  1. That's the one I have - same specs as yours - and it absolutely eats 4K footage out of the A7s2 and whatever I stack on top of it (usually Color Finale). But that is using FCPX which is a lot easier to use than Premier on these Macs (I have heard).
  2. I use the Tiffen VND (two of them - 72mm and 52mm) for outdoors video using the a7sii and don't have to worry about anything but getting the shot. There are occasions when I get it wrong, though. Lost a few shots at a wedding recently because I overdid the turn and ended up with a lifeless, dull image (not as far as the X but definitely too much). There are the occasional colour casts to deal with as well, but I do not know how I managed to obtain them lol. This is the first time that I have heard that shutter speed does not matter much. I always shoot 60fps at 1/125 and 30fps at 1/60 - you mean that I could go to 1/500 and see no difference? I tried that once with another camera (albeit a point and shoot panasonic) and ended up with horrific footage that was jerky.
  3. The single colour mode is available on cheap Panasonic cameras - used it on the TZ50 and FZ200 - but they will pick up hues of your chosen colour in objects that you cannot see with the naked eye. I would just keyframe and colour mask in FCPX for the best results, but make sure that the scene was only short with not much movement - otherwise, you could be talking many hours of work for ten seconds of visuals. There are plenty of plug-ins on the market if you don't want to faff about; just don't trust single point colour to work as you would expect it to in-camera.
  4. If it wasn't for the overheating issues - even when using 1080 - I would have snapped one up as a second camera to my A7sii. So I went with the original a7s instead.
  5. Shows how much more important sound is than actual imagery when it comes to this kind of low budget nonsense.
  6. I have plenty of likes left because I am largely staying off this site until Rangefindergate has been resolved.
  7. Have seen this myself on Facebook, where accounts have been cloned and then the original been taken down for a while. Nobody is any the wiser and all hell breaks loose - but not until a certain amount of time and trust has passed. These are not family accounts but political accounts where there is a clear divide between opposing ideologies. One is still ongoing and death threats have been made, people 'visited' and reputations utterly destroyed. All the false accusations happen away from the main pages and via private messages. Yet the innocent parties have no clue what is happening until they are having their front doors kicked off. They are patiently waiting the 30 days to get their original accounts out of Facebook jail as the baseball bats rain down on them. Seriously, wait until the man responds on here.
  8. Never been keen on Vimeo. Can rarely find a thing on there when searching and have to first search via Google. It has always come across to me as an elitist site that wants to keep the riff raff of YouTube away, but in doing so becomes dysfunctional itself.
  9. If you can get one to work - that is, find one that has no issues - then yes. Seen a few good videos of that combination in action. That's if you can get a good one, and not a duffer like mine. Personally, I would steer people away from the DS1 and suggest that they wait until something has been out for a year or more (preferably not made in China and preferably with a proven track record of support).
  10. "I had that problem upon delivery of mine. I ran the "Horizon Calibration" sequence on a PERFECTLY LEVEL flat tabletop. I ran it about 6 times to get it to work itself out. Only took about 5-minutes. I turned the DS1 off in between every cycle of the sequence too. It's been fine ever since (5 months) and that slow turning to either side never came back." Bookmarked that - encouraging to know that it is fixable Still cannot get it to stop turning. It is better balanced than every balancing video I have seen (even Owldolly's) but I have given up with it now. Sorry to hear that. Try recharging the batteries from scratch (overnight) and try again. The batteries that came with my unit look well dodgy with bits of plastic sealant breaking off. My experience, too, has been one long nightmare and I will not be getting the wretched thing out of its case any time soon. I just sweat thinking about it. Perhaps in the future I can sell it for parts or something.
  11. Yep - deeply regret getting the DS1, which looks great in the hands of the makers but not so good in most other people's hands. If you have a problem - please contact the seller. I'll wait for the vast majority to be pleased with both a 3 axis gimbal and the after sales service before trying again. Until then, I'll stick with a cheapo Hague - at least I can get smooth footage with one of those and they are super light.
  12. The grass is not always greener - there are plenty of Came users who are tearing their hair out online. I have the Beholder DS-1 and can only dream of getting footage like that above. It still will not stop turning to the left (like countless other users have experienced) as soon as it is switched on. Nobody from the company wants to know and the seller hasn't the first clue about gimbals - they sell all kinds of camera related gear. I've put it down to experience and will never purchase another 3 axis gimbal until a reputable company with GENUINE support for their products joins the market.
  13. I take it the GH5 has, or is, about to be announced?
  14. Wouldn't trust my a7s2 as far as I could throw it.

    A7SII Error

Are you using third party batteries?
  16. Turns out that people hate being filmed - by arseholes.
  17. He should not be allowed near anything.
  18. Brilliant post - learnt more in five minutes than in a lifetime.
  19. I'd like to know that as well. The a7s2 is an abomination in terms of usability for anybody new to Sony - spent more time in the settings than shooting and will have to train myself to know what it cannot do more than what it can do. I have hit more greyed out options than I can shake a stick at. I guess for people with quick muscle memory it isn't much of a problem and Sony engineers have aimed their cameras at these kinds of people - you know, the kind that learn the piano in an afternoon. If a huge amount of money landed, I would not hesitate to ditch what I have and switch to the 1DXII, given what I have seen and heard so far. I certainly haven't heard anybody struggle with the menu system but did hear EVERYBODY warning about Sony's 'retarded' menu system from the a7s to the a7s2. I think that I arrogantly assumed that they must all be a bit dense and that I would get it in no time. How wrong I was lol.
  20. Probably the Bourne Identity, purely for the style of directing. Die Hard was good at the time, but probably because Alan Rickman was on top form.
  21. Heard about this issue prior to buying the a7sii but considered it the lesser of numerous issues that had been reported concerning this camera (and Sony mirrorless cameras in general). Yes, they do discharge but not a biggie if you buy enough spare batteries to cover whatever kind of filming you do. Sad that I, and others, just shrug our shoulders and part with thousands in the process but Sony are infamous for their disdain for customers - from the PlayStation hack years back to the appalling customer service as per Matt Granger's parting salvo. Still a cracking camera though

    Vimeo Export

So glad that somebody bumped this (being a new member) - a wonderful piece of work all round.
  23. I wouldn't chance anything less than what seasoned users were advising to get - some of the cheaper and lesser cards were occasionally failing. Would rather have overkill that always works than slight underkill that could fail once in a hundred shoots. Why scrimp on a few pounds when using thousands of pounds worth of equipment? The SanDisk 128GB Extreme Pro UHS-I SDXC U3 Memory Card (Class 10) is the only card I will ever buy for my a7sii.
