Hehe, 6.16min all through 6.25min he mixed Mbytes per second up with Mbit per second, f.i. it should be 372 MB per second vs. 150 Mbit per second. 150 MB per second is wrong. 1 byte = 8 bits. So if the enthusiastic youtube presenter and cinematographer would know about that fact, he would be even more exited about "his" massive raw datarate compared to video codecs.🙂 @kye

Darn, you should do a regular education on sound, David @IronFilm. Lowbudget mics, recorders up to midrange price level highly appreciated. I remember you kinda approved the Zoom F8 if I recall it right. What Mics for booming which don´t cost a fortune like an Sennheiser and the likes. Always great to know for cam people who are also into one or the other corporate job as one man band.

I indeed received my second BMMCC, no batteries, no anything. Had it sent to my parents house, cuz Berlin and packages, you know. I turned it on and recorded a few dropped frames of DNG due to average SDs at my parents house, so it does work, looks good from outside. Need to test it at home with monitor and adequate SD. Anyway, got it for 267 EUR including fee and shipping. Barebone body. But made me think, rigging it without a cage just a 3 inch monitor and set. 400EU 60p raw setup. That could become my cinemacube to go. No rigging, cage, nor acessoiries as with my first BMMCC, which has a RAWlite filter by the way.:) My smart way for a main cinemacam to go, without having to deal with phonecalls ringing in my camera. 🙂 Funky skintones on that fella, had to stop watching after few seconds.:) @webrunner5 But I get your point that a potential device still to come with lack of artificial sharpness could do many tricks.

I have seen dozen examples of footage posts within threads leading to fuitful discussions. I myself posted couple times screenshots and videos with great communicaiton following. Points of discussion also depend on questions asked by the posters of footage. How you like it, what do you like in the lighting, let me tell you about the diy tricks, etc.

Hehe, a few mistakes in the bitrate presentation, MB/s is not Mbit/s.:) Former is about 8times higher that Mbit per second, 1MBs equaling about 8Mbps. 6.15min making me smile in humble silence. 🙂

And it´s alway amazing to see what´s done with funky 8bit hd photocams. It´s also an important decision between monochromatic and black and white. Unfortunately sometimes people I worked with don´t recognize that and go for bw right away. Even on no budget projects cinematographers and their know how and especially ART is not recognized by the directors. Anyway, here is an example of beautiful 8bit cinematopgraphy and 420 glory in monchromatisitc awesomeness.

the reason for footage not to be seen is that it is in a section. I have been pointing that out several times for a good reason. Footage on the main board has been widly discussed and learned from, regarding many aesthetic, dramaturgy related, lens nerdy, lighting aspects and anything you can think about. Wild, lifely, fun discussions. So, put the footage in the main board in a way that it referrs to technical and aesthetical points of cinematography and cinema in general. Unfortunately we dont have much footage from ourselves there, nor projects, we can discuss. The footage section has always been dried out. The footage on the main board has always been discussed lifely and with lotta enjoyment. It´s not apparent. I seems apparent to you. If it was, I think I would have chosen a different approach. Something like, it is not easy to take criticism within colloborations when it is ones own passion project. Further I think, nothing would be doomed just by lack of criticism. It is necessary on getting the project forward on a general scale rather then shifting too much time towards online communication. I think Andrews project is challenging. It is all in his hands and the team. Directing and doing cinematography as one person has plus and costs. Doing proof of concept is always cool. Doing testing is great fun and helpful, lighting, lenses, movements, locations... Finding the right crew, the right size as many people means also higher costs and communicational workload... Also, making the project attractive for collaborators, and the communication around it, is an important part of the project. Enjoy and lemme know if I can contribute @Andrew Reid cheers, Marty

Hehe. Andrew does an awesome interview with the Japanese head engineer and includes his masterful vignettes with the Lumix GH cameras. I then rewatch two GH1 pieces and read into the vimeo comments for his masterful "Tokyo Storm". There I read a certain comment out of all the appreciative exited voices. I go to the commenters vimeo site and I discover this, filmed with HD camcorders cameras and the quasi 720p machine that the EOSD 700D is. I zipp through the video, watch parts of it and hopefully will watch the whole film. But check out from 18 to 20min. Awesome, simple, masterful, Tokyo Storm qualities from a Tokyo Storm admirerer. Cheap cameras Black and White galore and glory. 19.50min- wow.

