  1. You forgot something...

"Foolishly I should have quit earlier to recover the logs from the SD card, but alas that Sandisk appears to be toast, hence the lack of precise data - just my anecdotal report."

"Do not try on expensive cards until we figure out what happened!"

For me the only real downside to it is price. When the A7 was new I thought a lot of the appeal was the low price compared to a 5D or other Fullframe available at the time. And since then I have raved about the A7 in several reviews since its now easily obtainable for $500.

I didnt care for the A7ii I had (didn't love my A7sii either).

So when looking at this camera which Im sure is marvellous for plenty of occasions and type of shooting I can't help but to start comparing prices.
For less money than the A7iii is currently listed for, body only, I can instead buy:

    A brand new Sony A6500 + A7 + 35mm f2.8
    A brand new Sony A6500 + a used Canon C100
    A used Samsung NX1 plus the two S-zooms + a used A7 + a used BMPCC
    And so on.

Again, not hating on the camera. Not saying its not worth it. Just saying.

Looking at the A7/A7ii/A7iii, GH3/4/5 or even RX100/ii/ii/iv/v the prices are definitely rising with the number of specs introduced.
For professional use I get by just fine with a few generations old. An for enthusiast fun projects I personally think its a bit steep.
But if you are heavily invested in the system, are freelancing or operate under your own business, etc I definitely see the appeal.

Looking forward to seeing the A7siii.

I bet you can buy two A7III for the price of one. Plus GM lenses and a lollypop... :)

Just kidding, but the price of the A7III is not so bad.

Instead, i believe the price in dollars is a bargain for these specs.

    Price in euros though...

I had a good looking grade from hell LoL. I can't figure out how to export a single Tiff file in Resolve to save my Ass. It keeps wanting to make it a Movie which is sort of what Resolve is!

@webrunner5 Right click on Resolve's monitor --> Grab still, then in the gallery panel right click on saved still --> export.

@Stathman they look cool. I think I’d like a mix between the 1st and 2nd one.

Ok, mixed the two of them.

Also added sharpness to the face, liked what @Geoff CB did there, and blurred a bit the background.

Nice to see what others tried.

Well done creating this thread @mercer!

I believe this is the main reason a forum should exist, among others.

    Exchange of opinions and knowledge.

    Well done mates! :)

Sorry, finally started using MLVFS... no DNGs required.

@mercerActually, if you open the mounted mlvfs folder the dngs are there!

  5. @kye This is what i was thinking also.

I don't know nothing about the movie, story, scene etc.

Don't have a clue what feelings wanted to be expressed on this scene.

    I was just playing...

@mercer The 1st one is warmer and the 2nd is cooler. Combine them and you are at point 0 again. Just kidding :)

Lovely frame btw. And what about this bokeh!

  6. I tried to reproduce the issue with no success.

The image i see in FCPX is identical with the one i see in Safari.

But i did realise this. The uploaded image is completely different when it is small. it's like you described it. Darker with more contrast maybe? When you click on it, it's ok.

    Don't know why though... :)

  7. Hi!

If i understand correctly, you are saying that there is a difference between the exported frame you upload and the one you see in FCPX.

I imported the ungraded tiff in FCPX and the image i see inside the program is identical to the one i see on my browser (safari).

Can you share the graded tiff also, to compare?

Do you know anything about the Mac version? I downloaded OSXFuse (or whatever it’s called) and followed the directions but I am not seeing any options for MLV when I right click. I see there may be a script to upload somewhere, but again it seems unclear... but I’m sure it’s me.

You should see something like this (attached file)

    MLVFS option under services.

Hmmm do you think learning davinci resolve is worth it for this workflow ? I’ve been putting off resolve for a while now @seku

    Definitely!

Maybe also treats better to those harsh highlights.

You can send me some frames to check it out for you, if you like.
