Andrew, the comments about grading weren’t intended for you specifically.  Read the post.  I was talking in generalities about recent facebook groups I’d left and a similar entitled tone here. It was not a personal attack but you chose to take it that way.
Cmon, I shoot these shots for BMD for exactly this purpose. To be downloaded and graded.  If I was truly precious about it I wouldn’t do it again and again would I ?
You’re throwing a tantrum, publicly, because you dind’t get an invite to a BMD event that is seems like few even knew about.
Somehow you think that’s got something to do with me so you went and wrote a post about me. A really lovely piece too.
I’ve said it already a thousand times.
    I don’t work for them.
I don’t have that much to do with them day to day.  Last contact I had with anyone at BMD was weeks ago.
It’s not my job to make sure YOU get some attention from them.  That’s on you to make that case.
And by the way, this kind of childish unprofessional behaviour is exactly the kind of reason any company would think twice about working with you.
Instead, you launch a highly personal assasination blog post as well as numerous personal attacks because I dared to try and explain that to you in a way that you thought wasn’t deferential enough ?
You don’t do this for free.  You sell something.  I don’t but you actually do.
Having traffic come to this site means you have a greater chance of selling something.
You sell LUT’s and you sell guides and you use the traffic here to do so. So don’t pretend all this free traffic is somehow a favour to BMD and free publicity.
I didn’t even see the post you made about the BMD footage till your personal attack on me,  but I noticed when I read your BMD post you’re mixing in a bunch of references to LUT’s you’re trying to flog.
    How about this...
Delete every single post of mine.  All the IP that I’ve posted and shared on this forum? All those posts where I’ve shared my knowledge and experience.
Go ahead and put your money where your mouth is.

I don’t actually work for Blackmagic. It’s not my job to make you happy or smooth anything over when you have an issue with them not inviting you to an event.
It’s not my job to pander to anyone.
    I don’t answer to BMD.
Just like you I’m an independent opinion and my opinion doesn’t reflect Blackmagic’s views.
    I think you’re misunderstand why I’m here.
Nice job on the personal attack Andrew.

    This.

I'd recommend Andrew you just write them a polite note saying "hey, I'd like to get a hands on demo of the BMPCC4K soon in the near future for a preview on my site EOSHD", I'm bet they're very likely to reply back with "sure!" and let you come down to have a play around with it for a couple of hours at their HQ.

You never know until you just ask.

As it very likely was just an honest mistake to exclude you. Probably the event was organized by clueless marketing folks who wouldn't recognise an appropriate filmmaking expert if it was thrown at them, and instead invited portrait photographers and smartphone reviewers. Because they're all the same to them.

    Edit:
ah never mind, I caught up and read the other posts which came later on.

    What a shame.
Who are these "deep state" BMD insiders that are here pushing an agenda ? Myself and Hook.  Who else ?  What do you guys think, there's a plot and conspiracy ?  You guys don't wat these contributions I guess ?
I'm here because I've been a member here for years and I'm on many camera forums and this is just another one I like to read and contribute to where I can.
I want to know where all the clowns that were saying on this thread that the world was going to end because BMD didn't have any footage out yet and that definitely meant something was very wrong and the shipping date would be missed.
All I've seen so far is that a planned marketing campaign by BMD that has gone off the way they intended.
They commissioned some actual filmmakers (not bloggers or camera reviewers) that make certain types of film (natural history, action sports, nature) to make some films and then they released them and the camera originals.
Then they gave some cameras, complete with some boxes as if they were new to some secondary users, and whilst having them also under NDA, got them to shoot some test footage and allowed some of them to release that footage.  Again.  Not reviewers.  Not bloggers.
About a thousand reviewers and camera jockeys have done a bunch of made up comparisons and VLOGS based on existing footage. (hey I love seeing my footage being butchered by grading nerds)
    Think about it.
No blogger or reviewer ANYWHERE has gotten a functioning camera to shoot with as far as I can tell.  Because that's not what BMD want to do with their marketing of this camera.  This isjust marketing 101.
They need people using the cameras in the many difference specific sectors of the market will use the camera.  Camera reviews aren't part of that plan. (though it hasn't stopped people doing it based on existing footage)
Until it's shipping, it's their choice to give it to whomever they want.
I'm tired of this entitled bullshit.
I recently left a few facebook groups I was on for this camera, and I'm doing the same here.  Frankly it's juvenile and I don't need the agro I sure hate explaining what should be obvious.
    There's no slight.
BMD have a marketing department and they have a plan and it doesn't involve forums, bloggers or camera reviewers.  That's not a snub, that's just them marketing the product in the way that they see fit.

I don't recall as I didn't use it much, but did Canon's camera take a massive battery hit when using Magic Lantern's Waveform?

SR reacted to Shirozina in Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K
Not battery drain. It takes processor cycles to display a waveform in real time and the more complex ones that have 3 channels presumably the most. Resolve can start to skip frames with the RGB parade up so I'm just suggesting the lack of scopes may be a physical limitation and not a deliberate choice / crippled feature?

It takes a lot of processing power to do what is essentially a detailed and sophisticated real time animation overlay over the live image (or even from the live image)

As someone who has BMPCC4K on preorder and was a GH5 skeptic, I only recently used the GH5 in a shoot for the first time and was blown away by the ease of use. The gimbal ended up in the bag, and I shot the whole thing by hand. If it's anything like the micro 4/3 camera, along with a higher megapixel sensor (40 to 50), I'm jumping in.

