I think it would be beneficial as long as someone is modifying camera and adding new features. The technology we have today like 3d printing could add new tools for the camera.

3D printing is not a new technology and if anything was more prevalent 2-3 years ago than it is now.

This also does not change my comment "I would not suggest increasing support for a dead system." Anyone out there who is looking at putting in any serious amount of effort into modifying/upgrading/hacking a camera system I would suggest spending that effort on a camera system that is not dead.

Hope somebody will come back to bring this camera to the next level. Maybe we can entice someone with some crowd funding.... count me in if we have a person or group willing to do so.

That would be nice but there is not really any point now.

There is no new gear to the system and used stuff is quite hard to come by.

I would not suggest increasing support for a dead system.

usb Shooter release cable: is a simple knob, which connects ground of usb cable with white one. if green one shortened to the ground, the pre-focus activated (the same logic as a main release button on the boby). There are No digital signals involved...

But, for some reason, i can not duplicate release cable via hand made one. That makes me creasy...)))

You can buy nx1 usb release cable on ebay for 10 dollars, and it is a fantastic little tool. I wish i could marry this cable with charging option...

That is very interesting to know. How doe the cable know there is a release cable attached or is it always checking for the pull down on those pins? In that case, I would guess that as soon as you plug anything else into the USB outlet such as a charging source the camera would stop listening for the cable release pins.

have you been able to build a simple DIY cable release without the charging?

  4. I will have to give this a try myself :).

Who is going to be the first to post 1:1 side by sides to show the NR.

My guess is that this trick is not getting any better results out of the sensor but is allowing you to increase the "gain" without increasing the ISO and because the NX1 seems to have some sort of terrible builtin NR that is tied to the ISO level you can avoid this internal NR.

Obviously, this is just a guess and I really have no idea lol.

Also is there anyone here who is really good with colours / scopes who can confirm none of the channels are clipping because of this boost?

Internet Lynch mob, it is facinating you can read through this post and watch the mob just whip themselves up into a frenzy. Is this a joke or a con, possibly maybe even likely, but if I was this "kid" and I did have a hack my attitude now would be fuck these guys. He announced a date, it is fine and good to be skeptical but all you had to was just sit back and wait - all will be revealed on April first. It's like sitting by and watching a bunch of children waiting for Christmas to come impatiently obsessing over every possibilitity. At this piont I hope the hack is real and no one gets it.

At this point, I hope its fake but he continues to claim its real and is just not going to release it because of the "lynch mob".

Based on probability alone I think this outcome is by far the most likely probably 50 to 1 or so.

Yes! This one is first version of potential blueprint script. Seriously, I'd be so glad to here some more - it's so funny and inspiring!

Please some other from different perspective.

MountneerMan spent the rest of his life sipping coffee at Starbucks trying to write a screenplay about the time the NX1 almost had its true potential unlocked.

  7. Just to summarize this thread for any anyone in the future who comes across it before it gets locked.

    1. Arikham claimed to unlock "16bit" Raw video on the NX1.
    2. some people believed him while others were extremely skeptical.
    3. No proof was provided.
    4. After about one week the skeptics demanded proof.
    5. Still no proof was provided.
    6. The people who believed him defended him.
    7. The individual disappeared because he was scared of everyone who demanded he provides proof of his claims.

    Roll credits with cheesy music...

    ....

Mathew Hartman went on to start an anti-bullying campaign and was eventually recognized by Melania Trump for his valiant efforts around the world on cyberbullying

Kisaha lost faith in humanity and moved to the woods to live out the rest of his life as a recluse with no contact to the outside world.... He spends all his time trying to hack the NX1 to unlock RAW video.

BTM_Pix opened up an online detective agency.... to this day he still takes on probono cases related to the camera hacks

Arikham was never heard from again

Lol, sorry I kinda got lost in my own sorry there.

You're taken for a ride every day of your life. We all are, in one area or another or many altogether. Ever been in a romantic relationship? 99% off them are predicated off of psychological and emotional codependency. Believe your nation's government truly has your best interests at heart? Heard of the world bank?

Look, if we get fooled or suckered, it wouldn't be the first time. We are all suckers, this is just another day another dollar. I could think of worse things to get suckered into.

Yea I know your right but I still feel the need to rebut because that's just the way I am lol.

    1. A good working romantic relationship does work on psychological and emotional codependency and there is nothing wrong with that at all. You both depend on each other psychological and emotionally so that you can be stronger together than separate. Not sure this is what we are really talking about here but yes I agree.

