefully) so will share a bunch of footage and audio samples then too. If anyone else would like something specific - apart from water testing - let me know and I'll do my best.
  13. You could maybe use something like Dropbox - not sure how the streaming is nowadays, but original file downloads couldn't be easier. Seems like a happy medium between a streaming service and hosting yourself. Of course, you'd lose the ability for people to stumble on your videos as easily. YouTube only has ads if you put up content you don't have permission to use. If you use AudioNetwork or any service like that, they put ads on until you send a dispute, then a day later, they take their paws off that upload.
  14. That's amazing how much info there is there. When I opened the DNG I laughed at how bright it was. I just got my order confirmation, I should receive it this week - so pumped.
  15. Discounts on Smallrig cages: https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-cage-for-blackmagic-design-pocket-cinema-camera-4k-2203.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw3qDeBRBkEiwAsqeO7lM4e2S4JqSYHeblhG5haph-_cbaIi_QtDrnfTE9K04kJn09neqBBhoCUnUQAvD_BwE $155 for Cage, handle, T5 holder and HDMI/USB-C clamps. Seems pretty good to me - If only I had a camera to put it on.
  16. I read that as you telling us this info - but I guess it was just copy/paste the description from the original uploader. Either way, nice video whoever made it ?
  17. Did you find it 3 pages back when @Snuff - who made it - shared it? ? It is nice though, so don't mind seeing it again.
  18. To be fair. That truck is the result of stacking a number of photos, all with different exposures, to get the HDR effect. If you think the P4K frame looks like that, it is a compliment as 1 frame from this camera holds a comparable amount of info / dr as multiple frames from another camera. How you use that much info is up to you.
  19. This doesn’t really give much away, but if I didn’t know, I wouldn’t have guessed they used a phone.
  20. I heard their working on it. Until the camera is widely available though, I don’t think there will be any updates.
  21. I mean, the thread title has Cinema Camera in it. It doesn’t say the price range or hybrid segment. Personally I’m not here to compare this to any other camera, just to evaluate how well it does this things it promises to do. It doesn’t promise to have ibis, af or take high quality stills so there’s little point in comparing those elements to cameras that do, of course they’ll win. Comparing it’s low light, clipping, audio etc is much more important. Rambling on about lack of features it never even hinted at having is almost as pointless and insightful as repeating the fact that it doesn’t fit in your pocket.
  22. But it can hold less weight right? Depending on your camera, that could present a problem. EDIT: Ignore that - it can take more weight. Ronin S is 3.6kg, Moza Air 2 can handle 4.2kg
  23. That's because the flickering is much more distracting than the red lights. If you didn't mention it, I wouldn't have noticed. Red light is hot on basically every camera I've used, especially when there's less light around it like in this shot. For me in this night scene, the red isn't a problem at all.
  24. Sorry about the detour then... Can the GH5 shoot 60p at 180 with no flicker? @Emanuel nice link - but I still feel like you're opening holes to make mistakes in by choosing 60p. All you're gaining is slightly slower footage, but in my opinion it's costing a lot both on the shoot and in the edit. You need to ensure your shutter speed is right (with 50p anything will work regarding the flicker), and you're locked into slow motion. If you're making a documentary it's very hard to tell how you want to use our footage until you're editing it. At 60p you can't do any ramping or play with it at all really.
  25. Well then I jumped the gun with my response, sorry about that. If 60p at 216 works for you, crack on. Personally I’d stick to 50p and have more flexibility, both while shooting and in the edit.