Gut reactions are by definition spontaneous...not based on actual experience of the thing effecting your gut.
There are always quick and emotional responses online to pretty much everything, and definitely in this field.
My head tells me to trust the team that got us here and the pros who are speaking with confidence and praise regarding their hands on experiences.
As a music producer I was part of a blind test of engineers that tried to differentiate, also a similar test with dozens of engineers who swore by analog tube preamps versus digital.
I'll let you guess what the blind tests proved.
Hint, some of the analog manufacturers were present for the test and not only couldn't they guess what was recorded on analog vs digital - they couldn't idenitfy their own (very expensive) tube preamps.
A lot like Coppola choosing the GH2 over the Alexa in the Zacuto shoot out.

    I think we're just nostalgic.
When the Ursa Mini 4.6K first started shipping there were many many threads that were EXACTLY the same as some of the complaints on here....  Users complaining that the UM4.6K didn't have the same mojo / look / feel as the 4K sensor which at that point was in the Production camera, the Ursa and the Ursa mini 4K.
    This is a new sensor.
It has the same chef's in the kitchen, working with new ingredients.
Spend some time with the images, look at the RAWS when they're available and learn to get the most from it.  THEN come back and post about what you like or don't like.  But grading from a downloaded 264 and then writing it off as being inferior is a bit premature and simplistic.

The lenses are the ones we had available when the photography was done. As @jonpais says, we try to be as agnostic as we can practically be and we often recommend Panasonic lenses and others to people at trade shows etc when they ask.

Sata based SSDs are on the way out in consumer devices. M.2 SSDs are smaller and multiple times faster because they are not limited by the very slow for 2018 sata protocol.

depending on how computer literate you are, I would advise against a consumer grade NAS. If you have the skills its far more economical and flexible in the long run to build your own NAS running FreeNAS.

If you are moving to a desktop PC just use RAID 0 on internal disks and regularly save to a backup as it will be cheaper and less hassle than an external setup. I use 4 x 2tb which gives me enough read and write speed for 4k and an 8tb ext HD for daily backups. If I have a drive fail I would just replace the bad drive, rebuild the raid and copy back the data to it from the backup which is probably a lot easier, faster and safer than trying to recover from the more advanced RAID configurations. RAID 0 currently enables fast write and read speeds and large storage capacity for less money than SSD or NVME storage. When the latter 2 drop in price significantly we can consign RAID to history......

All this talk of a bazillion stops of DR, I'm reminded of the minor miracle that these manufacturers have managed to accomplish..
10 stops of dynamic range means that in comparison to the smallest amount of light they can distinguish, the brightest light it can distinguish is 1024x.  That doesn't sound like much, but 12 stops is 4096x, 14 stops is 16384x, and 16 stops would be 65535x!!!!
Even the claimed 13 stops for the Pocket 4K is 8192x..  that's huge!
    We really are spoiled ???

I am guessing that there may be a slight delay, though nowhere near the 1-1.5 years the original pocket cinema camera. It could be a few weeks if not days. They already seemed to have tested it, but think the footage is still be tweaked even further. Also, they want to push the sensor to the max, within the limitations of the processor.
Every organisation has a common attitude, that trickles down from the top. Grant Petty seems to know what he wants, and he isn't in a rat race. He actually doesn't care at all for the rats, and that's why the profit margins are smaller, and Black Magic doesn't have inflated advertising costs and no unnecessary freebies for anyone. Also, Grant doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to be a billionaire, with all the hyperbole advertising and specs (ala 'Cinemartin Fran 8K', or 4k at 480fps blah blah blah), endemic to the industry. Blackmagic has had its set of firmware and feature hiccups. But for the price, I doubt anyone comes close.
In many ways he and blackmagic design embody the true meaning of 'disruptive' without the glorified presstitute fanfare.

Remember that RAID isn't a backup solution.  Yes, it protects your data if one of the drives stops working, but if your files get corrupted / you delete something important by accident / you get a virus / etc then it's still your only copy of the data.  The backup copy should not be connected to the computer (if it is then it can also be corrupted by viruses or software malfunctions) and ideally it would be somewhere protected so if you get robbed or if there is a fire then you still have the data.
The solution I'm working towards is having a RAID 5 system for the 'live' version of my data and archiving onto single hard disk drives as backup.
I just bought a 12TB drive and that is my 'live' drive and I have a couple of 4TB drives as backups (ie, I backup projects by date and when the first drive is full I then backup to the second).
My MBP isn't powerful enough to edit my 4K source footage so I make 720p proxy files and edit with these from the SSD in my computer so the speed of the drive with my 4K footage on it isn't a big deal for me at the moment.
In terms of your data rates for the Pocket 2, BM lists these:
The highest there is for 4K60P which would be 272 x 2 = 544MB/s which the specs you quoted easily matched.
It's a bit of a separate topic but I think that lots of people are going to get the Pocket 2, and after testing the various codecs (and seeing the file sizes!!) will realise that a lower quality codec is absolutely fine for what they're doing.  To put it in context, YouTube 4K is something like 35Mbps, which is a hell of a lot less than the 2176Mbps of the Pocket 2.  Obviously you want to record at a higher bitrate than YT streams at, but I'm not sure that you need 62x the bitrate!!

What system do you cut on?
That Synology Nas is a good unit. Fill it with 8 drives in a raid 10 config and it will be plenty fast as long as you install a 10gbe card in it and use a 10gbe to thunderbolt adaptor. Using the 1gbe connections will not give you the speed you need. Do you need to share the data on it with other users?

I don't know much, but the read/write speeds seem to suggest it'll work just fine.
SanDisk is 500MB/s write and Samsung is 515MB/s write. I can't imagine the difference being enough to worry about
I like the little loop in the corner, make's for a nice place to connect the drive to the camera, minimising risk of losing a connection.