I always said, EOSHD library is a treasure chest. Forum family just didnt seem to hunt for it enough. Member posts are also gems to be treasured dearly. Andrews interview with Lumix GH pieces is my favorite journalistic camera piece of 2022 so far! Had to watch the GH1 piece and GH2 anamorphic in Spreepark Berlin. Thank you very much, Andrew. After Andrews awesome interview and beautiful parade of GH series EOSHD film vignettes in his latest masterpiece blog post, I feel even more bummed about Steve Huffs 10 years old ghost youtube channel.

That´s right. And date of the video is three weeks before his info video about the camera review business. Don´t wanna post it here, cuz I kinda feel uncomfortable. "You´re bald!" The ghost sounds like he is making fun of Steve Huff big time, even kinda mimiking his voice. Some videos with 10Mio+ viewers on his channel!

Holy crap! I started loosing interest with the Sony 7R2 review, because I felt some oddity shining through his message about the cameras that "might be for me, don´t have to be for others". At first he focused his reviews on the underdog and niche cameras. With the R2 review it was all big releases after another. Gee, I never I figured he has been a ghostspotter. His otherwordly youtubechannel has been around 2012 even! Crazy! Would have never thought that. I am not into Hifi though. 😀 Started a third video of his ghost expertise. Not easy to watch at all! Puh! But he quit the camera review game. 🙂

I always loved Steve Huffs site. Don´t remember when I started reading it but maybe around 2011 or so. Read many of his old articles, getting me hooked to a GF1. Though this camera was already inferiour back then when I bought it I had so much fun using it and it is one of my favorite digital stills bodies of all time, despite its slippy, skinny grip. Later around A7R2 times I started recognizing an odd pattern in writing and lost interest. Up until OMD EM5 days it was a great companion and every days first web read. After all he made me buy a Lumix GF1 not a Nikon D90. So that got me into mirrorless. Oh, alos got a Oly EPL1, EP2, which I bought for the 20mm 1.7 and the 45mm 1.8 coming along with them. Watching this video gives me great pleasure. Hearing the guy in his warmhearted and gentle way. His turn towards audio will hopefully mean that he will leave his archive of vintage digital photocameras online for generations to come. Let me check his GF1 review again. 🙂 Oh crap, a warm- cold shiver running down my spine.

Darrrrrn! What a brave rig this is! @webrunner5 So you have a b4 or b2 mount adapter and a doubler or 1.4 extender between mount and lens or inside the lens? ENG pros don´t know any fear! So, how does the lens perform on general terms and on terms of the BMPCC, 4K ready? 🙂 cheers and thank you for lighting up my evening with such a cool setup!

I found the Sigma video not appealng in regards to the "vintage character" of the lenses. To me it was going over the lines. I would suggest buying some affordable M42 lenses, just like Andrew and the EOSHD cats have been suggesting as a valid choice since the existence of this beautiful site and forum.

Yes, that little RAW clip is definately an indication of great enjoyment and motivation to go outside and film. I remember when I started filming with my G6. Every opportunity was so much fun and exitement. GX85 was fun too. But with this camera it feels like in the "old days", exitement and anticipation. And investement. 😉 Need to buy a smaller monitor like the Ikan, which our friend @mercer recommended. The 5inch VA form Blackmagic feels too bulky for cinema verité. For studio or a narrative setup with AC and all that, it is fine of course. For our little shortfilmy I had it connected to a Shogun, because my mini SDI to SDI cable ripped apart. Dunno how that happened.:) Camera was on an improvised mini minijib:) on sticks, which was on pipe tracks. Anyway, a camera which invites to chat and chat about. 🙂

Better get a Canon FD 20mm before they hit 699+ 🙂

There is the possibility of moire. The S1H is the safe bet for any grooms suit.:) I find the monitor on the S1 a bit unpleasant to handle. It´s connection is very solid but due to that not very smooth to move. A few times I find the EVF bump to be in the way when shooting from certain angles. S1H being 350g heavier than the S1 makes it indeed a very heavy Lumix. GH6 seems like the perfect body. Btw, GH6 in low light seemed to hold onto colours much better than GH5s and though noisier, detail was reained better as well, coming from some youtube tests. So it is a mini S1H in many regards and way beyond in others.

I just bought a Canon FD 35mm F2. I put it to use with the BMMCC and a 0.71x focal reducer last weekend. Focus was manually done by a 1st AC via Tilta Nano. A native electronic 12-35mm would not have cut it. But I can see that continious AF is of course an interesting thing on newer cameras and for videography especially. @webrunner5
