  1. Ed, I have been watching your F3 footage online. Really nice looking stuff. Thinking about buying one of these to shoot with for a while. I have been shooting with the FS700/7Q and the only disappointment to me is the skin tones for interviews. It's really difficult to find a camera that can do Pro Res/422 60p at an affordable price. The only negatives, I don't own any PL glass... Anyone still shooting on this camera? I love the images it puts out.
  2. I absolutely love the image this camera puts out. You pair it with a speed booster and a Sigma 18-35 1.8 and the setup is amazing. If you shoot out doors in natural light, it is perfect. The camera is really only limited by your grading/shooting abilities. Here's a skateboard piece I shot with the bmpcc. I will be honest and say it took me a while to get the colors to look like this. I also did a lot with twixtor to slow down a few shots through out. Theres a few GH4 shots and they look pretty bad in comparison
  3. I have the same issue… The camera is awesome, 4K Pro Res, 120 Bursts at 4k, etc, but the colors are just bad. I'm not sure if it is a stylistic choice… There's no way to argue that the Sony has comparable color to a lot of other choices. The Canon C100MKII can put out a better image for the web... Edit: If you weren't shooting too many interviews, the FS700 with 7Q is probably a pretty good solution. You can use film looks to get a nice image, but it is just difficult to get that nice, balanced Canon look. Skin tone in mixed/bad lighting is particularly bad.
  4. Post a frame of yours where skin looks as good on a Sony as on a Canon. This just a LITTLE important for wedding shoots...
  5. I also enjoyed it… Did these people even like the original?
  6. The 7Q works as well. Very reliable and polished… I've used it on tons of shoots with no problems. Great monitor. The built in LUTs work very well. Not only does the 7Q give you 4k/60p/Pro Res, it also does 120fps in bursts at 4k, and 240fps at 2k. The FS700 can be extremely tough to get natural colors out of…
  7. It sounds like the C100mkii would be the perfect camera for you. Lightweight, internal NDs, great colors, very small file sizes, awesome ergonomics, great lowlight, XLR audio, auto focus, etc.
  8. MLraw Viewer, Export to Pro Res Flat, edit in premiere, color in looks or resolve, export. The files converted to Pro Res still absolutely destroy the H264. The added work flow doesn't really seem needed for most projects. It is nice to be able to view and store the footage in an easy and convenient way...
  9. Am I missing something? The Sony skin is hard to look at. Watch when he turns his head, why is there pink blotches in his ear. What is that tint around his eyelids? I would love to see a test in mixed lighting. You start getting frustrated when every color is rendered out slightly off. Canon skin tones can look great in nearly any situation.
  10. The 4k recorder is not a huge expense, considering the amount of quality it adds to your work. The down sampled 1080p/10 bit/422 Pro Res files are very nice as well. I don't think the Sigma 18-35 is going to cover that sensor with a speed booster. If you get the non speed booster version, it will.
  11. Started watching this, super good stuff. Saved the source with File2HD.com to watch when I have more down time. Thanks for sharing.
  12. I'm interested in FS5 for those reason, but the FS700 offers a lot more than what you listed. The FS700/7Q does 120 burst at 4k and continuous 4k/60p straight to Pro Res… This is huge for a lot of applications. The FS5 still needs the 7Q to get the 4k Pro Res files, and even then it can only go up to 30p. The 7Q is huge, but is also a great client monitor. That being said, I probably wouldn't use the FS700 without the recorder. I have been using the recorder as a counter weight and it works pretty well. I shot a spot with this setup two weeks ago, i'll post it up when it drops if anyone is interested. I was quickly switching from 30p/60p/120p through out the whole day. The slow motion on the camera is lovely. Honestly, the size is a bit much, but it impresses clients if that's the situation you're in. The setup is also incredibly reliable.
  13. Sony color. That being said... Still interested, but a c300 would look better in the same setting...
  14. Yes, I would also like to see something that support this. Hah. The black magic pocket is really amazing.
  15. These colors are beautiful. What a solid image. Sheesh.
  16. These lenses drop on the 29th. Considering a pre-order. The 35mm especially will be so great to use for video. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1183045-REG/tamron_aff012c700_sp_35mm_f_1_8_di.html
  17. Magic Lantern is not really a comparison. You are comparing a camera with insanely terrible work flow and reliability, vs a full fledged documentary camera… I own the 5D3 and shoot MLV, but I wish I owned a c100mkii for a lot of things.
  18. Confused about some of the specs listed. I actually don't even see the 240fps specs listed on the BH site. It doesn't list the 10 bit recording in the recording format section, but it does in the description below. The PXW-FS5 records to XAVC-L QFHD 8-bit 420 (up to 30fps) and HD 10-bit 422 (up to 60fps) internally. The XAVC Long allows you to encode from HD to UHD using Intra-Frame or Long GoP compression with 10-bit 422 for HD and the choice of 10-bit 422 or 8-bit 420 for UHD. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1185424-REG/sony_pxw_fs5_xdcam_super_35.html
