  1. Or "would" After all these years Reds raw format is still the best I've ever used. Love the workflow.
  2. It's just to test the workflow so anything really. High DR is always useful and cats are cool
  3. Lol, I thought I had you on my ignore list already.. let me fix that..
  4. Cool, might have to revisit this thing. Now days when Im 95% stills and do enjoy a good DSLR its an even better match.
  5. Will be interesting to see how they compare. These videos looked great, the first one was my favorite. Gorgeous grade. And man does a shoulder rig beat gimbals imo.. Does ML work with an external monitor, any restrictions? Know of any samples online for download?
  6. What's funny is that if we look back at these wish lists from just a few years ago it's all been ticked, and then some. But we are quick to raise the bar and the marketing departments know it
  7. When ever we see a Sony sales figure article I read the fine print. It's always a comparison between FF mirrorless or FF only. And 9 out of 10 times it's measured over just a few weeks after a Sony release. As a whole they are still quite small. It might be a shrinking market but DSLRs still outsell mirrorless.
  8. Does anyone know what the bitrate drops to when shooting 180fps on the GH5?
  9. None of the pros I work with use dual card slots for backup. It's just more space. Then again, none of us shoot weddings. But it's not like we can ask for a reshoot either. In my mind, it's more likely that the camera is the issue, not the card. When ever I have had a problem in the past, dual slots would just have meant twice the number of corrupt files. Regarding color science it's just as important in raw for me (at least for stills). It's all about keeping the time spent in post to a minimum. Time really is money.
  10. I made a poll asking about Underrated Camera Features. 39% out of 2300 votes went to color science. I also did one for Overrated Features with 64% out of 2400 votes going for Dual Card Slots. *It's supposed to say IBIS but unfortunately YouTube doesn't allow editing of polls.
  11. None of the consumer stills cameras does 14 stops in video. Canikon manages 13. Sony had something like 11 in the A7sii, might have become better as of late.
  12. Forgot about the DPAF, since I don't use AF, but that's of course also another thing it does extremely well.
  13. The EOS-R isn't perfect but it has no rolling shutter, biggest and most affordable lens lineup in the world, built in ND, stabilization, c-log, high bitrate, great audio, seamless transition between photo and video, and of course a great stills camera built in. Until another company releases a camera in the same range to replace it I don't have much choice but to use the awful Canon..
  14. Bought the old 17mm f1.8 again. Must have had it five times already. Got for a stills camera but it will definitely come in handy on the Micro as well.
  15. I had that, works fine. This is also a cheap option that lets you mount it on other types of handle. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lanparte-BMPCC-LANC-Controller-Video-Remote-Control-Box-Camera-Recording-Switch-/191659274715
  16. Yeah it cost almost nothing on the used market. Im getting the One Little Remote V4. I already have a breakout box and the URSA mini handle with start/stop, auto iris and AF through LANC. With the V4 I will be able to use both. Looks very nice.
  17. Looks like its the rise of the Micro Im super happy with mine. Have settled in on the Tamron 17-50/2.8 VC as my standard lens (on the speed booster). I stuck on a $10 Fotga variable ND because I couldn't find a step ring for my normal ND. I know from an A/B I made that it is a quite soft filter. But all it seem to do on the Micro is remove moire and make skin look more flattering. So its still on and Ive stopped looking for the step ring My Panasonic 12-35 is going on sale today. Don't see myself using it. Got it as a small option but in reality it isn't all that small. Instead my old kit zoom from the GM1 will act as my small zoom. A bonus with the 17-50 is that it works perfectly on my EOS-R if I ever need too shoot 4K or for some other reason want to shoot video with a zoom in s35 mode. I had it with me on a 5 hour run-n-gun but ended up using my old trust worthy 28mm f1.8. Which of course also is quite nice on the Micro. Looking forward to see you guys build your rigs. Mine is pretty much complete accept a controller thats been stuck in customs for over a week... pissed is an understatement..
  18. The last year Ive seen roughly 50/50 FS7 and Canon Cx00 amongst the pros shooting for the big names and networks in the arenas I've worked. But on the lower end and straight for Webb it's been 50/50 Smartphones/Osmo and A7x. And interestingly. A couple of XC10/15. First I've seen in the wild. I'm of course talking video only. For stills it's been 90% Canon, 9.99% Nikon and one single Olympus
  19. I very rarely use AF for video. Today I had a 5h run n gun with interviews etc. Didn't use it once. But every now and then it makes sense to use and then it is just lovely. It's also great for macro focus pulls in product videos.
  20. It's not going in any pocket but with the Ikan it's starting to be quite slim.
  21. I think the 6Dmkii is fantastic, great upgrade. Miss the image from it tremendously. Will buy one again when they are cheap.
  22. My Viltrox allowed IS. Think it's a recent bug.
  23. For me Canon lenses AF on Fuji for stills stretches from mediocre to usable. Compared to as advertised on a Canon body (both mirror and DPAF). For video on a Fuji the Canon lenses AF stretches from bad to absolutely unusable. Compared to really really good on a Canon body with DPAF. I've tried 28/1.8, 50/1.8 STM, 85mm f1.8, 200/2.8L and a bunch of zooms.
  24. It's in the name, "studio". That's were it makes sense to have the option of a small camera hooked up to the mixer. Other uses is when it needs to be in frame, webbinars, anything really. It's just the imagination that sets the limit.
