editing is fine with new hardware. Any 7th gen Intel cpu and modern gpus work fine.
But 10 bit HEVC export is not hardware accelerated. Forget about that and think about other ways of delivery. It's just too time consuming.

Personally I'd go for an iMac if you can find one for a good price or, if you go for a macbook, take the vega graphics. A 13" macbook pro or mac mini with e-GPU might be a great tool too.

no waveforms on the camera. Focus peaking: set the camera to manual focus. In the video menu look for MF assist and set it to focus peak highlight. You can change the color and intensity

I don't really understand it either. It's probably a combination of many things. The way they market their products, concentrating on high profile bloggers and youtubers instead of "real" photographers. Their products are great and for a long time they were the only manufacturer offering small, full frame, mirrorless bodies. Not counting Leica. They concentrated on the big things like full frame and IBIS, ignoring little things like the viewfinder or weather sealing.
I guess some users thought that this, combined with the very spec heavy marketing, somehow made their product and thus them, superior.

There is probably also some fear. Fear, that Canon and Nikon enter "their" market and that they are no longer unique. As we all know that happened. And quite a few users, which still had their old lenses, did switch back.

When I had my rendezvous with the A7IIII I joined some Sony groups on facebook. To be honest, I was quite shocked at what was said there. There wasn't much talk about pictures or even technical details helping you to get better pictures. It felt like 50% of all content was mocking Canon and Nikon.

of course that's not all Sony shooters. Not all are on the internet, not all are hateful and not all are trolls. Some photographers I know use Sony and non of them is even close to what you find on the internet. So somehow the internet makes angry trolls out of Sony users ?

Goofy?? I think you mean "retro"?

Maybe to an actual retro dinosaur from that generation who knew the real thing then it appears "goofy"??
I have only recently paid more attention to Fuji, and only very recently took a serious look at them. And I found it pretty easy to get a handle on their range of models and the options (Wikipedia + B&H made it easy to get a quick overview of them!).

And now I'm feeling like I might buy soon a Fujifilm X-A3 (or perhaps the older X-A2 if I find an extreme bargain for one on eBay. It was either that or a NEX-3N etc as a "drinking camera", but then I got sucked in by the temptation of Fujifilm).

More manual controls is a really nice thing to have, it speeds up usage of the camera and provides more certainty of the settings.
Ditto having a top LCD, it is really nice to see all that info at a glance. One of the top things I prefer about using my girlfriend's Nikon D90 (even though it is a much worse sensor) with its "semi pro" body vs my consumer like D5200 when doing some casual photography. Certainly if I was a serious photographer then I'd be looking for those little things which make a big impact on the shooting experience such as a top info display like most semi pro and pro bodies have.

I agree. M4/3 can't compete in the megapixel race but it is well positioned with its tiny sensor to move in this direction. A combination of IBIS and electronic stabilization with feedback from an accelerometer and gyro (like the gopro 7) and you could have gimbal levels of performance.
I can't see M4/3 surviving in the high end market any other way.
I'd love the GH6 to have a 20MP sensor, 4K120p, gimbal levels of stabilization, Fuji/Pany organic sensor with ISO performance as good or better than GH5s, and internal ND (via the organic sensor), and articulating screen. Slap on the new 10-25mm f1.7 and you have perhaps the perfect run and gun shooting, b-cam, street journalistic style video-adventure -camera ever?
I would pay good money (3K+) for this as well. If Pany or Oly could make a M4/3 mirrorless camera that I could take out of my backpack and run around and take 4K 60/120p stabilized video without a gimbal that looks like it was shot on a gimbal, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

If you are talking about these, they work fine. Even though V30 is not enough for 400 mbps, they seem to be faster. I never tried the 16GB though, it's way too small for 400mbps, that just gives you 5 Minutes of recording

Probably both Panasonic and Fujifilm will make money by selling smaller version to car manufacturers. That's an area where global shutter and very high dynamic range are very important.

Furthermore Fuji has been developing technologies in regard to sensors for ages. The new cell dividing material for the 0.8nm pixels of Samsungs Isocell Plus is from Fuji. and they are the main supplier of color filter arrays and a few other things.

that's actually a great lens. For the 300$/400$ they charge for it as a kit lens, it's a bargain. But the requirement was constant f/2.8 so the 18-55mm seems no good.

Neither of them have the same useful range that the Fujinon 18-55 has! (although I suppose you could try to argue it isn't too far off? Perhaps)
However, they're both much much much MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE!!!

Waaaay slower! Over a stop slower.
Not that it is a bad choice in a lens, it is very appealing for sure, but it won't cut it if a person wants T2.9

Same problem. Big difference for some people between T2.9 and F4

There is the kipon baveyes EF to Fuji speedbooster. Optically not the best, but it's available.
    Stabilized zoom lenses? 10-24mm, 18-55mm, 18-135mm, 50-140mm, 55-200mm, 16-50mm, 15-45mm, 50-230mm, 100-400mm and the upcoming 16-80mm
    stabilized primes? 80mm, 200mm

Yes, they are a young system and there are only something like 30 autofocusing lenses, but again, if the bmpcc4k is interesting, AF is probably not the highest priority.

And we can always argue about what the competition has, Fuji has the outstanding MKX lenses if anybody is into video for real

    @thephoenix
I don't really get your point. You are looking at the Fuji because you like Autofocus? But then you think about a bmpcc4k which is practically the opposite. There are adapters for EF to X, there is a speedbooster and there might be a metabones in the future.
But most important, there will be a X-H2 for those who need IBIS. Personally I think the X-T3 is incredible value and part of that is, that they left the IBIS out. And can't complain about their lenses, I love their primes and they probably have two of the greatest zooms you can get for any system.

I just bought the fringer ef-fx adapter and it works well with IS lenses and the autofocus works well on recent canon lenses. My Tamron is old I guess so it doesn’t autofocus as fluidly.

I can agree with this. With face detect and on my Ronin, I had issues. With all of that set off and then just normal area AF on, have very little issues. But since getting the follow focus motor, I have been fully manual all day and love it

there isnt a camera on the market that has skin tones as good as im getting with 5d3 raw. its the most lifelike image that money can buy!
alexa skin tones are the most overrated thing on the plant earth. they make people look
    a) dead
    and
    b) yellow
and thats the gold standard right now

Have a look at the X-T3. Very impressive.
I also shot with a 50D with ML Raw for a little while. Eventually, that lead me to the 5D Mark III with ML Raw and I couldn’t be happier... it is a completely different experience than the 50D.
Other than a fleeting thought here and there, I haven’t even considered another camera for nearly two years now. But recently I saw some videos from the X-T3 and the video is ridiculously good, especially for the price. I’m not trading in my 5D3 just yet, but I may be adding an X-T3 to the kit in the next 6 months or so.

I agree, I have a feeling that these sensors are going straight into the Venice line.
And, I agree that we will have a hard time editing them now, but we can keep them for later????
I don’t know... we are constantly looking at gear and comparing, having G.A.S.... and eventually upgrading...
May be having one camera like this that will rule them all will stop us from looking, comparing and upgrading... and actually concentrating on content.

How about a tripod? and a slider? or even a dolly?
What about gimbals, steadycams and other things?
I have used the OIS lenses from Canon and Fuji, the IBIS from Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and Fuji but neither of those systems is anywhere close to replacing the things mentioned above.
OIS and IBIS are very nice to have, especially in combination with other forms of stabilization, but I think people are taking it as some kind of excuse.
Where are the stabilized Summilux-C lenses? The stabilized Ultraprimes or the Cookes? Where is the IBIS in the Arri Alexa or the Red camera?
