I honestly would go with the FX30 over the FX3. The A7S3/FX3 have too much image processing which ruin the internal 10 bit recordings. Shooting external RAW bypasses this but its an annoying workaround that doesn't offer much benefit aside from bypassing the ugly internal processing.

Used the FX30 recently on a short, which included low light scenes and it looked great. Film grain was added in post but the original recordings were pretty clean.

One less pointless trip to the stratosphere (barely space!) would run DPR for 4 or 5 lives!
The forum there had a very strong NX presence, I hope we can attract here most of that traffic, even thought there are too many hobbyists and newbies, which I am not sure if they are the right target group for eoshd, still, it is a possibility..

Yeah, I remember DC Resource too.
Steve's Digicams in the early days was right up there with DPReview for prominence and usefulness!
Have we gone forwards or backwards by replacing all these great web resources with social media influencers?
I think we know the answer.

Amazon told them in January, some left the very next week and got a new job.
During these last 3 months, it appears absolutely nobody in charge has made an effort to save the site or kick up a fuss, let alone sell what is a very valuable asset for certain other companies.
It's ridiculous that Amazon isn't considering a sale.
Jeff must be a bigger loser than even I imagine him to be.
Although not quite as big an idiot as that guy who wasted $44bn on Twitter, the likes of which can't seem to find even .00001% of that amount to preserve 25 years of photographic gear culture.

The more I think about all this the angrier I get at the current staff there.
Nearly all scurrying off the deck of the ship like DPReview is nothing but fit for the bin.
If they had stuck with the site for longer than a few months it could encourage the sale to a new owner.
Instead they jumped like rats off the deck and have nearly all got new jobs already.
Meanwhile we're left with an empty shell of a website pending deletion.
It is an absolute disgrace and a total disregard of the global camera community.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't go their own way too, though they might feel more financially secure to be on the payroll somewhere. The big difference between them and the rest of the YouTubers out there is that they're older and have families, so being on payroll somewhere might be more appealing. Probably provides more stability than having to rely on YouTube ad revenue that can really fluctuate.

    They won't close.
It's a big asset and will have a lot of buyers. Current staff might go over to the new non-Amazon site or they will leave and do something else, which for me would be a good thing as they're not really up to the job.
DPR has a ton of camera info that would be very sad to lose from the internet, the database of specs, and historic reviews are part of the camera world's culture and it would be vandalism of the highest order if some idiot decided to delete it all rather than keep it online. It costs almost nothing to keep a website online and I am surprised Amazon is making such deep cuts at all, as DPReview is hardly likely to be a huge loss making part of the company.
What are the REAL reasons the site is closing? It surely can't be due to money. Perhaps a big fall out at the top between the DPReview management and Amazon?
If Amazon really are looking to save a few thousand dollars running DPReview which drives a ton of traffic to Amazon for camera purchases, then how bad must it be at Amazon?!
They were hiring like crazy during covid, big profit boom, then suddenly they can't afford to run a camera blog?
Even I can afford to run a fucking camera blog.
    I smell something fishy.
Either the news is fake and they already have a buyer lined up. Chris and Jordan seemed really chirpy in their jokey closing video.
Or they are all hired already by a new site and will simply rebrand the existing one.
There is simply no way they will delete it.
The SEO and Google links alone are worth redirecting to a new site domain.
    Why bin it?
    They're not telling the truth.

I guarantee you this will have substantial Sony cripple hammer. It's a ZV series aimed at Vloggers.
So what crippling to expect? No EVF, no IBIS, no fan, no 10-bit, no S-Log, no dual card slot.
There is simply no way Sony is releasing an A7S3/FX3 in a A7C body for $2500.

Sounds like it'll sit between the A7C and FX3.
Probably the A7C form factor but no EVF?
Not expecting a mechanical shutter. I reckon they will go all electronic like Sigma Fp and FX30.
Would prefer if they give it a similar body and ergonomics to FX3 and FX30, but it being more a ZV range vlogging camera I expect it to be more of a rebadged A7C with the A7S III sensor.

