I’m not sure which did it, but I did calibration as well as firmware update, and the noise has disappeared.
I’m pretty impressed so far, especially for photos, I never would have imagined using the pocket for photography, other than maybe panos. Look at the crop of this 64MP photo, blown out sky, yes I know, but the detail is pretty great-

Not to self promote but I think this is an underrated video on the quality standpoint. For whatever reason it didn't get many views for us. The Inspire 2/Zenmuse X7 with the 50mm lens combo is just...crazy. The parralax creates a look that's closing in on full size helicopter stuff.
This was for a company to see how Inspire 2 footage upscales to 8K using AI for both resolution and framerates.

Can you put a gopro on a separate gimbal and mount the whole thing on the car?
I just don't understand how a camera mounted on the hood of a car won't be affected by vibration from the engine, and more importantly, by wind buffeting.

I'd suggest using multiple layers of stabilisation.
As has been said before, gimbals are great but lose the horizon over time and cornering, and the super-duper-stabilistation modes on the GoPro and Osmo Action etc will also lose the horizon if kept out of level for some time (which is inevitable considering that roads are sloped to drain water away and corner nicely).
Due to these factors, I'd suggest a very solid mount (to eliminate wind buffering) combined with a very short shutter speed (to eliminate exposure blurs and RS wobbles from bumps) combined with in-camera floaty-smooth modes combined with stabilisation in post.

after my reply i thought about the wind buffeting also. i live in a high wind corridor pretty much right on the edge of the great dividing range. I have to go into town later i'll take the gopro and perform some rather unscientific tests. I think there's some grounds here for some collaboration and group therapy 🙂

@Hangs4Fun I'll get a suction mount for my gopro to test, but it still looks more gimbal like to me than stabilization. I do have the Hero7 with the first version of hypersmooth so that might help. Walmart has the gopro suction mount, guess I'll pop into one and get one to try. I'm fine with the quality and I'm sure the person in the video isn't using a larger setup, as long as the sun isn't in the frame, gopro/phone size sensors do fine. My gopro cant stay on more than 30-40 minutes before overheating and shutting down, but I'll still try. Thanks for the suggestions!
@leslie there are no issues in the US hanging a small camera on a vehicle on the road, I'll be fine. I see lots of custom cars with multiple gopros on them while driving. I regularly see a corvette with 5 or 6 mounts on it even when there are no cameras mounted, looks funny, but I guess the driver doesn't bother removing them haha. Someone near me must be doing some sort of car show. I'll check linear and narrow, I watched a few others and when the driver passes trees and such there's no distortion from the ultrawide view. Thanks for the insights!
I'll report back after some testing with a gopro.
    Cheers.

So here is the leak, no exact specs for now but announcement in 3 days. I hope they don't go for 3yo Sony IMX 586 sensor. I hope for somethings bigger.

Bummer the TOF system its not compatible with the smaller one, I prefer the folding design, quick vertical mode and the adjustable handle to go from upright to low slung modes.
I'm sure Youtubers will call it the greatest thing ever and hype the heck out of it. For now I'm fine with the smaller/lighter/cheaper Weebill S.

    Thank you.
    Well.....
They were going to be supported eventually.
Maybe we've managed to put "eventually" into the microwave....
Something like that would be nice wouldn't it....

That solves one of my issues with the Ronin system, since I'm not always shooting on a gimbal, or even carrying mine. I hate getting locked into closed systems like this. I'm mostly on a monopod or just handheld. Now if run-and-gun AF was possible with manual lenses and not on a Ronin...

For anyone looking to have this functionality (and a bit more) without having to buy a specific new gimbal (or any gimbal for that matter), our AFX module launches a week on Monday.
I'm absolutely not going to give the game away before then and say that it also supports manual lenses.
Absolutely not going to spoil that surprise.

Frame grab from today's interview. Just made basic adjustments to balance the RGB parade, nothing else. WB needs a little tweaking and I feel like I never add enough contrast...
Shot at 4k24p roughly 50mm and f/4 or 5.6, can't remember which one as it was getting brighter and my ND only went to 5-stops, so I had to stop down to prevent hotspots on the boats in the BG.

Ironically, I am shooting at a brewery today, lol.  Doing an OktoberFest, plus some B Roll for an upcoming commercial and interview series.  I'm scrambling, I think my capture is good, just have a lot of work to do with the 10bit footage in post (I have not worked with much 10bit 4:2:2 before now).  The A7SIII is performing great, I just need to step up my game now 😉
I think your image looks great btw, checked it out on my big screen and on my studio monitors (pair of BenQ SW320 which I calibrate weekly for my large scale printing).
Now if only I drank beer, I could have all the free beer I wanted tonight.  Just never liked the smell so I never tasted it (plus my dad drank enough growing up for the two of our lifetimes, so..)

The image is fantastic IMO. Looks really good on my MBP and my 65" TV. But as always YMMV.

First couple shoots, a delicious Czech Pilsner beer canning (unsealed cans are free samples LOL!), and an interview. Both shoots I used 10-bit 4:2:0 h265 to keep file sizes manageable, and since 4:2:2 slows things down a lot it’ll make my life easier with the edit. So far loving the a7s3, IQ is beautiful and the AF is better than anything I’ve ever used. It’s flat out amazing, well worth it to me so far. So glad I pivoted from the R5 preorder to this.  All in all very happy.

I exported 2 different 4K versions of this, one best for Vimeo and one best for YouTube.  I don't have a CFast card yet, so this is limited to v90, and had issues with gear and couldn't get RAW this time (well add both RAW and the higher options once I get my CFast card.  On my monitor the vimeo image looks better, it seems to have more details in the white water section.
Here is the YouTube video: https://youtu.be/PgS_RUuPun
Here is the Vimeo video: https://vimeo.com/464041748
Besides not having my longer HDMI cable packed (missing out on RAW footage), I also broke the 75mm spider of my trusty Induro GIT304L, which ended my ability to use my motorized Jib/pan/tilt setup, and had to revert to the much lighter slider.  Was able to somewhat hold up the tripod with the slider on it to do dolly out and slides, but it was very sketchy.  This also kept from using my Ninja V and getting some RAW because I only had a 14" hdmi cable and couldn't hold it and the tripod and the slider together.
I will get back out there and next get the higher quality 4K/120fps and HD/240fps as well as RAW.
But in this video, you will see 4K XAVC S-I 24fps and 60fps, 4k XAVC HS 120fps, and 4K XAVC S 120fps from 100mbps to 600mbps; the first two with audio.  For each clip I provide all of the details of the shot (camera, lens, all exposure settings, codec, gamma, gamut, frame rate, file size, size per second of video, etc.

Haven't tested it yet, but Clear Image Zoom does a 1.5x crop in 4k and a 2x crop in HD. On the a7III there's no IQ loss.

Got mine Saturday. Agree about the EVF, its incredible. The larger grip compared to the a7III is really nice, still wish it was about 2cm taller so my pinky doesn't wrap under and a 1cm or so further away from the lens mount - its pretty tight with fat lenses. Touch tracking is amazing, it sticks to everything. 4k120p in something this small also nuts. And you can use v90 SD cards for just about everything, as opposed to something like the R5 which needs the CFexpress cards. Haven't tinkered with raw/Ninja yet either. There's so much to this camera. So far no regrets.
    Cheers