    2. I do not believe my nation(Canada) has my best interests at heart. I believe they have the whole nations best interests at heart which at times goes against my interests and at times goes with it and that is how good democracy works. The problem is too many people just take things at face value and don't think for themselves which makes it too easy for a small group of people to convince a larger group of people that they have shared interests case and point with the Republicans in the US. They have successfully convinced a very large group of poor to middle-class people that they share the same interests as a small group of rich elites and corporations and that they should do things like remove regulations that were put in place to protect them.

    3. Yes, I have heard of the world bank and all the issues with unregulated banking. All the more reason to be skeptical of people and their possible nefarious motives.

I never said this ("doubling the power of NX1"). I ONLY said to do 4K RAW. If this would "double the power" of the NX1, is something everyone has to judge for himself. For me (!) it's great.

Didn't you claim to unlocked 16bit RAW? that is orders of magnitudes greater than 8bit compressed.

Even 10bit RAW vs 8 bit RAW is four times as much information never mind the compression...

I don't know I'm just saying extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and if you are for real extraordinary evidence should be really easy to provide yet you haven't given a single tiny bit.

@Arikhan, the more I think about it the more I am sure you are full of shit... if you did pull this off you at least have one RAW video and despite spending time on here posting you haven't spent the time to upload any proof... common man.

Part of me hates the fact that I am even following this thread because I feel like I am being taken for a ride just as much as someone who believes you right out. Then another part of me respects the commitment to the troll lol

Its just classic spolied kid behavior. He clearly said april 1st. If its true or not doesn't matter, thats the date.

But some just can't accept that they have to wait for things. They instead try to provoke, debate, etc.

I am not trying to provoke debate. I am just saying that given all the information we have todate the logical thing is Arikhan is just yanking you for a ride.

Also, personally I would much rather be wrong then be played.

Guys, a community always can have some more useful ideas than a single person. The problem is the technical implementation and the workflow after getting the results you want. One more problem could be the legal aspect...

As the processor of the NX1 is very powerful, I invented a workflow called IDOB - Image Data Optimization Blocks. It can combine 2 RAW images and output a single DNG file (16 bit) with a convenient amount of data (much less than a single RAW) but with a tremendous amount of DR. And it fits in a modern workflow with Premiere or Davinci.....

This ground principle is not my invention: When putting (stacking) more images together (even shot under same conditions = similar EV) you will get a single superiour image with great DR and tremendous possibilities to work in post.

Just try it: Go with your camera and shoot in quite dark conditions JPEGs in burst mode (even without EV change). Stack them in post to a single image together. Do some post work on it and compare this result with a edited single picture...By far more details and DR...Have fun...

I am confused... From what I understand this experiment would work with JPEGS but not for a RAW file.

From what I understand the NX1 is an iso invariant camera meaning a RAW image taken at ISO 100 and pushed 2 stops in post would be (in theory) just as noisy as if you shot it at ISO 400 out of camera.

Now I might be missing the point completely but then again I am also convinced that Arikhan is just messing with everyone at this point.

  12. This is hardly a rumor, it was simply a three line response to the countless request for comment that says "maybe you will get a gift while you fight" this means absolutely nothing and out of the very long list of what this could mean an NX3 is very very very far down that list.

Here is my list of what this could mean in order of probably
    1. Probably means nothing and we are not getting anything.
    2. A software update that helps with compatibility with newer phones
    3. A software update that helps with compatibility with newer phones & gives minor phone interface improvements because it was easier to connect their new cell phone camera app to the NX1 then to make the old app work with the newer cameras.
    ...
10,000. They have taken all the tech they learned with the NX to make a concept camera of the future for display at tech shows and showboat what they could do if they wanted.
    ...
    ...
1,000,00. they have an NX3 that will be released in two years that is nothing like a camera as we know it and more like a cellphone with 1" sensor like all the other cell phone companies are coming out with now. (actually, this is probably not that unlikely but really has nothing to do with cameras or the NX1)
    ...
    ...
10,000,000. they have an NX3 that is an iteration of the NX2 and can use NX lenses.

I'm with Kisaha on this, saying that I'm more than served with NX1 for many months/years to come.

Of course, I always hope that my NX1 lives long enough.

When I change system, I want to be sure to get something vastly superior to NX1. As to now, nothing is - IMHO - so much superior to justify a switch.

Almost sure, when I switch, it will be for a full frame, unless something "crucial" happens in sensor technology (i.e. the long rumored organic sensors come out) able to improve low light performance.

That said, the three technologies to look at are:

    1) Nikon FF mirrorless (if/when it comes)

    2) Canon FF mirrorless (if/when it comes)

    3) Fuji APS-C (if/when they implement an organic sensor)

I agree except I thought that Panasonic was the one leading the charge on the organic sensor front. Also, I don't think we will see an organic sensor in the prosumer market anytime soon as well as I always shy away from being a 1st gen adopter anyway.
