Was there any previous case where they actually added something after they had finalized and presented the camera?
I can see In Stock here as well: http://www.ukdigital.co.uk/panasonic-lumix-gx80-body-black.html . According local Cyberport they are expected here on the mainland for tomorrow. Another CEU store claims delivery in 1-2 days, meaning it's probably In Stock with the distributor. Seems Austrian prices for the kit undercut some of the German market ones (like Amazon and Saturn) by 100 EUR. Same happened with the LX100 during the launch period and then rose back up again, might want to be in for one after all. I'm so weak, lol, it's just that I have so many non-IS lenses you know, that it's kinda tempty to already jump on it and not wait out for the GH5, which perhaps will be shipping around Christmas or something (seems so lightyears away right now). I'd kinda rather be outside shooting away with that little thing in summer.

A mostly photo-centric review, but there's a few handheld clips with her waving the camera around to show IBIS starting at about 3:30. Rolling shutter looks really good.

I spoke to Clifton Cameras today and they happened to have a body-only in stock which I should get tomorrow.  I also read on DPreview that someone is having one shipped directly from Panasonic UK as their wife works there, so they are trickling in...  I guess there goes the rumour about them adding a mic input

We tested NR all around and there is no evidence than NR on or off did any difference to footage in NX1
On nx500 with mod-pack there is the 2.5K enable option without NR whatsoever, well it's noisy allright ))

Also here is the LUT for my 200mbps test footage if anyone interested, I did it myself, so, use it freely

I agree - Canon colors with the A7S features - why can't they do that?
Plus flip screen is nice on a7s and weight being a lot less.
Canon color science I love.  I need to experiment again with my Nikon cameras as well.  Getting the sony chip there is possible, but I feel like the native Canon chip maybe nicer - I don't know - I haven't done any test.
here's some photos I did this week on the a7s ii.

Tested the 1DX Mkii on the Letus Helix, so far all is good. Still sorting through the manual. Took some test shots over the weekend verse my Sony A7ii and A7Rii. The Canon is way cleaner, requiring far less gain to expose in low light conditions that either of the Sonys. Video look pretty good to my eyes, even in dark (not just low-light) conditions, whereas the Sonys produced unusable footage under the same condition. We did have some rain over the weekend, and I had no fear, safe in the knowledge that this body is fully weather-sealed.

With the C100 Mk III expected not soon after (according to schedule of previous model releases), I do not expect the 5D IV to have anything other than the addition of 4K at 24/25/30fps and PDAF for video shooters.
I expect the next C100 to only add 4K and a slightly higher bitrate, as to not ruin the C300 II (which according to my rental house is not in demand at all because of the FS7).
This sounds negative against Canon, but the fact of the matter is that their models work better than other brands at standard frame rates and overall usability. You can absolutely rely on C-series cameras for that reason.
A good comparison is the RX10II vs the XC10. The specs on the Sony are monstrous but in reality, it's a terrible camera for video. Very overpromised. It's unreliable and is awful to use due to nasty focusing. The XC10 specs don't look great, but as a video camera it works much better. It's a decent B cam for the bigger models.
Anyway, while we all waste time debating what Canon isn't doing and all that fuzz, let's look to the models that work today, which are perfectly fine for many of our needs.

mercer reacted to jgharding in Calling all Sony users - share your whitebalance settings!
Yes, this is due to chroma subsampling.
in 420 footage the 0 is the red channel. It is encoded with (Im rusty here) one quarter the resolution of the luma channel and half that of the blue channel. Red is not prioritised.
my exact number details could be rusty, but this is what's going on. The edges of red out of focus lights will show you just how fuzzy things can get.
the more red your balance, the lower the resolution of your image.
when I used to use Canon 600D I used Visioncolor, which is a profile that enhanced blue, and used to balance cool. I also used a hack that upped the bitrate a lot. If you shoot very warm with and 8bit 420 codec then yes things are more likely to fall apart if pushed around.
so if in doubt cool/green it a bit would be general advice.
HOWEVER I've got rid of all my Sonys because I hated the colour, and the endless grading just to fix problems, so perhaps trying to go cool and green will just ruin your footage: you can but try!

I have this lens... Currently selling it on eBay. It's a nice lens. Constant zoom with the zoom mechanism inside the barrel. Good macro. I haven't used it with a 5d, but most Nikon lenses work well with Canons.

Mercer, great results. Cats at windows are just the perfect test subjects. Sucks to hear about the seller misrepresenting the item.

So, my Voigtlander came in... I'm a little bummed because the seller advertised it was Version II, but it is actually Version I. With that being said, other than the disappointment... It truly is an amazing lens!!!
Here's a grab from my first test with it.
    Camera: Panasonic G7
    Lens: Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 @ f/1.8
    Profile: Natural -5 -5 -5 -5
Grade: FilmConvert - Fuji Velvia - 0 Grain ~ Color Finale - Master Curve Adjustment

Yeah, this lens truly is something special. I had looked at a few c-mounts that were 25mm f/0.95 but for the cost of an old TV lens, it just doesn't pay. I will definitely try those settings for you but I probably won't get to them until next week... it has been raining for the past week and isn't supposed to stop until next week.

Awesome @mercer! I am really really near rebuying that lens again, maybe matched by some older Panasonic (like the G7) or wait for the GX80. I just love this lens. This week i searched for alternatives but there arent any.. you wont get any 25mm f0.95 equivalent lens that has a awesome short minimum focus distance in something comparable size-wise.
Would be great if you also try standard -5,-5,-5,-5 again - preferably some human skin combined with either KD P400 Ptra or FJ SuperX 400 and post some screencaps

Looking to trade in a G7 and RX100 iv for this feature as it can dpo the job of both.apart for slo-mo maybe.

Yeah, I am pretty excited. I had zero regrets or remorse listing those lenses today. I wasn't planning on getting this lens so quickly, but one came up and I threw out a lowball offer and they accepted it. Now I need to raise some money to get the GX85 because I want to make sure I like it before I sell my G7.

One lens for me would be a standard zoom, 24-70/2.8, the Nikon Bourne f/2.8 zoom, or a good copy of the 24-105L on FF - or the equivalent on smaller sensor.
If you're talking one FL, it'd be a 35/1.4 for me.

What this can't do is replicate the movement when you have objects in the foreground because the lens is stationary, so no sliding out from behind objects and such. I think that's what Phil was talking about.
With IBIS you can do slider like movements and take advantage of the parallax effect and stay in 4k. I don't think I'd ever use the in cam feature, I'd just go handheld for the better visual or do it in post.
    Just my opinion.
