PannySVHS reacted to mercer in Panasonic GX80 - 5 Axis IBIS works on video!
It's actually not off topic, in an earlier post I stated that I would be excited to use my Canon 12.5mm TV lens with 5-Axis IBIS on the GX85. I stated that that lens covered the m43 sensor in 4K. Panny asked to see proof.
Is lens choice, with the GX85, not a relevant discussion?

Hey Panny, I actually did have a video on Vimeo. This is my first day with the G7, and it's ungraded, so bear with me. But between 1:41 to 2:22 you can see some shots with the Canon 12.5mm TV lens.

Actually I have had my G7 and my FZ300 stop recording with both Transcend UHS-1 Class 3 and with Sony. The Transcend had write speeds of 60MB and the Sony had write speeds of 50MB. I finally bit the bullet and bought the 95 MB Sandisk Pro.

Thanks Panny, but I think a lot of people on this board that would disagree with your first two sentences.
But I think that would be a great challenge. I've never used the FZ1000, but it seems like a fun little camera. That's what I like about the FZ300... OIS, full manual control, all of the picture profiles and control that are present in the G7, Mic input, impeccable continuous af. It's a camera you can just pick up and go and run and gun some decent footage.

    It is the FZ300.
To be fair, I shot this entirely flat... Natural with everything dialed down and with the lens wide open. The screen grab, I underexposed 1-2 stops and the video I exposed to the right. I did very minimal work in post, so there obviously isn't much latitude. I think in the hands of a more skillful person, this camera could get some good images. Plus it's a blast to shoot with.

Of course it looks corps like. Would have been the same with every camera. The shot was “exposed” for the background and then Yuryev steps in (in full shade).
Not to best condition to test skin tones. If you want to see some less corps like skin (and not use masks) you will have to blow the sky.
Still not perfect but looks a little healthier.

Well, none of the major electronic stores it seems, they're around the 600~700 USD... I guess you mean specific camera stores? But I don't even see you beloved Scandinavian Photo with those kind of prices.
    - oh wait, got to take that back, looks like I've found something close... http://www.fotokungen.com/panasonic/digital-system/panasonic-lumix-dmc-g7-kamerahus-svart | http://www.rajalaproshop.se/panasonic-lumix-dmc-g7-kamerahus-svart.html , I guess I'll need to pay 'em a visit later this month.

All of them. Its the current price in Sweden.
That used one for 300 is from a guy I met the other week. But honestly, you can get one cheaper in a month or two. The second hand value for mirrorless in Sweden is super low.

Oh goodness, that looks horrible! Are you sure that wasn't one of the ones he did trying to push his mates LUT pack, that honestly looks LUTTed to me, in fact, it looks worse, it looks like a film emulation LUT.

Very rarely do the colours in hollywood films represent exactly how the scene looked.  Unless you have been to that exact forest, at the exact time he shot the film you can't make judgement on the accuracy of the colour.  I simply posted that sample to show that both pleasing colours and motion can be achieved by a skilled camera person and careful grading.  Most dslrs would fall apart if you tried to pull images around as much as he has done to get this look.

Not everybody here owns an F3 or has experience with one. I do however own and use one :-) Used mine most recently just last Sunday on a feature as their DoP.

444 would be 12bit not 10bit. You'd be thinking of the more common 10bit 422

S-log's history on the F3 is thus:
Originally the F3 shipped without, then later a *VERY* expensive firmware upgrade was announced (thousands of dollars! But when the launch price of the camera was some fourteen thousand dollars or so, perhaps not really that much extra.... relatively speaking), but then the Canon C300 got announced...
Sony responded to this announcement in a couple of ways. Two of which was to drop hugely the price of the s-log update (under a thousand bucks) and to announce a free firmware upgrade for the F3 which gave slog as an option but missed some parts of the of the paid upgrade  (such as 444).

Obviously if you can, you want to buy a secondhand F3 with the paid version of the firmware upgrade if you can.
But practically speaking most of us would see only a minor if any benefit in getting one over another. (Paid vs free upgrade)
As the main benefit of the paid upgrade is gaining 444. But up until recently 444 recorders have been VERY expensive. At least now we've got a great option with the Video Devices PIX-E5. But even that is too pricey for some (I don't have one.  But I'd like to have one!), while the 10bit 422 recorder options have become *AMAZINGLY* cheap!!! :-o We've got multiple options which are sub 500 dollars.
Plus not all projects are suitable for 444 anyway. As it means a large leap in data requirements, that not everything will benefit for. While 10bit 422 is the "sweet spot" I feel personally for high quality but easily manageable amounts of data.

Seems he just wanted to know:
But, I guess that 2011 brochure cleared up the fact that the person he talked to was right. So yes, he can use one of those cheap 10bit 4:2:2 recorders and does not have to upgrade it first.

The FZ-mount is regarded as a highly adaptable mount. I saw RJ did some: http://www.rjcamera.com/ocart/index.php?route=product/category&path=20_67

yes, and definitely not an easy one. I am still not sure whether it was the complete right decision, but the even smaller formfactor as well as the slowmo (and andrew's review of course) made me jump on this trip. We will see

    Hallo Andy,
this is a great post to go along the angieux/tokina one. Such a great source of knowledge! Thank you very much.
Just one question, test were done with the internal codec, right? So how does the HDMI to Assasin compare to the internal footage,
is ist noisier due to lack of any noise reduction? cheers and thanks!
