The jvc ls300 has a s35 sensor yet has a m4/3 mount so it should be possible but that doesn't matter as it is not the case with the gh5.

It was a paid upgrade before so it's nothing new, sony charges 500dollar for a 4K upgrade on their x70. Panasonic has always released their camera's at a very competitive pricepoint and cheaper then the competition so even with the VLOG upgrade it's still very good value for money, also, not everyone needs or wants VLOG and for those who do it's 100 dollar which is peanuts.

dantheman got a reaction from Cinegain in Panasonic G85 review - is there any need to get an Olympus E-M1 Mark II for video?
In my country (Belgium) the g80 is in stock in every major video store but I couldn't pass up on the deal I got in the UK, I get a free batterygrip and a 64gb 95mbs sandisc extreme pro card + the body is much cheaper as well, If I would have bought where I live I would have to pay 500euro more for the same contents so I don't mind being patient.

It looks a bit like a XT2 on steroids
Looks great, I"m still waiting for my g80 to complement my gx85 which I ordered from CVP in the UK october last year, today the g80 is still not in stock.

Can you link to some of your work then? Just for me to see what "progress" really means. You don't need to post the links here, you can PM me.

Most of the photographers I work together with at weddings are professional, a few have been award winning for whatever that is worth but every single one of them uses either a flash on camera or has 2 separate flashes which they place separately or clamp onto something and which remotely are triggered from their camera, often they also use such an umbrella or whatever it's called. Now I don't have any experience shooting photos but when I look at some of their work, they certainly know what they are doing because their work is stunning. I"m not going to link to some of these photographers here but if you want I can send you a few links via pm so you can judge for yourself.

dantheman got a reaction from Brian Williams in Panasonic G85 review - is there any need to get an Olympus E-M1 Mark II for video?
I can understand Brian's frustration, some autofocussing systems have become so good that in particular situations, like when shooting with a very shallow dof on a steadicam or just a shot of a person walking towards the camera, will be much easier to achieve with a a6300 or any Canon camera with dual pixel autofocus. There is a reason why professional and expensive camera like a c300 have a good autofocus, it's not a amateur function anymore if it is well implemented.

When shooting weddings I would say there are quite a few situations where a good tracking autofocus could do wonders.

Are you sure about that? a LUT doesn't fix a wrong whitebalance as far as I know.

I don't see any clipping either or green tint, the 3rd picture has less chroma and lifted blacks.

and it even gets worse when you use stabilized lenses as those will draw power from the battery as well but a advantage a g80 has is that you can add a battery grip to extend battery life, I gladly will trade in battery life for stabilization in the sensor though.

So we can't trust DPReview anymore to give honest feedback on camera's, so what, now that we know we don't have to visit their site anymore. In fact, who can you actually trust on the internet, I recall reading an article on this site about the Canon xc10, a camera I was planning to buy, and Andrew trashing it but then later on when he actually had the camera completely changed his mind, it went from "the camera has a IQ that's a bit better then a gopro to it reminds me of a Super 16 version of the C300 Mark II", Eventhough this is not the same as what DPReview has done it has the same effect on me as a reader, to me writing a heavily opinionated article will misinform your readers in exactly the same way as writing a article that is sponsored by the manufacturer.
I personally like to read Gordon Laings articles on cameralabs as he conducts his tests for every camera in the exact same way and he just leaves it up to his readers to form an opinion and I like to watch the Camera Store TV guys videos just because they are entertaining as well, Philip Bloom falls in that same category. I actually value the actual users opinions most as they will report problems with a camera after months of use, they will give you information most reviewers won't be able to because they use the camera just once for the review before returning it to whoever lend it to them. And even then you need to be careful as sometimes reported problems are user error.
If you want to buy a camera it's best to wait a few months after it has been released, read up as much as possible you can about it so you can separate fact from fiction and make a more informed decision.

Very true, I have it mounted on the GX85 with a Speedbooster and I feel sorry for the flimsy body
Low light performance at f/1.3 is great though:

Eventhough the gx80 is a great camera, especially if you take the price into consideration but if you had to make a choice then the G80 is a better camera allround and worth the extra investment, the internal audio on the gx80 is really bad, you can't plug in a microphone, the viewfinder is too small, the lcd screen doesn't flip open and it doesn't have cine-d or v profile. These are all shortcomings the G80 does not have, for me the G80 is camera of the year.

dantheman got a reaction from jonpais in Lumix 12-35 or Oly 12-40 on G80
The zoom ring on the Olympus lens turns the opposite way compared to the panasonic lens so that might be annoying if you are not used to that, also the panasonic 12-35mm does not produce micro jitters like the 35-100mm does. Another advantage with the panasonic 12-35mm is the OIS so that does give some extra stabilization when combined with the sensor stabilization and if you plan on using this lens on a GH4 or G7 you at least have a lens with IS where the Olympus lens does not give you that option. The focus clutch on the olympus, eventhough very handy, is like the panasonic still fly by wire, not sure for the g80 but switching between auto and manual focus on a GH4 is very easy and fast as well, I have the olympus 40-150mm f2.8 and everytime I pull that focus clutch to have manual focus the image shifts out of focus, doesn't happen on my gh4 when switching between auto to manual. The panasonic is also smaller and lighter.
If I had to choose I"d take the panasonic over the olympus. For photos the olympus is the superior lens but if your main focus is video you would have to pixelpeep to see the difference in IQ.
