Yeah, but the ergonomics aren't really that relevant when you add a huge recorder to the back of the thing… The FS700 is the steal right now, you can get that whole rig for probably under 5k at this point. I would say that the Sony FS5 probably can get much nicer color, due to the S-LOG update, etc. The colors out of the fs700 are seriously tough, they were improved a ton in the fs7. Does this update enable 4k/120 burst? The FS700 can do this which is awesome.
  2. This seems more comparable to the Sony 28-135, which is around 2500. The pros will like this lens... You can control the zooming with grip on the c100/c300. To blow everything away I guess it would really need to be an F3.5 or F2.8. If this lens is amazing optically, that will be huge as well. Has anyone used the Sony 28 - 135? That lens looks beastly for the price.
  3. Are there other motorized zoom lenses available? Also these will supposedly work with the joystick on the new c100/c300 firmware... Obviously out of budget, but cool to rent for events and stuff where smooth in camera zooms are needed.   5. Is this true? I thought you needed dual SDI, or an SDI/HDMI converter for 60p on the F3?
  6. C100 for the painless work flow... If you could rent a 1DC, that would probably be great as well. You would need a monitor.
  7. It's not trendy… Sony is considered the spec front runner, but people purchasing the cameras are constantly disappointed with the colors. Color is so important, how is inferior color not an issue? I'm not saying everyone should go run and buy t2i, but the 1DXmkii is going to put all of the Sony DSLRs to shame. Below is what I see so often. The entire scene looks sickly. A C300 in that scenario would look beautiful, right out of the camera...

  9. This took me 20 seconds in looks. I use Sony footage all the time, theres no way a Sony at 12800 ISO on some S-Log setting could touch this.
  10. The Micro Cinema Camera has MUCH better audio than the original pocket.

  14. Here is what it looks like in Premiere. That type of detail on those trees has always been a problem, even with the original pocket. I don't think the 60p increases the moire or aliasing and overall it looked improved to me. Re-uploaded the source file without sharpening if you're curious. Thanks.
  15. You're welcome. Sheesh. I normally add sharpening, because it helps Vimeo not destroy the file when it compresses it. I also normally shoot a lot more shallow, but I was curious how the camera would do with deep focus. I don't own a Sigma 18-35 right now, but that is probably the best lens for this setup. I'll try dialing it down and re-upload. The main focus here was testing the 60p.

  17. I'm loving the 35mm f2 IS. Not the sharpest less in the world, but the IS is huge for keeping your footprint down when shooting. The F&V ball head is just off of amazon. I recommend this cold shoe mount as well, it came with a tool and is well built.   18. I agree, why not add a scroll wheel, but the pocket was a task as well. I guess I should say, it is a bit easier to navigate than one would think by looking at the thing. It feels less cheap over all.
  19. I am really enjoying using the new BMMCC. Black Magic basically fixed everything that was wrong with the original pocket. This was all shot handheld, used two IS lenses, Canon 24-105 and the Canon 35mm f2 IS. I know that this sensor will really shine when you use the Sigma 18-35 and other shallow lenses, but I do think having an IS lens makes the setup incredibly fun to use. Some thoughts: Moire seems improved. (There is one shot in this entire edit that has moire. I shot at around f4-f8 for the whole day.) The battery life seems to be at least 3 times higher than the original pocket. The menu system is incredibly easy to use, despite having less buttons than the original. Using the Small HD 501/LUT preview is really really nice with this camera. I used HOOKs LUT to judge exposure. The grade is just simple three way in Magic Bullet Looks.
  20. The 60p out of this camera is unbelievable. Shooting some stuff this afternoon. This is the camera I have always wanted. The level of stress I have shooting with this vs a larger setup or a 5D3 raw is so much lower. It looks great and is really fun to shoot with. The Small HD with LUT support is really needed to get the best out of it. Running Hook's Basic LUT in the still below.   21. Just shot with the micro around town this evening. I love the bright record light RED when recording, green when in stand by. So many minor improvements that make the bmmcc so much better than the original pocket. This camera is a lot of fun to shoot with. The 60p is really awesome.
  22. 60p will unlock a lot of creativity with these cameras. I'm curious how bad the rolling shutter will be in 60p.
  23. I wouldn't get your hopes up for that. I saw some heavy IR contamination on one of the first videos. Moire is hopefully reduced... 60p is so huge though. Cheesy Cams stuff looks good from a technical stand point
  24. The grading is so subjective and the learning curve is tough with the pocket. The 5D is so incredibly easy to make look awesome. The lowlight is also amazing.