28mm should be decent on the 6k sensor. You go super wide and you really start to lose a lot of depth, but its scene/location dependent obviously.

My suggestion would be to add as much weight as you can. If you can get the rig close to 5 pounds it will make your movement so much nicer.

An Easyrig for me doesn't really help to stabilize. Just saves your arms a bit for longer takes. If anything sometimes the easyrig makes stuff less stable, when people let the camera get away from their center of gravity.

This was in the news today, apparently all of NZ's polytechnics (which are kinda like Community Colleges in America?? If they also offered full length degrees, and even postgraduate qualifications such as Masters degrees) have to now refer to their students as not "students" but "learners".

I think Canon have been forced to up their game on the standard models due to the Sony A7 III and A7 IV which has been eating their dinner.
EOS R7 is a kind of 7D, a rare APS-C camera that comes along every so often and does everything quite well. I still think the Fuji X-H2 is outright better in terms of spec but it was unthinkable a few years ago to have oversampled 7K -> 4K 10bit C-LOG 3 on a £1350 Canon body.
They have finally caught up with the 2014 Samsung NX1! (Just joking)

I absolutely think mine is the best purchase that I have made in a long time. I can't speak to MF lenses, I don't have any MF EF mount lenses; but I have not had any issues with EF lenses set to MF via the switch on the lens. The only IBIS issue I have had so far is I had to turn off the horizon leveling feature when using the R7 on a gimbal; otherwise the horizon slowly rocks from side to side. Also, the IBIS wobble is pretty bad around 24mm and wider but I try to stay 35mm and longer when filming people anyway so this doesn't really bother me.
The only other issue I have with my R7 is sometimes the record button won't stop or start recording when in video mode. I either have to press it a few times or I have to hit the button on the touch screen; this mainly affects stopping a recording but a few times it has refused to start recording as well. I think it has something to do with coming out of standby or the power saving mode but I haven't tried to figure it out; possibly assigning the shutter button to start/stop recording could fix it.
As far as overheating, it does great in that department so far. When set to 4KHQ @ 30FPS after about an hour of continuous recording the overheat countdown display will appear but as soon as you set it to line skipped it immediately counts back up and disappears.
IMO the R7 is actually superior to the R5 in almost every way except resolution and of course its not FF. It handles heat better, the IBIS is better, battery life is better, hybrid hotshoe so audio is better, and cheaper dual SD slots so storage is also better. The only thing that the R5 is better at that I care about is lowlight since the R5 has the dual native ISO option. I could probably level the playing field there as well with a speedbooster but haven't shot much lowlight lately.
I know everyone is going to shout from the top of their lungs that the R5 has a FF sensor so it has to be better, but personally I couldn't care less about sensor size, 8K, RAW, the pixel peeping level of IQ improvements because the R5 downsamples from 8K, or the shallower DOF for a given focal length.
To me personally, the R7 as a 50/50 hybrid camera has no equal in Canon's lineup except possibly the R6II. I combined the R7 with the Meike RF to EF mount vND adapter and now have what I consider as close to perfect as currently possible for a hybrid photo/video event camera. The R7 is definitely not perfect by any means, and I still consider most of my negative findings to still hold true, but thanks to what the R7 does provide I can now shoot entire events and many other types of projects with a single camera.
The thumbwheel around the joystick has really grown on me, it is so convenient right under the thumb and with the physical photo/video/power switch which is also right under your thumb, I can power on the camera, take a few images, switch to a few video clips and power it off all within a few seconds without ever taking my hands off the camera; so ergonomically for hybrid work I also consider the R7 superior to the R5 (which has no dedicated video switch).
Color wise, it matches up perfectly with the R5 and C70 if all three are set to CLOG3, and from there I just drop it into Davinci Resolve and use managed color.
